    Beautiful guitar. I figured you would go for the PRS. Just play the solos within the chord changes, by using what you feel at the time. Use some trills, making use of the root notes behind the chords, as they advance forward and backwards in whatever pattern you want the melody to grow into. 😊

      @@mrelmoresmusiclab I really don't spend any time on the technical properties of the Guitar itself. The Les Paul that I frequently use comes with standard equipment from Gibson. Maybe it's the strap you are using. I only use pure leather, so once it's used for a while, it stays permanently stable. If that is what you are referring to. Ask Philip McKnight, he does all of the technical work. You know who he is. He lives here in Arizona near me. I don't even like changing my strings, I know how to do it of course, but I don't all the time. Lol

    Nice! I have a 1993 Gibson J-30 that I have had since new - my parents bought it for me for college graduation. I also have two rebuilt Harmony's - a 1971 1203 Sovereign and a ~1968 H-1260. I do believe deeply that older wood on acoustics makes a difference. I am not much of a believer in woods on (solid body) electrics. On solid body electrics, I believe pickups, the amp and the players technique make the most difference. Even if the Guild needs a neck set, or new frets, it will be worth it. I am also a believer that acoustics need occasional visits to a good tech/luthier. BTW - I live in Taylors, SC.

      @@mrelmoresmusiclab As an addition to this and not to accidentally start an argument about wood on solid body electrics on your channel (ha!), I should have said that I don't think "old" wood makes a much of a difference on solid body electrics. The quality of the wood and parts can make a difference - I bet we have all played dead solid bodies that just for some reason don't have "it" - even when unplugged - old wood or new wood wouldn't matter. But I still think it is mostly the pickups, playing style and the amp used with solid bodies.

    • @mrelmoresmusiclab
      @mrelmoresmusiclab День назад

      Yeah, I totally agree with that too. I don't think it makes much of a difference on solid body electrics either. The oldest one I own is a 96 MIA strat that sounds great. I think electrics all resonate according to how the are all put together and the pickups, bridge, saddle and block are what really makes them what they are. Acoustics are just their own thing and the wood definitely seems to make a difference and they do seem to sound better over time. I know how hardcore some people get about tonewoods and I think everything is great and up for discussion. Heck, we love chatting about gear as much as playing. It's what we do. ha. Have a great night.

      If you go the other way for sure. Makes sense to me. I think the best thing you can do to apply everything is use the major scale as a blueprint for everything and then go from there. Like how to make a minor seven chord...just take the 1 b3 5 b7. Learn all of your modes and chord extensions from there. The Chord Wheel is really a great way to makes sense of the musical families and keys. It's so hard for new players because there is a crazy amount of information to break down. I guess we all have to use it in a way that works for us. Thanks for the reply and keep going.

This past Friday, visiting a small town with my wife and friends, ran into a small wine shop where they had some guys on acoustic. My wife and friends kept telling me I needed to play with them. They had an extra guitar and invited me to play. 2 hours later - we all had a great time! These types of lessons are helping me slowly break out of ruts and making old songs new again. I’m really loving the demo part where you play over a loop. I think it shows us how the theory can be applied and it sounds cool as hell!

      Thanks my friend. Funny you should mention that. My mom told me to start playing more. haha. I guess she was right. Keep going.

      @@mrelmoresmusiclabshe’s absolutely right! My one dumb question is how do we change what key it is in? Is it moving the shape so the root is the right note we want to hit? Thanks! And of course jellyfish as always!

      Great question. Just learn the charts exactly like I showed you those shapes. Move them wherever you want and focus on the root just like you said. That's kind of why I kept telling you to focus on the root positions so you know the key. Take your time and just connect the dots slowly. You will get it. :)

      Thanks so much. Yes, one of my favorite movies of all time and I have always been pretty obsessed with sea life. Sharks especially. The MCarty SE is so good I ordered the DGT SE which comes tomorrow. I bet that flame blue single cut looks amazing. Stay tuned and I will drop some thoughts on the DGT. Keep going!
