Another icharger 406Duo Repair
Просмотров 3,8 тыс.4 года назад
I know, another icharger repair, but hey, they are always different, and it may help you fix yours one day. This one had been badly overheated, by discharging at 40 amps, which eventually damages the capacitors and FETs. Also someone had a go, but soldering was not good, and they missed the Fets anyway.

A Bunch of iChargers repaired. 308Duo and 406Duo
I have this table and wanted to change the cartridge. Pin wires are blue and brown/maroon on one side, black and grey on the other. I'm stumped by the fact they're all in a line, not stacked 2x2 like modern cartridges. Could you tell me how these colours equate to the usual blue red green white so I can wire it up correctly?
I notice that one manufacturer is using 120 KHZ transducers with a pulse mode I presume the transducers can be changed with modified circuitry ?
Test out cnhl lihv they look gr8 an cheap
Hello I have a cd player Technics SL-PS 840 with thre same diode laser like this one, suddenly he didn't read the cd anymore, so even if I cleaned the laser lentile and removed the dust from cell, nothing happened so I changed the diode laser and it worked for a while but the same defect came back, he doesn't read the cd's anymore remain 00 00 00 00 ont he display, I looked to the drawer and is going up but it doesn't read the cd's so the defect is in another part. Can you advice me where to look for the defect. I am sure now that the old diode laser is good too.
Very informative, I wonder though as I run GT12 (1s LIPO) what raneg of current would I be looking for using my AVO?
Can you test all new pack s cnhl intellect top ones
I like doing the same at what amp s are you discharging
Thank you for this! I tried using a heated blanket at 70 degs with two glass chopping boards, as I was wary of the oven method, however it could not get the glass up to temperature. So I tried your method but actually left the record and pre-heated glass in for about 2 hours with the door shut so the cool down was a lot slower (30 mins with the door open worked a little bit but not enough). Voila! very flat disc 1 of a previously bowed War of the Worlds (which was very thin compared to other records)
Whoops, spoke to soon! Slightly ripply disc 2, easily replaced thankfully. Will stick to 30 mins with door open from now on!
Do not blast the vinyl with air - have you ever heard about static electric loading? And what is that blower moving? Air and dust - so blow-drying is the best method of getting fine dust on to the record - well at least you got a cleaner -
Man, time flies.
Garbage turntable, and product developer got fired for this at Studer.
Wow ! this has to be the best video i've ever seen on the matter. Thanks for sharing :-)
Nice playing.
I have been looking at a wiring diagram for my bush record player and the diagram shows ECL83 valves. My record player has ECL86 valves. Is there any reason for the discrepancy?
SRP31 and SRP31C use ecl83 and the later SRP31D uses ecl86.
Hi ijust bought a SL7 in really good condtion. The only problem is it only has a signal only one channel I swapped the rca leads over and that changed the speaker without the sound. There is a hum and really low level of music on the problem side. Any ideas what that could be? Cheers
hello, I heard the opinion that the ultrasonic cleaner damages the high frequencies on the record? what do you think about it? Thanks
Had one dad bought me one at auction got it working brill sounding ❤ my first record player
Interesting mod, congrats for all the work & project. However, why took you so much to explain it? :-) It's a nearly half an hour video. I skipped much of it...
The G36 is a dog and ReVox's worst RTR in my opinion. Unreliable and inconsistent repro quality depending hours on tubes. Cost of tubes doesn't justify using this aside from a shelf showpiece.
So the v5r ideal timing would be at 46?
nice !! i have the same pickup !
Fix may EQ
hi Nick, if the platter is not rotating when hitting play whats the problem?
I prefer the more old school sound of the jtm60 over many other hyped marshalls like DSL,tsl,jcm900. The only other one I liked and kept for a while was the 2210 which is similar to the jtm60 imho. I always used a distortion/overdrive pedal anyway for heavier tones and singing leads mainly an mxr dist+ and half cocked wah plus wem copycat ...yes I'm that old.
your videos are fantastic, thank you for all you do!!!!!❤
Very nice restoration? Or like new find? Gramps used to say Garrrard the best. Turntable. I owned at one time a nice Thorens TD 166 M.Kit. II turntable. Wish I still had
Stunning, just stunning!!! Now I'm dreaming I have one in my room with "Beatles For Sale" on it!!
That amp may not be from 1973. Several things make it a late 70s variety. 2 input, lback grill, Bright volume instead of Brill Vol on the panel... although... the inside reveals it to be a 4 hole chassis, so perhaps a late faceplate on an older amp is the situation. Might have been done by hiwatt themselves in the late 70s. That would explain the period grill cloth of that era.
I can do repair soada70a
Alright now!😊
I put mine in an 18 watt cab with a greenback. Big improvement. Plus it saves wear and tear on the original cab.
Hello Nick! Excellent video. I have a complete set that my father acquired in 1984 new. Everything works for him. The only detail it has is that when you change the tape to side B, the tape gets stuck and tangled. Will there be a solution?
Can You send to me your broken laser pickup
You would happen to know what the chassis material is? Like aluminium or steel? I’ve got one I’m restoring.
Hi, I have an opportunity to acquire one of these beauties. The seller says the arm moves but does not stop at the record to play it. Goes in and back like there is no record type thing. I'd like to know what the issue is before buying it.
Theirs no reason to change the 202c as it’s a high quality boron cartridge with the original stylus or a JICO sounds better than Stanton.
I don't understand why so manny people put bsr changers down they really are quite good
Hi , I've just seen this video, I live in Peterborough and used to make the Sharma speaker cabinets along with my best mat, I worked there for 5 years, nice to see some still servicing.
Thank you Sir Nick for all the videos you have left for us to watch and learn more from it. The present and future viewers will surely treasure these videos that you made for us. RIP Sir. Thank you!
Wonderful piece of machinery. It was nice to hear Les Paul and Mary Ford too!
you ground down the idler wheel ! did the play back speed change ? , the diameter on the idler is made to match the playback speeds that are selected , when you ground down the idler wheel this will effect the speeds and not match the factory specs .
Thank you for that tip!
Hi, thanks for the video. Small question please, I`m looking for help. By my 1410MKII, the on/off button no longer comes up and stays down. Is this a known problem? Can it be repaired? Thanks
During my search for a tape echo, the Dynacord Super 76 was my main focus, but the WEM Copycat also piqued my interest. I did a lot of research and was excited to try it out, but every seller I contacted warned it was too fragile to ship. It was a big letdown because I had high hopes for this piece of gear. Even though I missed out on it, the Copycat is still on my wishlist, and I’m curious about other products from this brand. I love reviewing vintage equipment, so I hope to get the chance to try it eventually
Hang in there. I’ve shipped mine for repairs in the past and as long as your package sensible, not too much can go wrong. If you look after these units, they’re actually very reliable. Back in the day they got a lot of abuse and kept going. When you get them dialled in right, the sound is unique and fantastic!
Got one of these , Keep meaning to have It restored
For those who have this turntable and have come here because of the same problem I'm going to add something helpful that the uploader here either didn't know or forgot to add - The plastic plinth on this turntable shrinks a bit over time and one of the inner posts gets in the way of the linear transfer mechanism and will cause it to jam just as you seen here when he first powered it on, you can remove this plastic post or file it down so that it will no longer contact the carriage and it will run fine. But note those with higher end systems will notice a low frequency thump when the carriage moves. This is caused by the motor torque as it moves the carriage. These turntables had this problem right off the assembly line and were designed for their lower end stackables where it wasn't as obvious but playing on a high end amplifier with lots of bass you will hear a thump around every 6 to 8 seconds. Lubrication will not help as it's a design flaw.
Thanks Nick!
that sink works for an isolation base for clearer signal...I have the simpler version ...RP-4705...It is awesome

Holy Shit! You still had a working REVOX G-36, 10 years ago? That's amazing! That machine never got used. Those transport control interlocking pushbuttons. They all fail! Mine failed. My G-36 was given to me by my Mentor. He told me those transport pushbuttons would fail. And a few years later. No matter how gentle I was with them. They failed. Just like he said they would. So I'm completely amazed to see a working, REVOX G-36, vacuum tube/valve tape recorder that was still functioning. I'm sure it's not today. I'm sure it's in a landfill now. My had to go to a landfill. About 52 years ago. When those transport control buttons, failed. I thought I could fix them? But no. My mentor was right. He was real good. He was kind of famous. He was so good. He used to work for Bell Laboratories. He used to work for Johns Hopkins University. He was a top engineer. He had some really nice tape recorders. AMPEX, Presto, REVOX,, back in the day. In the late 1960s. When there wasn't anything else. Available in the USA. I would later get all of those myself. And Scully. And 3M. And MCI. Never a student. I had to work on those elsewhere. I didn't want one. They were finicky. You needed to be a Swiss watch repairperson. To work on those. But those REVOX machines. Were great! Never a lick of trouble. Workhorses. That's what they are. RemyRAD
