⭕️curious... why not make it on a hardy hole fitting... at least then you could have walked all the way around the anvil and not had to lose heat to rotate the jig...?

I think about men who made peg legs day end and day out. Companys made and sold them to the public. A company shop might have 12 to 15 stations. Forge. Anvils.tools and power hammers. 12 hour days. 5 and 6 days a week. They made carrage parts. Wagon parts. Buggy parts. People now think life is hard? My granddad worked 12 hours a dad. He owned a sawmill. Dusk to dawn.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

That's the problem. Moving metal has too much inertia. A rubber slingshot tube has a much better stored energy/inertia ratio. And compressed air or any gas is of course the best.

Old time blacksmiths would always have the anvil set on a wooden stump It gives a really solid dead strike , that steel stand is wasting your energy as the anvil isn't nearly firm enough.

The idea is wery good however in my opinion you need to make the whole bolt lighter beacuse a lot of energy is wasted when it is acceletrated. Also the velocity is not going to improve if you add more springs because in this case the limiting factor is the speed at which the springs contract. You could still output more energy by using more springs if you make the weight of the projectile the limiting factor instead. Tldr lighter bolt mechanism, more springs and heavier projectile should result in more "muzzle" energy.
