    Hi Kat. I loved watching your WIPs! They are all so beautiful! I cannot wait to see your fox when it’s finished. I will be purchasing that one as soon as it is available. I am also stitching the Deadly Aquarium and am loving it. If I had to pick a favorite of your WIPs, I think it would be the Chromatic Dragon. I thought about purchasing that pattern a while ago but it was waaayyyy too much for me so I am totally enjoying seeing your progress on it. That’s for another great FlossTube!

    Hi Cat, i want to ask what is your method to stitch full coverage? I want to start my first full coverage project, but i don't know with which method i should do this? Lovely greetings from Germany. Ute 😊

    • @catkinandlillie
      @catkinandlillie 7 часов назад

      Hi Ute! I am not sure my full coverage stitching follows any one particular method but I can say that I don't grid my fabric, and I don't ever really park any threads. I pick a corner to start in (top left or bottom right for me) then work outwards from that corner, aiming to stitch fairly continuously so I pick whatever colour is next to the bit I've just stitched. I prefer not to leave gaps but that isn't really possible for full coverage. I don't do cross country so I never take my thread all that far from where the main body of my stitching is. I certainly don't do colour completion! I hope to make a stitch with me video some time so I can show all this properly!

      Hello and welcome! So fab to have you here and that you are enjoying my projects 😄 I do seem to have quite a few larger projects right now...some smaller ones might be a good plan as that's a great motivator for finishes! I am not bothered by longer running projects as long as I have some smaller ones for that finish feeling along the way! I also really love the process of stitching as my chill out and de-stress time so I don't have to be quite so fanatical about finishing.

    Hello Cat and stitchers. Good idea to use the photos. I got talked into doing "Stitch the Summer Olympics" so I dug out my old UFOs and figured out what do for each day's prompt. I've got little stuff that I've started alongside quilting - ornaments and such. And older bigger UFOs like Winter Queen...from 2002..... Yikes! I've done 2 rough FlossTube videos just so that everyone can see what I have already before I start talking about prompts and my viewers go "Wait, what?" Sorry your weekend away was soggy! Thank you 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed the photos! I have been trying to avoid the Summer Olympic stitching because I feel I have rather over-committed already 😂 It sounds like a lot of fun though so I hope you enjoy it😄

      @catkinandlillie 5 дней назад

      Thanks Andrew 😊 Sorceress is progressing really well and I'm loving every stitch 😄 That was my worry with the new format that it would feel somehow less 'personal' and there's something more tangible about seeing the actual stitching, but I think I'll give it a go for at least 1 or 2 more episodes before I decide.

    I've used two strands with 14 count years ago, but now i see a lot of white showing through, especially with DMC black. Im thinking about stitching on 16 count now.

      It sounds like it's definitely worth trying 16 count and seeing how you like it. I prefer that to using 3 strands on 14 count which would be the other way to get more coverage😄

    I'm one of those people whose hands "eat" needles - they tarnish so fast! Between that and the fact that I have a thread holder that holds thread on needles (so I have as many needles as a project has colours on the go at the same time)... I buy my needles by the box.

    • @catkinandlillie
      @catkinandlillie 8 дней назад

      Ugh, that must be super frustrating 😬 I can see why buying by the box is a good idea!

    I must confess, I've only ever changed a needle when I've lost or broken one! When I use a kit, I save the needle 'just in case' You've made me think now..... the one I'm currently using DOES feel rough going through the fabric and I am noticing wear on my thread. ......... off to find a new one!!!!

    • @catkinandlillie
      @catkinandlillie 8 дней назад

      Oooh, interesting that you noticed it after using Kreinik thread since that was one thought I had that it might cause quicker wear and tear on the needle...so maybe that really is the case?!

    • @catkinandlillie
      @catkinandlillie 8 дней назад

      Yup, a lot of stitchers don't give needles much thought so I love being able to give you something to think about! I hope the new needle is an improvement for you and do let me know!

    • @sunnykat2762
      @sunnykat2762 8 дней назад

      @@catkinandlillie it maybe that I just noticed it at that time. I did change to using a 22/24 needle on Kreinik. That seem to help that thread to hold up longer with less fraying but it could be just me. All I know after using it in a 26 my Kreinik seem to give me a bit of a problem but with a larger needle it seems to glide easier through the fabric to where I don’t need any lubricant on it. But I have noticed it seems like the needles I used the kreinik in seem to make my floss get rough looking. All I can say that this would be a great needle test for you. I use Bohin needles.

  • @solarwinds-

    I didn't know needles ever needed changing, hmmm, maybe I should look at mine. In fact, I didn't even know that some needles are better than others. I used to use Sewology needles, shreds your thread, rough tips, YIKES! They snags your fabric. Yuck. I use Bowen now. MUCH BETTER.

    • @catkinandlillie
      @catkinandlillie 10 дней назад

      Oh yes, some needles are definitely better than others! Although quite a lot of what is 'better' is simply personal preference. As regards changing your needle, maybe try switching to a new one and just see if it feels better or not or if it makes a difference to your stitching 😄

  • @livclarke6463
    @livclarke6463 11 дней назад

    I use mine until the coating is mostly done and the needle makes a noise when it goes through the fabric. with my current one the coating is somewhat gone but it doesn't make any annoying noise when it goes through the fabric so I'm still using it. (mine are cheap ones bought on AlieExpress or Shein, but they get the job done pretty well. although they're sharper than the recommended tapestry needles and I end up stabbing myself by accident a lot...)
