To the people who told you that you weren't grateful enough to have been provided the time and attention of an AD salesperson that showed you a few Rolex pieces, and a pretty poor effort at doing that as well... What else are salespeople meant to do? Discuss out the back with their manager which flipper to allocate the popular models to at the next shipment of watches? Perhaps... Congrats on getting your dream watch. Very happy for you.

Itis what it is. Thats the way they want to do it, they dont want to sell it to anyone with just money, they want to besure they sell to peoeple with certain values. Thry can do it because everyone wants a rolex and they can filter. You like it, fine. You dont like it you dont get one. Simple.

I don't think you fully understand what horology actually is. Horology isn't about watches or movements or cases ect horology is actually the study of time

My experience with Rolex ADs has been awful every time. I usually go and wear a luxury watch like one of my Grand Seikos or Omega and they talk to me like I am not worthy of their time.... Panerai has the same appointment system but my experience there has always been positive... This is why I don't go to Rolex ADs any longer, the attitude sucks...

I had zero problem getting 2 new watches from a local AD. I know how to dress and play the part. Plus, my family has a history and my last name fascinates many people. I had contacted a local AD now that my wife is graduating med school and I wanted to buy her a Rolex and as well as myself. There is a 2-3 year waitlist on the Pepsi batgirl etc. He then mentioned due to my large size ( I’m 6’3 240 lbs muscular) he said he had a large watch that would look normal sized and great on me so I asked to see it. When he placed it on my wrist = I was sold and fell in love with my sea dwelller gold !! Slept with it the first week haha. Bought one for my wife as well. I still wanted the Bruce Wayne which he explained the situation and I told him ok place me on the list however I have a medical illlness so I joked let’s see who lasts the longest hahaa. 5 weeks later, he called me in and told me to bring my bank card again which I did not ask questions and did what he said. There was a bottle of dom along with some finger foods and he told me to close my eyes and placed a watch on me .. he then said open them … It was a bat girl and I immediately fell in love again although not as much as with my sea dweller gold. I was sold and thanked him over and over as I know there is a 2-3 year waiting list on it and people who deserve it ahead of me. This was in the west cost where people have money and know how to attend a Rolex or other high end store. I asked why? And he said idk, we liked you, you sufres great with the whole suspenders Sicilian dress code, and I wasn’t pushy nor seemed out of place. That i fit the type of client they want for life especially with my wife becoming a Dr as a + and me being a veteran. Yes the market is crazy and on fire for these Rolexes however , you have to somehow stand out from the pack it seems

Yep, This is a typical Rolex experience! Just say no to Simping for Rolex. They are trite anyways. There are so many other MUCH more interesting, and BETTER, watches to own. I would be embarrassed to wear a Rolex anymore.

Thanks for your thoughts - I think the majority of us feel this way but don't want to be seen badmouthing our Rolex overlords - that being said your video definitely left me divided: On one hand you should be able to simply go into a store and buy something you want without having to jump through hoops - on the other hand as someone with a decent purchase history if customers were just walking into a store and acquiring pieces i'd been grafting towards for years - i'm sure it would annoy me (not that it doesn't happen).

This video screams entitled. Just because you have the money doesn’t mean someone has to sell you anything. Sales associate gave good advice and made you aware they tend to sell those to those who establish relationships with the stores.

You can always get your desired Rolex from China for a fraction of the price and put the rest of the money to a more useful case :)

I can’t stand how they advertise “eSteel” on the dial, it’s not a feature! It’s great that they are using it but, I don’t want it advertised right on the front of the watch.

Reflect on yourself. Think about why did the SA go through all the trouble by showing you all the other watches but not those you wanted. What was the point he was trying to make. I don't know why he chose to do that but certainly I think you probably rubbed him off the wrong way or by your demeanour in the store. I went in wearing a panerai and got offered two highly sought after datejusts within two weeks. Should be getting my GMT in the next few months.

I understand people hating the price on this watch but im currently putting money away to get one. I dont have a breitling and have been a die hard gshock guy my whole life. Everything about this watch minus the price speaks to me and i think its awesome that a big luxury brand made a watch like this.
