Hi Nicole! Nice haircut.😊 "Do not... put the Pope in my bedroom!"😂 You've seen the Pope's actor before BTW - he was the Italian housemate in Turn Left that went to the labour camp. Computers usually only have ONE numerical processing unit: it couldn't cope with two simultaneous requests.
In “Smile” The Doctor said to Bill in regards to the vault “A long time ago, a thing happened. As a result of the thing, I made a promise. As a result of the promise, I have to stay on Earth. Guarding a vault” so when the flashback says a long time ago it’s just echoing the Doctor’s words. He promised to guard the vault for 1000 years and in the opening episode Bill suggests that some people think the Doctor has been teaching at this university for 70 years which means a fair bit of time has passed since the previous Christmas special. Missy has been in the Vault for all this time because the Doctor promised to guard her. I hope this makes things clearer in terms of timelines!
i feel like ya forgot that Doctor Who is an episodic show, not one single story connecting the entire season, sure there is a bit major plot often happening, but it always tends to happen at the start and the end of the season, the main beauty is the episodic stories
The Veritas episodes are not fan favourites, but they're fantastic episodes. Personally, I love them - and how they connect in to the end of both the 12th Doctor's arc and Missy's arc. Peak Who, even if they're not the most popular.
I really like this episode. But the way the CERN people - and the Doctor in particular - react to realising they are in a simulation makes zero sense to me. There's no way humans would unanimously conclude the logical reaction to that is to terminate themselves. They wouldn't suddenly decide their existence is meaningless, because its based on computer code, and not carbon. And the Doctor acknowledges and values sentient artificial intelligence all the time.
I think the reaction of the simulation doctor makes sense, because the lives of the real humans ate on the line and killing himself is the only way to stop them studying him. But I agree that the human reactions are unrealistic, not all of them would want to commit suicide, especially not so quickly
@@wolfwarrior9451 These are people smart enough to realize they are in simulation. And know why they are in simulation. They would also realize the consequences of letting the "demon" continue to study them. While most likely not all of them committed suicide we are only shown those who did. There are like 10 portals in the main room while the show only explores like 3 of them.
Without hope. Without witness. Without reward. 😢 (Capaldi delivers these lines.)

Every time❤️
Arguably the most important phrase of the Twelfth Doctor's run. And Missy's.
Never eat pears.

The moment with the Pope is SO FUNNY 😆😆😆

10:38 - The Doctor has a time machine..?
he looks like the peter doctor because time lords are very long lived
The "Pope" alternatively had a nice family that possibly were exterminated in a British Camp in "Turn Left".

visited cern a few years back. got the full tour incl. the ATLAS detector. if you ever get the chance, go go go. so worth it
I wish I´ll be able to go there some day. Thank you for the recommendation :)

Finally! My favourite Episode from this Season (if you don't count the Christmas Special)🥳🥰
Very cool
Is the Pope the guy from Turn Left?

I thought precisely the same thing. It can’t be a logical conclusion!
