The Camden Haven is improving at last
After months on too much fresh and dirty water in both the Hastings and Camden Haven rivers things are improving. Wind can be a bit of a challenge as I don't like 25Km and over. A gentleman fisher these days. Today turned out a bit of a win though. Enjoy.

The Hastings after the rain
Просмотров 6882 года назад
About nine weeks since my last video. The rain has not been very kind. Time to travel up to the Hastings River and see if things have improved on the flathead front.
My Fishing Gear

I have had several requests for what gear I use for my flathead fishing. Here is a quick summary of what I keep in the Stacer boat.
Chasing flathead in winter

Back up to the Hastings to chase flathead in winter. The cleaning table indicates that there are a few around. Emphasis on a few.
A Good Day on the Hastings

After no luck in the Camden Haven River since months of rain, I decided to try my luck in the Hastings River. This turned out to be a good move.
After the Rain

This was my first trip out for about nine weeks. After two months of mostly consistent rain I wanted to check out the Camden Haven. The water is still dirty and nothing changed. This will give you a look at Watson's Taylor Lake and the river.
A Day on the Hastings

Well the rains continue here in the Camden Haven. A break occurred last Sunday so I headed up to the Hastings to see if it was performing better than here, as the next seven days had rain forecast. Whilst the water was better than here, my result was not much different.
Fishing after the Mid North Coast rains

Well here we go again. Unlike those around us we never got the floods this time. Just plenty of dirty fresh water. After over five hours fishing all over the place, I ended up with a doughnut. Enjoy the journey.
More flathead in Queens Lake
Просмотров 6022 года назад
Over the last couple of weeks Queens Lake has been producing some good catches of flathead. Hoping that this will continue today.
Time to visit Queens Lake
Просмотров 7152 года назад
This week I made two visits to Queens Lake after an absence of nearly a year. The flathead were really on the chew on the Sunday with a good number caught the following Wednesday.
Time for a bigger net

Took advantage of the weather conditions and put the boat in. Stayed at the lower part of the Camden Haven River and did not venture up to Watson's Taylor Lake. Compared to recent trips out this was a very successful day out.
Fishing the clear water
Просмотров 7082 года назад
Normally I head up into Watson's Taylor Lake which most of the time has been muddy. The result of all the rain we have had. This time I started off at the lower part of the river near North Haven in clear water. Was more productive than the lake has been. Might be a sign.
Back on the water

Finally able to get back on the Camden Haven River after poor weather. Winds mainly. Still chasing flathead. Watson Taylor is full of dirty water from the rains.
A Nice Big Girl Turned Up Today
Просмотров 3982 года назад
After a couple of week being grounded because of rain or wind I was able to get on the water today. Great day out but the fishing could have been better. A nice 59cm flathead was a good reward. Plenty of boats on the water today with all appearing to be in hunting mode. Ran into one viewer who has the same model boat as mine. Good to meet him.
No fishing today.

This video shows the Camden Haven area that I fish. It travels up Stingray Creek, into Queens lake, back up the Camden Haven River into Watson's Taylor Lake. It is a long video as the full trip shown. In the interest of time it does not travel across Queens Lake to Heron Creek, nor move up Watson's Taylor Lake into Mosquito Strait to join up with Camden Haven River again. A large screen will im...

Still looking for flathead two weeks after the flood
Love the video mate. Gained a follower. How does stingray creek itself fish? Looks like pristine flathead territory. The lake looks massive, and hard to pinpoint where to target fish in the lake in such a vast bit of water.
Would like to have heard the noise the unit makes, as I've heard they can be quite loud. Thanks for the video.
Great vid Foss, subscribed
Great review. I’ve just become your 500th subscriber. 🎉
Thanks mate. Good video. Good information
Thanks mate for putting this together - alas not too many videos still about the Stacer ranges. Hope you're well.
If you're worried about competing with commercial fishermen go to the Hastings. Or do you want the Camden haven to yourself as well?
Are you still alive?
Well good video and good and bad points about the boat
Excellent thanks 😊
Hi mate, nice review. I just bought a 420 Renegade SC - wondering what shaft length you have for your trolling motor?
55hp. From top of motor to head 1480mm
Just wanted to say thanks very much for the videos. I live in Kendall and just bought another boat a month or so ago and thanks to your tips finally caught a nice feed of flatties today. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍
Good luck with the new boat. Interesting to hear you got a good feed of flatties. My mates are still little to no luck. Have not had my boat in for a while now.
@@fishingwiththefossil.6199 Fourth outing. Other three no luck. First proper outing with some of the lures you recommended however. They’re a lot more fun than feeding pickers with bait hey. 😊
Good honest review cheers mate
hope you start making videos again. but without the music. The song drives me mad.
Hey! It's been a while since you've uploaded a video, hope you're doing well. We love watching your videos and hope that we'll see you out on the waters soon 😊
Love you Videos are you still doing the videos have see one for 7 months
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you Peter. I have only had the boat in once during that time. A few things have interfered with my getting out, the main one being that fishing in the river and lake is not what it used to be. Even the pros are complaining. Will most probably wait until the water warms up a bit and see it things improve. Thanks for your positive feedback.
@@fishingwiththefossil.6199 It same up here at Urunga
Can't believe you didn't use a net on that fish.
Great bud, thanks very much. You said you have a breaker trailer….any idea of the combined weight as I drive a small Jimny. Thx Greg
I watched your video on the boat review and followed you here. Your vids are informative and relaxing, so I've liked and subscribed.
Thanks for subscribing. Pleased you enjoyed the videos. Hope to get back on the water soon.
Love your videos. We have stayed a few times at a house up at Camden Heads, and it is a lovely area. Only done shore fishing (seen and caught nice bream and flathead at the boatramp at the entrance to the lagoon). Also bought nice mullet at the fish and chip shop! Just bought a Stacer 429 Seamaster - hope to bring it up!
Hi. Love watching your videos of our local area. You have taught me a few good tricks and places to try. I wonder if it is possible to contact you directly to have a chat about a piece of gear you use. What is best way to contact you? Regards. Steve.

Awesome. Just bought one of these in Brazil. Is it not fully retractable, thou?
Hahaha, not a jew fish. is a big green back Taylor.
The water is so calm. Nice day to fish. Does your Terrova have auto deploy?
Great to see your new video. I really enjoy them. I bought one of those Atomic Arrowz rods you recommended. Very sensitive to use.
Never regretted buying this rod. Needs a new runner on the tip.
Improvement Foss, but still a bit slow, hey??? Thanks for sharing, have a great Christmas.
Thanks. Trust you had a good one. All the best for the New Year.
Morning Fos, that was certainly an improvement mate.
Still a bit slow though. Tourist season at the moment so will have to pick my times for the next couple of weeks.
Good to see you back on the water, looks like the same old story but the good times are coming-maybe?
Hi there, I have the same boat as you & want a Minn Kota. Which one do you use & would you buy it again?
Hi Ellen. I have the 55lb Terrova connected to a dedicated deep cycle 140Ah Giant Power battery from Aussie Battery. Over the last six months a problem has developed but i have not had time to investigate. After running for less than two hours the motor does not want to both steer and travel - it is one or the other. Anchoring is OK. However , from time to time the spot lock switches off and I have to invoke it again. In short, I don't know if the battery is failing, or the MinnKota controller is the problem. Aussie Battery claims the battery is designed for 12 years. Though this means nothing with battery technology. When both were new I was running almost continuously for 5 -6 hours. Sorry, not a lot of help.
Was hoping for another video, looks like things will be a bit slow for a while with more heavy rain coming.
Nice to see you back have you gave up on the Camden?
You've sent your weather to Eastern Victoria, Foss. Good to see you back!
Good to see you back Fos, how are the rivers looking after all the floods??? Still a lot of fresh water coming down them
Good to have you back mate 🤙👍👍
Thanks. Just hope things improve from here on.
Fossil you ok mate been awhile since you posted.
Thanks for the inquiry Aaron. All is well except for the fishing. Since the last fishing post I have put the boat in a couple of times with no success. With all the rain we are having here the amount of fresh water and mud is really messing things up. Believe the odd fish is being caught in the estuaries but nothing much. Was hoping to put the boat in last Wednesday, though the day was fine we had just finished four days of rain with plenty of mud. Can only hope.
@@fishingwiththefossil.6199 Hopefully this weather event will pass and the fishing will improve. I do see the pro's heading into Queens on a regular basis that cant be helping things. I've recently move to the area and found you vids very informative thanks and keep up the good work.
Good onya a great and honest review for anyone looking at this type of boat. Well done
Thanks Darren. Pleased that you enjoyed it.
Haven’t see you in a little bit, hope you’re doing well; love the videos !
Hi Hayden. All is well, thanks for enquiring. Have had the boat out four times in the last 8 - 10 weeks. Results not worth producing a video. I follow a few other fishos up and down the coast from here and none have produced a video in that time. I can only assume that it is the amount of fresh and mud in our rivers that are causing this. Will continuing trying, though the forecast for summer is not promising.
Hi Bob I just had a few questions, would I be able to email you please? Thanks in advance
That's fine. Will give you an email address that I don't use any more. bobrobinson0701@gmail.com
Hey mate - how's things? Haven't posted in a while. Been quiet on the fishing front down there?
Been shocking. Have had a couple of outings but not worth a video. Recent rain has dirty water again. Hoping to get out next week - weather permitting.
Thanks for the honest, down to earth review! What a diference to listen to you, or a boatdealer?
When you said it's hard to throw the leg over you were talking about your boat weren't you ! Lol
Two thumbs up for this one Bob. Very informative mate.
Thanks for your efforts Foss. Trout fishing has had the similar limits for a long time now. 10 trout per day / per Angler with a possession limit of 20, not sue if that has changed inline with the salt water limits. These ridiculous rules are made by people who don't fish & enforced by people who can't fish. They're all very happy to accept our money though, aren't they?
Some areas are likely to benefit from this regulation change. However in places like the Camden Haven where the professionals net the buggery out of the two lakes I can't see it making much difference.
Thanks so much for sharing. I bought exactly the same Arrowz rod when Anaconda had a sale recently and I’m looking forward to chasing a few flathead with it, either with plastics or trolling with a little Pontoon Crackjack hardbody. It’s a shame they can’t standardise slot limits. In Queensland the minimum for dusky flathead is 40cm with a maximum of 75cm.
JH I am sure you are going to love your new rod. More than happy with mine.
Thank you Bob - very interesting. Hope the bag limit doesn't come north either. Another great video
Thanks Grant.
Thanks Grant.
Thanks Bob, it was good to see your set up. Can't believe the restrictive 5 flathead regulations, and to have the five in the freezer is very Orwellian. Hope this doesn't come South, on Port Phillip bay some days you would have your limit in a half hour.
As the saying goes Bryce, it is what it is. The way the Camden Haven has been fishing over the last few years the new limit will not be a problem. So long as we can keep catching a feed.
Always enjoy watching the Foss chasing his Flathead. Come down South to Lakes Entrance with me Foss, & let's chase these winter Whiting!!
Sounds fun but too cold down there. Prefer to stay here with all this damn rain.
Another good vid Bob. Think I’m going to have to come down and get some flattie lessons from you....
Don't think you will need any lessons Rob.
Thanks for the video. A beautiful day on the water and lots of bites with a few good ones thrown in. Your boat’s set up impressively for that sort of fishing. What’s the rod and reel combination you’re using?
Nice work Fos.
Thanks Shane
