    Congrats on 8000 subscribers! You are the first (though far from the last) flosstuber I ever subscribed to, and I’ve loved hearing about everything you make! The faces on Winter’s Gift look great with the backstitch, I love that fox so much. Good to have the warning for the arctic animals glow in the dark thread fraying, I have not made it that far. Stormy skies is such a pretty fabric, can’t wait to see what you make on that! And glad you enjoyed the jingle ball! I also didn’t spend enough time on it, final papers and all.

    Apparently I'd skipped over this video whilst catching up. Whoops. Ironically I was working on my Alice quaker whilst watching. How exciting to be doing your first quaker! I love those amethyst colours, but tbh I'm biased because amethyst and rose quartz are my favourite gemstones lol. Now I'm trying to remember if I've used any of my ctg threads before. I think I used one on the heart quaker and then had to rip it all out because I stitched landscape instead of portrait and ran out of room on my fabric. Need to get back to restarting that one. Maybe your mother in law can finish the quaker into a pillow for you? Or I'm planning on doing my seasonal quakers on the same fabric and putting them in one of those split window frames. Maybe the piece will tell you what it wants when it's finished. :)

    • @catkinandlillie
      @catkinandlillie 2 дня назад

      I do love reading your comments! I am excited to do my first quaker too...although I really don't need any more cross stitch obsessions 😂 Stitching the wrong way round on the fabric must ahve been sooooo frustrating, but I hope you'll enjoy it when you get to retsrating it. The CG threads are lovely...I'm building quite the stash so definietly need to look for more opportunities to use them! I agree that sometimes the piece speaks to you when the stitching is done and suddenly there is inspiration for the FFO 😄

    Thanks very much! What a disgrace that in this modern day where we have been to the moon............women are forced to pull out one thread at a time!! What a shame, so much waste and what a mess and expense! In a very raw beginner & wondering why you appear to put your needle in between the two threads when doing the second stitch of the cross. I’ve just started my first cross stitch (on aida) & wondering if I’m doing it incorrectly. Many thanks.

    • @patclarke9838
      @patclarke9838 5 дней назад

      This technique is called railroading. The needle is passed between the two threads before being inserted into the hole when doing the second half of the stitch. Some stitchers say that it makes a neater stitch. I don’t do this myself so I can’t comment. However, the important thing is that you’re not doing anything wrong if you don’t do it. Just enjoy your stitching. I’ve been stitching for 40 years and I’m still learning new things!

    Thanks for the tips! Something else I would do would be to add a label with which projects are in the tubes, especially if you have several 😊

    Now I'm wandering what surprise your april flosstube will have. :D Lovely to see your wonderful projects - and especially Winter's Gift. So exciting! Congrats on your finish :) And I agree: the sheep is super cute (though I think I'm biased considering where I live). It's summer in Australia so I'll enjoy the winter vibes from flosstube. I'm somewhere through the puffins on the Arctic Animal sal so I am very far behind... but my double vision has finally settled enough to get into my smaller counts again (which I'm super excited about!) so that'll have to wait. Or maybe I'll take it to work hmm. Did you get to the rainbow gallery thread yet? Merry Christmas if I don't watch another flosstube from you before then!

      That's so great that your vision has improved so you can get back to more of the projects you love! I just completed part 7 of Arctic Animals and part 8 was released yesterday...so exciting! So yes, I have got into the Rainbow Gallery thread and finished all the stars with it. It wasn't too bad to work with other than fraying horrendously. It's not glowing in the dark much at the moment...I need to expose it to some more light first I think! Still a bit more to go on the Christmas advent stitch before I get to that cute sheep! Merry Christmas to you too!

    I love the Tiny Towns too, have 5 to do to start after Christmas WIPs are finished. So the 4 seasons and the Christmas one. In the southern hemisphere so will start with summer up the top and doing them on one piece of fabric. Am looking forward to seeing your progress. 😁🪡

      I can very much see myself getting sucked into doing all the Tiny Towns! Your idea of stitching the 4 seasonal ones and Christmas on a single piece of fabric sounds lovely 😄

    Hi, so:I bought a 40. Ount design and I’m wondering to make it so I can see it, if I used 20 count is that the same size ,thanks so much

    • @catkinandlillie
      @catkinandlillie 9 дней назад

      Yes, if you stitch over 2 threads of 40 count linen then the finished design would end up the same size as stitching over 1 thread of 20 count linen (or 1 block of 20 count Aida). If I've lost you with stitching 'X over Y' then this video covers all of that ruclips.net/video/bZ6_VitFUS0/видео.html

    Do you know (of course you don’t but I’m gonna tell you anyway!), I’m not to keen on words but I love the lemons! It turned out soooo good!Your stitching as usual is sublime! I decided to be brave & start the Blizzard but I’m not going to show it I just got back to cross stitching just over a year ago M y niece got a kit for Xmas & came to me for help She lost interest & I finished it After it was finished I felt lost so I bought one for myself I just did stamped ones & did some small counted ones This SAL is the first big one(& I know it’s not big!) but I’ve found out I can’t count! I started where you did I’m only using colours in my stash to see how I get on So far so good The pattern seems easy enough but I’ve not got to the trees yet! Once I see how I do I’ll buy the colours Love all the designs in this book! I want to do the bear & the owl Fingers crossed I don’t make to many mistakes & get frustrated!

      I love that we all have different tastes in designs, and that even when something isn't normally up your street, there can still be one example of that thing that you do really like. LIke you with word based designs...and me with quakers! It's fabulous that you've enjoyed getting back into cross stitch and are stitching Blizzard Valley 😄 One thing I can say is that we all struggle with counting sometimes, no matter how long we've been stitching! Be kind to yourself and don't panic if you make mistakes...just decide if you want to fix it or leave it, then do that and move on. To get 'good' at something you have to go through not being so good at it first! Enjoy the journey, be proud of what you did, keep learning and practicing and I bet you'll soon have piecs you want to share with the world! 🩷
