In 2020 the Oyster Perpetual's rrp was $8,600 AUD. Any Rolex watch, let's for instance say it is worth $10,000 USD. The Authorised Dealer's get them for $6,200 off of Rolex. They then list them and sell them for $10,000 and make $3,800 profit OK. Rolex with their $6,200 are also making a profit to pay their staff and parts and costs. So you can see the mark up on these watches. They cost approx $2,000 USD to make. This is constant across the board. Knowing this will help you/anyone understand the Golden Ratio.

Yeah it’s crazy, and just like a series of other brands their constant 6 or 12 monthly price increases seem excessive to say the least.

Where do you get the figure 2000dollers to make a rolex.
You do realise that these are machine made mass producted product with undecorated movements and closed caseback.
None precious metals rolex don't even cost 200dollers to make.
Sorry but the number you have given is so far from reality

Thank you for the video. It is nice to see that it if finally going back to earth even knowing that I will most likely never be able to afford one anyway.
The problem in my opinion is that if you are redy to pull the trigger band buy one, you'll go to AD and no matter what the market shows, they will still play the game with you.

I agree, that's a ton of money to pay for a mechanical watch that's inaccurate by ± 2 - 4 seconds per DAY It's ridiculous when one thinks about it, we are now living in the mega-quartz age, today you can buy a high end mega-quartz watches that's accurate to ± 5 - 10 seconds per YEAR for a fraction of the price, even a classic mega-quartz from the 50s is far superior in accuracy than a new mechanical Rolex today.
My high end 55 year old mega-quartz Longines Conquest has gained 9 seconds from the start of day-light saving till now almost 4 months, that puts shame on any mechanical watch, agree? So why are so many watch enthusiast so negative towards high end quartz watches, the answer is simple, watch enthusiast have been brainwashed into believing that quartz is inferior to a mechanical watch by clever marketing, creating millions of quartzphobic enthusiast worldwide.

In Australia, many of us buy our Swiss watches when travelling overseas ("Duty Free"). Hong Kong & Orchard Rd. Singapore are the preferred places. As long as the retailers sign & stamp all receipts/documents, we're good forever. Jess + wife do have a good eye for local Rolex allocation however.

I have a few quartz watches and love that I can grab it and put it on without having to set the time or wind etc. I think they’re great, but I also love the intricacies of an automatic or mechanical watch. Thanks for the comment!

Former President Sarkozy was pressured to nominate a well-known luxury brand to make an example of. You think he's gonna put LVMH Group luxury watch brands through the mincer? Cartier maybe? The EU Trade Commission came for Apple, Google, Volkswagen, Crédit Lyonnais et al. Liechtenstein Global Trust in Vaduz has Rolex's coffers well sealed, my friend.
