    Nice chanel! May i ask what you would recommend discharging a 2s shorty 4400mah lipo at? Thank you Craig.

    Nick Adams:
    What do you think of 2S1P vs 2S2P ? Most batteries seems to be 2P, but Gens Ace seems to use 1P on many batteries.
    I have looked at high mAh batteries.
    Thanks

    Hello Nick! I have a Question for i just bought a 1/5 scale car and it came with a 2000mah 6v nimh battery i have a 1700mah 6.6 life battery in your opinion which one will gve me a longer run time! Thank you! By the way i love your rc comparison videos!

      @nickadams5411  4 года назад

      Hi James. It will be very close. But it depends on how good your battery charger is. Life are quite difficult to fully charge , you will need to set the charger at 1 amp otherwise they switch off early. nimh are easier to fully charge but you must use a 2 to 4 amp charge rate. Do not use a low amp wall charger, as they never give a full charge.

      Nick Adams thank you nick i have a brand new hitec X2 ac charger! I wanted to use the life battery because of its smaller size this for a 1/5 scale Receiver and the servos are pretty big!

    Any plans ever to possible test the maclan lipos? They make a new one every year and have claims of it being lower ir better voltage curve but be interesting to see the tests and see if anything has changed from v2 to v3 etc.

      @nickadams5411  4 года назад +1

      Hi, I will try and get them to test. But recent high power lipos are getting so close in performance , it is hardly worth testing any more. The main difference is the thickness and weight. The thicker ones deliver more voltage and the heavier ones hold up the voltage for longer. So go for the lower priced ones such as Intellect IP. Their 8400 is the biggest and heaviest and delivers the best score. All the best, race on. Nick

    Have you ever tested the Turnigy nano-tech ultimate 6600 mah 2s2p 90c vs the Turnigy nano-tech ultimate 7500 mah 90c? I was just wondering if you have seen much difference in those 2 variants?

      Hi Bob. I did test the nano-tech against the graphen and found no difference. They were identical except for runtime was longer with high capacity.

      @@nickadams5411 we run 4 min heats and 75 lap mains (approx 5 min) I am hoping the 6600 mah will be enough I couldn't get any 7500 mah at this time probably because of the limited production during covid pandemic. let me know if you have any run down data on the 6600 mah

    • @nickadams5411
      @nickadams5411  4 года назад

      @@bobslavik6109 Hi Bob. My tests show up a general rule regarding performance of lipos. The power and ability to hold up the voltage in a race:
      When comparing lipos of similar capacity. The thicker the better (25mm is best). The heavier the better.
      So for a 6600mAh lipo choose the heaviest and the thickest.
      Race on. Nick

    Hi nick, what amp rate do you charge a 6000mah lipo?

    • @nickadams5411
      @nickadams5411  4 года назад +2

      Hi Matt. Most of the Manufacturers of these high power Lipos say a 3C charge rate is okay. Therefore up to 20amps is safe. I charge at 20amps for these tests.

    • @mattyoung901
      @mattyoung901 4 года назад

      @@nickadams5411 does the higher rate improve the performance or punch from the battery, or just speed the charging process up?

    • @nickadams5411
      @nickadams5411  4 года назад +1

      @@mattyoung901 Hi Matt. In my tests the faster rate does not do anything except speed up the process. Some racers discharge their lipos to heat them up and then try and charge them before they cool, and then race with a heated lipo, which can give a power boost for about 3 laps. But if the lipo has returned to ambient temperature, then there is no benefit.

      @@nickadams5411 great information nick thanks.
      One other unrelated question, what servos are people using these days in 1/10th on road? Do people still use "full sized" or are they all low profile?

    • @nickadams5411
      @nickadams5411  4 года назад

      @@mattyoung901 Hi Matt. Touring cars !/10th electric, all use low profile steering servos. There are a few to choose from. Savox, Sanwa, CoreRc, XPert. The Savox is popular (1251MG or 1252MG) I like the Xpert brushless motor servos. Some have metal cases which add weight and are not necessary for these cars. All the best nick

    Hi, What about not fully charging LiHV's they need 4.35Volt per cel. but what happens when you only charge them constantly at 4.2Volt. lazy cells? cell-life?

    • @nickadams5411
      @nickadams5411  4 года назад +3

      Hi Erwin Lipo do not act like Nimh and Nicad batteries and do not have memory effects or develop high resistance if not fully charged/discharged. Lipos used to benefit from not being fully charged , as the last part of the charge to full could degrade the anode/cathodes with impurities. But now that is not a problem and lipo can be charged to the maximum. But they are perfectly good to only part charge. However note that the run time (capacity) will be up to 10% less than the rating if only charged to the 4.2V cut off. The lifetime will probably be the same.

    • @cowpker4life333
      @cowpker4life333 4 года назад

      Ive heard all lipos can charge up to 4.4-4.5v a cell just some are better quality cells and tske it better then others along with I've heard every
      .07v over 4.2v you half the life time every .07 under 4.2v you double dont know if its true or not could very well be out dated information as lipos have gotten very constent the last few years. Lipos could always be charged to the higher voltages but they just never had good life span until past few years with improments in amount of cycles they can take and improvements so voltage isn't damaging the cells as much as before.
