I bought the Tudor GMT in 2019 when it was released and the date wheel issue showed itself after one month (it got stuck between dates). I sent it in for repair under warranty three times and each time it came back with the same problem. I asked the Authorized Dealer where I bought the watch for a refund and he refused. I asked, what good is the warranty if they can't fix it? He said to just keep sending it in. Each time I sent it in, it took three months to get it back. It was actually at the repair center longer than on my wrist. Finally, my warranty ran out and when I went to send it in again, he said I would have to pay out of pocket for a new movement. He also said that it still won't fix the problem anyway. Well, now it's 2023 and I am on the Rolex forum, and I see people still complaining that the date wheel issue is still going on. Watchmakers have been making date wheels work successfully for a hundred + years, yet Tudor (with all the help and expertise from Rolex) can't even get a date wheel to work right. It makes no sense. Their warranty is garbage. Spend your money elsewhere folks. Buy a Longines.
@@AussieWristWatchjust joking folks, it's slap the cheeky thief with a false advertising lawsuit, in the UK there is something called cheeky wanker lawsuit ie fraud and selling something's that is not what is advertised, it costs around $120 for a letter sent to him or her for a solicitor..,.which should frightened them into giving you what you paid for
Tudor Pelagos (OG 42mm) an oustanding piece for sure amazing value and avoids the tacky 'Rolex homage' watch that others suffer from (Black Bay 'Pro' for example)
I heard somewhere that Tudor is what Rolex was 30 years ago. I think I agree. I own a Submariner and GMT BLNR and while they can perform as a tool watch, imo they’re a bit too “luxury” in materials and construction. That’s one of the reasons I purchased the Tudor Ranger instead of the 40mm Explorer. It’s more low key and fits the field watch vibe better. I just wish they could slim down some of their models.
I’ve owned the Black Bay 41 and BB chronograph. Currently have the BB58 blue and the BB48 silver case. All great watches IMO - value, design, history, quality. Having said that I know of too many people who have had QC issues so I think you have to say it’s a mixed position. Thanks for the video.
Agreed I think it's a cash cow for foolex, And if this lady is prepared to pay over $10,000 for a watch that looks nice , Me thinks she should care alittle bit more about the engine in it , As if you don't change the oil now and again she will just get some jewelry that doesn't work
In Greek, pelagos is stressed on the fist syllable (πέλαγος). I can't find the word in an English dictionary, so who knows how we're supposed to pronounce it? I've been tempted by Tudor, but not really seen one I want enough. I ws tempted by the BB GMT, but ended up buying the Longines Zulu Time.
Yes! Oh my goodness I only just realised this. Which is something my mother would be appalled at, because we are Greek!! I also asked a Tudor AD and he said ‘however you want’!
my first nice watch - a few years ago - the TUDOR PELAGOS blue dial 42mm titanium bracelet - fabulous Lum , great blue tone, it is very nice. ive tried to get the Tudor black bay chrono white dial - hard to get it/ AD . be safe JL. ~ JDS/CT

I think you might be ahead of me on this curve because I'm still very sceptical about Tudor. I don't doubt that they are a quality offer, but they do seem overshadowed by the Rolex connection, and likewise they seem pretty beige and a little bit dull (hey - I am happy to be wrong if I'm wrong). I also find it off putting that if you go on some forums that houses Tudor owners, they are actually mimicking Rolex owners (I've even seen posts saying things like "I got on the call" on a BlackBay??) and a snobbish preoccupation with questions like "Are Tudor actually better than Omega?" and the status of the watch. It's like (forgive me) 'little man' syndrome. I do get it - divorce all that baggage - nobody has ever told me that a Tudor is anything less than a fabulous watch. I am still put off though. Maybe the penny will drop with me and I'll change my mind too. For the money (new) - competitive - but in the preowned market you can get some *awesome* watches at those prices...
I get that for sure, I wouldn’t compare to Omega as a direct ‘competitor’, I also find the whole this brand is better than the other funny. Each brand has their own qualities.
Do not take this the wrong way, but you should value yourself a lot more after a year and a half! Try to trust your own experience (which you are fortunate enough to have a lot of) and instinct, rather than the BS you have seen on RUclips. If anything Tudor are less attractive (less VFM and some very poor new models) now than a year or two ago IMO The main thing is that's its not about brands, its about models within the brand ; ) My two pennies is avoid aluminium bezels like the plague! 42mm Pelagos, or a gorgeous used 'Advisor' would be my picks for you both xx I managed to get a BB Steel after it was discontinued, but unfortunately missed the boat on the Mocha dialled Advisor :(
if I’m going to drop half the value of a Rolex on a Tudor, I still would rather wait and buy a Rolex instead. I think if you already own a Rolex, then Tudor could be an option. Not the other way round,
You can get it wrong once, but not twice or more. Can't understand all the Rolex grandstanding whilst they r still feeding their AD fiasco. Made to feel like beggars to buy their watches.
Rejoice ye repentant Tudor sinner. Rejoice in a Pelagos 42mm - ideally the original where Tudor managed to cram most of the bible in the bottom half of the dial. Im wearing mine as I type. Have a good weekend.
Thanks, I think I can take advice... I know most know a lot more, so always after their thoughts. Feel free to give me an example of where I haven't heeded advice.
@@AussieWristWatch Well I suppose the one that confuses me the most is that you seem to have the polar opposite view of Rolex AD's to Talking Timepieces Tony. I guess you will say it was your experience, but the reality is that, as a RUclipsr, you are in the bash Rolex AD camp, and Tony is not. My experience is like Tonys, and its annoying when what I see as a myth is perpetuated in the watch community. I obviously cannot comment on anyones AD experience when I was not there, but I have witnessed enough to know that people make stuff up about the visit (am not saying you have) when the outcome is not what they had wanted. As you like Rolex's (and Tudors) now, I hope you will find another AD that you are happier with, and report on it soon. Tony and I both seem to have several, so there must be one In Australia I would have thought.
