I don't care to become rich or wealthy in this temporary ass existence. Can't take any of it with us. My only wish would be to be financially free so i could buy my time and freedom back and do things that i actually enjoy. Maybe 1-2 million and then be super frugal with it. You are right especially people living on a low fixed income and retirement, I am 64 years old not rich never was never made good income in my younger years I got sick and now only get $896.00 per month social security disability. I just survive being very frugal I do sell some of my work on ebay for extra income but that varies month to month but helps. No way I can work a full-time job with my health and old age I am done with that bullshit. I just want to enjoy the rest of my life in peace I do not care about making tons of money anymore and the stress the young can deal with that. All that money and materialism the wealthy have will mean nothing when they die, we are all equal in death.

By the time I made the conscious decision to renounce the world I realized I had already done it. Somewhere along the way I just stopped trying to engage with the world. I stopped working and having friends and relationships. Nothing is worth it. I've been living a relatively isolated existence, and I never intend to go back out there again. If other people want to cut each other's throats just to accumulate a bunch of useless crap, all the power to them. I'm just a passerby.

What they tend to mean by that is you work hard to impress someone else who will give you a promotion to a better paying job but if you're a slacker you stay at the same entry level job. I viewed an interesting vid yesterday as a matter of fact entitled "Why I Stopped Spending Money....Extreme Minimalism" by Connie Riet. This woman, maybe in her late 40s, said that back during the financial crash of 2008 she was in her 20s and was very materialistic, having to have the big beautiful house, fancy cars & clothes but she lost it all including having to sell her furniture. Afterwards, she did go through withdraws of wanting to still shop, but eventually overcame those urges & now lives a minimalistic lifeystyle. She & her husband spend what would be going towards the mortgage payments on that fancy house to travel instead..

i honestly think material things are a trap for humans. Its a never ending cycle of wanting something more and more. No matter what you buy your never happy.
