I've watched this episode like twice or thrice at this point, and no matter what, I can never remember what actually happens in it besides the setting, maybe, and Me/Ashilder

I agree that this is really, really, good. it could be that it went over the heads of some of the audience perhaps some of the younger viewers...ps- your critique was spot-on so don't worry you came across very well in English.

This episode has on display a common problem with some stories that are rated poorly. The overall story is great and the themes are good but the threat written into the episode to kick things off tend to be rather weak. I would really like this episode if it didn't have the fire breathing lion-person part of the story but he is needed to trigger the action. It's also amazing how Clara can bring so much emotion into a scene when she is there for just a minute or two. That hug! Awww.

Good points. I rarely rewatched this episode, because I kept thinking of it as the one where "this random guy just tells about of stupid jokes when he's about to get hanged"! 😅🤭
      Seriously, tone-deaf anyone???
This certainly had potential, but they would have had to flesh out that lion's backstory way more. I think this is a classic case where time restrictions probably got in the way.
I personally would be happy to live in a world where we don't have strict release schedules.
Finish your product in the best way you can and then deliver it all at once to me. But if an episode gets worse, just because you didn't have enough time to give it the cgi or flashback scenes you wanted, that's sad...
Just one thing has priority no. 1: Good WRITING!!
On paper, everything you came up with has to sound incredibly amazing. 😅👍

It's rare to me to comment a video. But i haven't yet watch this one and I know I will enjoy the reaction. Why I am so sure ? Just to see your enthusiasm at the beginning, your smile and how happy you are to share your joy to watch an episode on Doctor Who. So, like Tennant say : "allons-y" for the reaction :)
    A little french neightbor.

This upload is hopefully (and will remain) a prime example of how awesome it is that you can always form strong opinions on something and you still should listen to everything else that stands for your opinion and against it.
Still, a rating is ALWAYS PERSONAL. Which is why I hate people who never rate ANYTHING a perfect "10". I have a bunch of movies on my list rated a perfect 100. I wouldn't change a thing about them and watch them all the time, every time to the end, when they're on.
My favorite movie even had a 101 rating. 😅🤭
Just a little cheat for me to distinguish it from the other 100s.....

Did wonder why you wrote that sentence down - I entertained the idea you had a 'brain fart' & said it in German.
This is after Elizabeth I, so a price on his head makes sense.😂
    £20 in 1651 is around £3K in 2023. The £30 is £4.6K.
Lenny the lion was a hand puppet used by Terry Hall. Lemny had a BBC show in 1957.
Sam Swift is being played stand up comedian Rufus Hound.
Maisie had a Birthday on set
Purple also means royal. Death pairs with Royalty a lot though.

Maisie was 14 when she started GoT and she is 18 in these episodes of Doctor Who. She was already a famous for her role in GoT, that's why she was invited here

Don't be disappointed with the IMDB rating - most people are just not capable of thinking and analyzing what is told in this ep - they just like watching moving pictures on the screen 😁so no surprise there

@@maramkuraI agree with this. I've been watching Doctor Who since way back in the Classic era, and season 9 of new Who is a highpoint of Doctor Who. And there are a handful of stories in this season that really don't get the respect they deserve. This is one of them. Sleep No More. Hell Bent.

This is another one of those episodes that's not a fan favourite, which is a shame, because it's a good character episode and really gets to the heart of the who the Doctor is.
The Doctor makes a bunch of excuses for why Ashildr can't go with him, but it really comes down to something he said years earlier to River. "One psychopath per TARDIS". Ashildr is too much like the Doctor.

As for this episode, it's good and brings up an interesting topic, but I personally don't have anything to add. Can I just say that I like your understanding and insight, that an immortal companion is not suitable for the doctor and he will have to suffer, I really like listening to your thoughts :)
Message from the last episode, but I didn't manage to send it on time.
    1) A long time ago, when you watched Fires of Pompeii season 4 episode 2, you gave the episode a rating of 7.2, but the viewer rating was higher and you asked to say why that was?
The first is the concept and information about fixed points for the upcoming episodes.
Second, you finally know the reason and we can finally say why. It was because of this episode with Capaldi that the episode with Tennant increased, because it was the same episode where Capaldi took a face to remind himself of that day, so the rating Pompeii was increased.
    2) It’s a funny situation you have with your husband that he’s watching Clara’s return, I’m even curious whether you plan to warn him about the interesting relationship between them, not to mention the fact that this will become an important detail in the final episode, or have you decided to do without hints and just watch?
    3) In the Vikings episode, Vikings are certainly not barbarians, but I’ll add something interesting of my own.
Barbarians, sometimes live surrounded by forests in the summer, sometimes live in cold winters, wear furs, their accent is scary and frightening, but inside they are kind and cry when they step on a flower, these barbarians drink alcohol from wooden mugs like real masters, it’s not uncommon to fantasy barbarians see them with bears. One half of illiterate people generally believe that barbarians are a fantasy fiction and myth.
I will reveal a small detail - 8th century, Rurik, he traveled and settled on another land, he left his brothers and sisters because he wanted to end this way of life and build a fair, believing people, civilized, he abandoned his ambitions, he settled in the future Moscow and became our FIRST Russian Tsar. He was also a Barbarian.
Do you understand the logic? Stories are important to remember, Haha! Hello bear! :D With love from Russia :3

Thank you for your kind words.
Yeah I now know why that Fires of Pompeii episode has such a high rating :D
I do not warn my boyfriend about anything. He can watch the show on his own terms. I´m just there to support him if he has questions :)
Thank you for that Vikings story :)

Thanks for an as usual very good reaction and review. The episode, however, isn't a good one. The beginning is nice, but the villain is bizarre and a bit boring.

    • @MichaelJohnson-kq7qg
      @MichaelJohnson-kq7qg 6 месяцев назад +2

The 'villain' isn't the villain. The Ashildr story is about the curse of immortality.

@@MichaelJohnson-kq7qg I know, and as long as the story focused on that, it was allright. Then, it fell apart.

    • @MichaelJohnson-kq7qg
      @MichaelJohnson-kq7qg 6 месяцев назад +2

@@Tejiknasten I don't really see that. Is Liono kind of formulaic? Sure. But his purpose in the episode isn't to be a big threat, it's to force Ashildr to make a decision and really establish what the stakes of eternity are for someone like her. The 'villain' is a cat because the symbolism of the cat is friendly but deadly, and (as the Last Unicorn says) no cat anywhere ever gave anyone a straight answer.

    • @Tejiknasten

@@MichaelJohnson-kq7qg Well, the nice thing about sharing opinions is that it's free to have different opinions about the episodes. I'm happy you liked this episode even though I didn't. I did like the reaction, though. This is a very good youtube channel to follow 🫶

@@Tejiknasten I like her channel because she really doesn't care if you're 'supposed' to like an episode. I'm really looking forward to the reaction to Sleep No More, because that's a great episode that people just don't get, and I want to see if she gets it.
