Really nice reminder that we can break the big chords down and still make beautiful music. A nice light bulb moment. I really appreciate you taking the time to share with us your insights.

Thanks for watching in the reply. For sure, sometimes when we just keep it simple it sounds the best. Keep going.

I started teaching my daughter and decided to start showing her triads. It is way easier for her small hands and it is so much less intimidating. She is advancing much faster than I see others and she seems to be more enthusiastic about practicing.

That' so awesome to hear. Yeah, there's all kinds of ways to break things down musically and make it fun. Guitar is such a hard instrument, but once it starts clicking it just becomes so much fun. Great job showing her triads. Keep going to the both of you. :)

Hi, I just discovered your site, I think I'm at the point (past the beginner lessons) where I can appreciate your videos. I've recently discovered triads and am going to spend some time on your triads series. I play with a woman who sings and is a beginning guitar player, looking to complement her playing basic open chords with triads up the neck. Thank you for your efforts!

Thanks so much and lots more to come. Sounds like you have a really solid foundation to build off of. There is just so much to learn in music, but little here and there and you will be flying. Sounds like you guys will be great as practice partners. Keep going. :)

Great video man ! I am teaching myself guitar and I really love the way you teach connecting the dots. I can play some chords and the major scale and minor pentatonic but had a hard time understanding how everything fits together. You are showing this step by step which is really awesome. Thanks again and greets from the Netherlands :)

Excellent lesson Harry. When practicing, I take a chord progression and practice finding the chords in different places on the neck using the various triad shapes. You'd be surprised how quickly you can see them all over the neck. I'm a pro at C-F-G progression! : - ) And I can see the scales all around the chords, so much so that I often don't play scales, per se, but play the notes around the various triad shapes when that chord is being played. Then when it's time to transition to the next chord, you play the notes around that one, be it the arpeggio/scale tone/chord tone. Sounds simple but it takes time. But once you see this, you can't unsee it. Now, to make this sound musical is another story! lol Thanks buddy.

Wow, you are on it dude. Yep, that is exactly what you want to do and it makes playing so much fun. Keep going and thanks for watching.

All these triads can also be applied in open g ,as well as standard. This is great to me as I have moved to Delta blues resonator guitar.

Thanks so much and that is such a great question. I will definitely do a video on this. See if you can weave the A minor pentatonics and C major scales over it. From there I would branch into some of the modes. Just connect a little bit at a time. :) I will see what I can whip up for you this week. And on a side note, you could also solo within those triads too. Have a great night.

Really nice lesson. As you shared I believe we some times get to complicated that we don’t see the simple way (light bulb moment)to make our music beautiful . Very nice reminder. Thank you.
