Good comparison video, Josh I know you like to use the Subie blade stack when shaving and I'm not sure you mentioned that is what you used in your shave today. With 2 blades with the Subie stack it will be smooth and throw out the dial reading also. Anyways good demonstration of 2 great razors.

Nice one Josh! A great battle for sure and you're getting the Avanti dialed in. I'm a slant guy so the Slope would be my pick and hopefully I'll be getting one fairly soon. I think they knocked it out of the park with the Slope and It's different than any slant I know. An OC Slope would really be something! Great soap and splash and hard to go wrong with PAA. Great brushes and It's cool to see what Yaqi is doing there too! I think that they really flipped the script and Yaqi is a force to contend with. Have a great one buddy!

I know, old video. But I've had my High Proof razor for a couple of weeks and am blown away. By far the most consistent and closest shave with extremely little to no irritation. Yes, you can make an error by letting the razor slip sideways which will cut you, but that's operator error. What I have found is that this razor highlights the differences between blades. The razor minimizes variables, leaving essentially the prep and the blade as the real differences in a shave. Certain blades like Astra green or blue aren't likely a good choice, PAAs Strangelet is decent, surprisingly the Dorco Titan is really good and cheap too. But it's really clear that this razor was designed with the Personna blades in mind. I mean it's really obvious. This razor has replaced all of my other DE razors as my daily driver. I'm so glad that the comfort coated work so well as i just picked up a pack of 100. As an aside, if the cap pops off, check to make sure you only have one blade in the razor. Since the Personnas don't have any glue, printing, of etching, I accidentally had 2 blades and was wondering why I was getting razor burn & why the cap came off mid shave. Total operator error.

So I tried the ultima open comb to remove 7days growth last night and it went great. I was hesitant to shave so soon after this morning with the slope... WOW! what a smooth and mild razor! And the rounded corners are such a nice touch! So glad I took your advice and got these razors. Have a good one buddy!

My ultima open comb AND slope showed up yesterday. I used the open comb today to shave off a weeks worth of growth. Normally i try to shave every day and use a mild razor. I decided to give this razor a shot at setting 3 and turned out really good! Took it all off in 1 pass. I cant wait to try the slope! Maybe if i use it tomorrow ill stick with setting 1 😅

I have a Yaqi double comb DE head that's pretty sweet. It looks like it's based on an old design from maybe the 1930's. I see they also now make a head that takes the Artist Club long injector blades, but do they make one that takes the standard injector blades?

So i was doing research on the Maxwell June, and this video popped up. I was one of the unlucky people that got scammed by the company on their MK1 razors. After never receiving anything, I had to publicly call them out on social media to actually acknowledge my emails and give me a refund. After seeing this, I did some more research and found many complaints about the product and customer service in our community. So it seems they put out a crap update, and scammed people again. They have since gone under, and you can't find a trace of them online anymore. I sure hope they got what was coming to them.

Is the grip a reversed fluting style with concave indentations on a cylindrical body vs the original style Roman pillar grip on Merkur Progress? Is the grip better on this model than on progress?

Great Josh! Well, the razor is a mixed bag for me, which is unusual for a Yaqi razor. I have a couple of razors with that style of lather channels and I don't really use them. It does give it a sleek look, but unless you shave everyday, you'll get a build up even with a wet lather. I also would have thought that they would have updated the cap so you could only put it on one way to assemble it. It looks really nice, but I think that it needs some work. Have a great one buddy!

Nice shave and review. Would be cool if Yaqi followed the Progress with handle grip but still do the fluted design for ultimate grip. Alien soap looks great and love lime scents. My last 2 shaves with the original High Proof have been awesome since i have better hydrated lather. Have a great week buddy

Is it going to be as blade forward as the SS Final Cut? Would have expected more from this one given all the hype. Also had a rush of brown water / staining after the first few rinses. POS is gathering dust in my den and dealing with Yaqi customer service is a joke. I’m done with Yaqi razors. Will save up for US or Canadian made products. Karve, Timeless, Rex, Yates, etc.

I'm curious how these compare to Nacet. Sounds like the aggressiveness is comparable, but how would the smoothness and performance in multiple shaves compare?

The Konsul has been my best Razor for a while. Earlier this week I got a few tucks of Matt's blades sent to me in a small order I placed. Did the shave a few days ago. Head & Face. Loved it! Great blades. They are comparable with Perma-Sharps which is my GOAT. Cheers, Kevin

I'm definitely going to have to try these blades at some point. Matt's been spot on about Polsilver and Perma Sharps. If he likes these, I'm sure I'll enjoy them as well.

Subie I agree, I really like the new Rex blades. Bought 100 out of the gate. Love the double wrap and no glue, and of course the look of the package, which is distinguished imo. Where’s Mikes stand? I don’t see it? You have a link?

Great! Sounds like a nice blade and another possibility for a good choice. Yeah, almost all the Japanese blades I find rough, except for the Supply Black Label injector blades. Iridium seems to be my jam with the blades I like. Awesome razor and maybe you'll have to do a versus with the Yaqi Slope Adjustable. Pete's collabs have been awesome and I think he's been on a roll that just continues on and on. Have a great one buddy!

It’s become one of my favorite blades, immediately amazing and vintage razors. Yes they are more expensive but I get 5 to 6 amazing shaves out of each blade.

henson converted me from a cartridge shaver to a double edge razor shaver. I went straight for the aggressive. havent nicked or cut myself either and thats even jumping to a feather blade on 2nd time ever using the razor. I chose the aggressive because multiple reviews said in comparison to other DE razors it was more mild despite the name, and that it also was more efficient and being i dont shave every day but more like twice a week or 3 times a week, it could one pass, and it does. dont be scared of the aggressive model.

At the lower settings, how does the Parker Variant Open Comb compare to the original Yaqi Final Cut in terms of blade feel, smoothness and aggression?

That intro is so good!! Sci-Fi Lime is one of my favorites. I'm starting to see the bottom of my tub. This razor looks awesome! The angle and length seems really handy for shaving the back of my neck.

Nice! It does look like a better handle for head shaving. I still think an Enders Speed Shaver would be a great one with this head design. I'm still not much on the Feather or Gem blades and I'd like to see them do a head that uses a 1/2 DE or an Injector blade. Sci-fi lime is an awesome scent! Have a great one buddy!

Hi Subie, I want to buy the Shield Avenger Razor, the one with the narrower head. At the moment they are out of stock, both the brass and the stainless steel ones. I hope Mike is working and they go on sale soon. One question, what is the handle to choose for the Shield Avenger? I guess only the thinner handle will do.
