Surviving 2 Under 2: A Stay-at-Home Dad Day in the Life
It's a crazy story but this was the beginning of the rest of our lives.
1 year ago, I was a stay-at-home dad and it was by far the hardest job of my life.
Prior to this, I worked a 10 year career in construction but never loved it. I found passion for video production and started working towards making that a full time thing eventually. Meg and I decided that I would be able to go full time on my business once we were done having kids, so that's what happened.
We started having kids and Meg stopped working until we were done. After our second child, she went back to work and I quit my career to take care of the kids until our 2nd was 12 months and they both could go back to daycare (needed t...

    My husband and I always toss around the idea of moving up to Idaho. My dad and most of my extended family grew up and live up there but my parents moved to CA when my mom was pregnant with me so that’s where I grew up, minus a couple years my mom and I moved to Chandler. Currently living in Chandler and my husband and I love it, and had our first child out here but it’s so hard without the familial support, especially knowing we intend to continue to grow our family. It definitely makes the decision a tough one! Hope you guys still love your Idahome!

    I did this training with my daughter when she was 7,5 months and on the 2nd night she had learned it all and slept through the night. But with my son (we are doing the training for the 3rd time since he completed 5 months old and he’s still strugling to sleep. It’s so much more difficult this time…

    Two days in and on night two (last night) our girl slept all the way through the night.. didn’t wake up once. Night one was rough, she cried very hard for over an hour. Last night I put her in her crib and she cried pretty hard for about 5-10 min. Last night my wife and I both finally got a full night of sleep. Push through the first couple days with the crying and what not. So worth it. Good luck.

    It seems to me you were more focused about getting content. and listening to your own son and the fact that your own son tells you no pictures. it’s heartbreaking. parents using their children to make money off RUclips is disgusting it’s meant to come from a place of fun not business.

    We did that course too, and I can so relate to this video. It worked wonders when my little was 10 months. On the third night, it was game changer. I'm curious to know how it worked for you during the toddler years with your child?

  • @Hankandrex
    @Hankandrex 5 месяцев назад

    Had to do this with my first child. She would not gosh dang sleep and i was so sleep deprived and depressed that it was getting dangerous for me to take care of her. I was clumsy, I would set her down in places i otherwise wouldn't have if i had been well rested and thinking clearly, i was easily irritable, i probably wasnt driving well... Anyways - sleep training totally sucked and my daughter was an especially hard nut to crack -- but by god it worked! It was gradual but by the time she was ~15 months old, naps and bedtime were a breeze and enjoyable for both of us. I got my nights back, all my baby weight finally fell straight off, i had more energy and drive, i was a better parent, wife, daughter, friend, neighbor, employee, our house was cleaner, our meals were heathiler, our house functioned better in general. It was well worth front loading the stress and heartache with ferber method. My daughter excelled and was/is easy to teach just about anything. Speech came easy for her, potty training came easy, she learned to climb/jump/swim, she can dress herself/put on her shoes, shes currently 3y 8mo and already knows how to spell her name and other simple words. She knows how to do some simple things on the computer. I legit believe that her good sleep habits help her catch on to and retain things. She was born 6/2020 and she goes to school with kids born 9/2019 and she keeps up with them w/o issues. I dont worry about her at all. Shes a wonderful happy little child who we adore and love to spend time with. She sleeps well - through the night - in her own bed. She doesn't fight night time routine and she doesnt sneak into our bed after we fall asleep. She doesnt have any abnormal abandonment issues or any of that and infact i would say she actually now knows how to handle her emotions pretty well for her age and can cope with stress well. We currenly have an 8 month old son and i am refreshing all of this to try and sleep train him as he wakes several times each night and im starting to struggle with sleep deprivation issues again. I hope this is helpful to a struggling parent. ❤ You arent alone. Its ok to experiment a little bit and find something that works for you and your family and setting some boundaries so you can rest is not selfish! It is necessary so you can be more selfless in the long run. The benefits far exceed the detriments 💯

    Bro. Just saw your video of you enjoying riding with your dad. What a wonderful thing you got going there. My father passed away suddenly 2.5 years ago at 73. I still miss him everyday. I ride but he doesn’t but we do other things when he was still with us. Cherish those times my friend. I have twin boys that I will have them start riding next year. The mountain is a special place, a sacred place for father and son to share. Thank you for sharing.

    Avoid neck rub and have more secure strap position like this: Amooca Soft Auto Seat Belt Cover Seatbelt Shoulder Pad 2 PCS for a More Comfortable Driving Compatible with All Cars and Backpack Black Or make your own with a cloth diaper or washcloth, stitching and Velcro. Or simply wrap them with soft cloth, or cut pads from baby blanket and simply wrap. All pretty easy to do for those with that concern. Thank you.

    thank you for being brave to post this cause of the amount of hate. i tried sleep training and couldnt do it doesnt help when you are living with family members. he slept great till he had torticollis which caused him to wear the helmet like your son did. that ruined his perfect sleep. used to be able to put him down while drowsy and he would fall asleep... since the helmet... he would wake up alot. occasionally i had to put him back to sleep. now its occurring worse. he is now 8 month old i started tearing up when i heard your son cry. it sucks that i didnt keep trying heard that once they are older it will take longer... it sucks. glad i got to learn how its done. now just need to fight off my family members to get this done and not cry so much when i hear him. 😢

    Awesome video! I did this exact training and it DOES work so well. My baby started sleeping 11-12 hrs at night UNTIL he turned 8 months and started crawling. He has been sleeping in a floor bed since he was 5 months and since I trained him with this training. My baby’s sleep schedule went down the trash ever since he started crawling at 8 months😅😢😢😢😢😭😭😭 he also got sick… now he wakes up 3 or more times at night and I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing seems to work. Here we are at 10 months and he is teething more now & no sleep at all. My last hope is to start the training AGAIN from zero but we are doing it with a crib instead.
