Foss - another good video but I couldn't hear some of what you were saying due to wind noise. Have you considered getting a foam windshield for your microphone for windy days ?
Peter I shoot continuously with two GoPro cameras. The one mounted at the back of the boat has an external mic with a dead cat to remove wind noise. The problem with the intro is that I shot it on a DSLR and did not think the wind was as bad as it was. The outro was shot with the same camera and no wind noise. But appreciate what you are saying.
Do you think the fishing in Watson Taylor is generally better than Queens Lake because the river feeding Watson Taylor (ie the Camden Haven River) is significantly bigger that that feeding Queens Lake (ie Herons Creek) ?
Peter the real answer is "who knows". Going back about three years, before drought, fires, and floods, Queens Lake fished really good. In fact, I hardly ever went up to Watson's Taylor as I live near the QL boat ramp. My fishing friends nearby did the same. Now all of us fish mainly WT. As you appear to know the area you will be aware of Mosquito Straight that allows you to get from WT into the river running up to Kendall. Fishing MS can some time be productive, however I have not had any luck in the river starting from MS. Same with my fishing mates. So not sure how much of a feeder the river is. I suspect that most fish are coming from the ocean end. Re QL and Herons Creek - I have a friend who has land next to HC, not far from where it enters QL and they do catch the odd flathead and bream in the creak. Then in both lakes is the question of professional netters. My personal opinion is that this is overdone. They net of a night and leave their boats in the lake during the day so you can get a feel on how many are netting. As I said at the start, "who knows".
@@fishingwiththefossil.6199 Thanks Foss. I remember as a kid fishing with my parents one day from the bank of the Camden Haven River a few hundred metres downstream from the old Pacific Hwy road bridge. My father caught a nice tailor that day probably around a pound and a half in the old money. About 20 years later I went back to the same spot by myself and also caught a nice tailor but a little smaller than the one my father caught. A few years ago I launched my Hobie fishing kayak into the Camden Haven River near the existing Pacific Hwy road bridge and trolled a couple of small lures. I caught a few small chopper tailor trolling near the bridge pylons. Tailor spawn in the ocean so I suspect the lower Camden Haven River between Kendall and Watson Taylor Lake holds a bait fish population that attracts predators like tailor.
Always good to visit old spots. Like visiting old mates I reckon.
Rob, in the time since I last fished there it had changed a lot. Most probably the recent flood.
Good to see you getting out more often now we are allowed. Enjoy the videos, thx.
It is good Bryce. Still have to watch the winds though.
Love your videos not many filmed around here so I’m loving them😀
Thanks Rusty. It is one of the reasons that motivated me to start putting videos out.
Amazing
I like fishing 👍👍👍
Thanks.
