Hope you are having better luck than I am at the moment. My fellow fishos are all doing it tough. Not sure what to blame. been going on for months now.
@@fishingwiththefossil.6199 As you are, we are now locked down in VIC, even in East Gippsland where we've never had an infection. I'm well & truly over these clowns running our lives. NO FISHING!!!
Tough going. Feel for you. As you may be aware I am on the NSW Mid North Coast. We have the standard rules - masks indoors, social distancing, etc. However we can move around and go fishing - at the moment!
Back in the late 90's and early 2000's I did a few trips with a Port Macquarie fishing guide in his boat up the Hastings and Maria rivers. Those trips were usually in December when the Cicadas were in full voice. On each trip we went to a section of the Hastings a few kilometres upstream of the Pacific Hwy road bridge and flicked jointed, floating Taylor Made cicada design lures that have ultra wide clear plastic bibs towards oyster covered rocks along the northern banks of the river. Using this method we caught several nice size bream up to about 1 kg on each trip. The trick that took me a while to learn was to cast the lure very close to the rocks, give it a couple of tiny twitches while barely moving it and then just let it float there while the bream circled and swirled around it until one eventually smashed it. Sight fishing like this takes bream fishing to a whole new exciting level - just like sight fishing for trout and bonefish. Have you tried this method of bream fishing on the Camden Haven River or anywhere else ?
Great vid! Love the oyster lease footage. That gets the casting thumb twitching mate! I'm continually impressed at how our little Stacers sit so flat in the water for a small boat.
As you know Rob, a very stable boat. Have had four on board, all moving around at times, and no rocking of the boat at all. On my own a very stable platform.
If you do go up the Hastings surface lure fishing for bream then it should make for some great RUclips fishing action videos. I can't remember if tidal stage was a factor for picking the best times to do this style of fishing but you could make some enquiries first. I've also fished a couple of times with an excellent fishing guide based in Port Macquarie who offers this style of fishing - his operation is called Castaway Estuary Charters
Well done Foss, very enjoyable out there on a day like that. I have the exact same boat setup as yours. Cheers.

Have you ever fished the Camden Haven River upstream of Watson Taylor Lake or Cathie Creek or Lake Innes ?
