Hey I’m probably 2 years late but never knew there were tools and didn’t know all this stuff, thank you for showing me!😊
@@Ilovecats-76 thank you for watching!!!
Great, thanks.
Shouldn't there be a sleeve on the pipes coming through the wall?(as they will have some movement) I am also curious, when two different elements connect, e.g. bath tub and the wall, the water proofing can break(due to same reason). Don't you need different waterproofing materials and bands? I mean, at least to make the result long lasting.
How do you do waterproofing before tiling?
There are tons of options and this isn't your only option, but probably your most cost effective. I only have a video for a shower but you can use some of the same principles: ruclips.net/video/HACfvhmNpgo/видео.htmlsi=8E_Gh4quz0VmXFas
You instctions are awesome!

bought one of these second hand and assumed it came with wrenches, found em right where you show in the video. Thank you for posting this video!
I'm glad they were still there!!!
Great video. Thank you for sharing
Thanks!
Hole saw tip: I own both Milwaukee and Lenox hole saws. If you drill a hole too small, the Lenox hole saw pilot bit has extra threads on it. Use the Lenox hole saw in the bigger size and there is enough room on the pilot bit that you can thread the smaller hole saw into the bigger hole saw. Therefore the old hole saw becomes your pilot bit for your new larger hole saw. It looks a bit sketchy to have two hole saws threaded onto the pilot bit, but it works great.
I've not seen this but now I'm curious. I'll have to check it out!
I'm trying to send you a link to another RUclips video to share this with you, but it won't let me. Maybe I should just film this on my channel and share it. Anyway, keep up the good work. I always enjoy your videos.
The biggest problem I run into is that my clients purchase fans that need a smart switch (included with the fan), but it requires a dedicated neutral. Most clients don't want to pay for a new power feed wire on a dedicated circuit. The other problem I run into is the fan only has one wire coming out of it, so the fan and light come on at the same time no matter how you wire it. Do you have any tips on purchasing a fan so it has two wires coming out if it (one for the fan and one light)? Also, old school analog (no smart switch) fans work better in old houses that don't have a dedicated power feed. The average age of the houses I work on are 80 - 110 years old. I noticed that if I read the box, it promises the functionality I want, but when I get it to the clients house, half the time it does not have two separate wires for the fan and the light. Any tips you have on selecting/purchasing a fan would be much appreciated. Keep up the good work and as always, thank you for sharing.
I may not be much help there because once I find something that works, I tend to install the same thing everywhere. I am mostly working on my own investment properties, so I have that benefit. You don't really have that opportunity if you are doing clients services where they will want to pick their finishes (and they are probably different every time). I would just open the box and check. I guess I've been lucky and not ran into that. I would just open up that junction section and make sure the product has two separate hot wires.
@@YouCanDIYHome How do I transition from client based work to investment properties? I am mentally wired just like you. When I find something that is a practical solution, I like to use it everywhere. On a side note, I have a friend that is getting into section 8 investment properties. I was explaining to him the importance of doing everything the same with all his properties. Basically, I explained to him everything that you recommend.
@@michaelmeans9187 Investing in your first property is always the hardest. I worked three jobs for years and saved every extra dollar I could. I also sold stuff on eBay (not sure if that is very useful anymore). One of the best options if possible is house hacking- have you every heard of the BRRRR strategy? because you can buy as an owner occupant, fix it up, move out, then do it again. If you buy as an owner occupant, you have a lower down payment. Your other option is to save up to by a duplex, triplex, or 4plex, and live in one unit and rent the others. save all the profits until you have enough to invest in the next one.
Good Job!
Thank you!!

My fridge has a vent on the back like that one. I was looking to clean the coils because my fridge was making a clunking noise, but there is no front coil access panel. I pulled it away from the wall to look behind and the cardboard vent wasn't dirty, but I took it off and cleaned it. Then I saw all the dust and crud like you did and cleaning that up fixed the noise. Now I know how to do the regular maintenance. Interesting that not refrigerators have front access to clean the coils. I don't remember seeing the vent in the back before. Great video, Emily! I already knew, but not everyone will.
Im glad you were able to get rid of the noise! Thanks for watching!

When do you take out the 2x4 and how does that look after?
Once the cabinet is secured, remove the 2X4. You just have the little screw holes to fill, prime, and paint were it was screwed in.
Yo go Girl
Thanks!
fun little documentation but i'm sorry it genuinely looks disastrous... best leave these high end render finishes to seasoned experts because fixing blunders like this is not cheap or easy to do, not to mention all your time effort and money gone for an amateur finish
I think you may be misunderstanding the different types of microcement and various options. There are smooth finish options if that's what you are looking for. This is not intended to look smooth. It's meant to be more of a rustic finish.
The reason that the switches were arranged the way they were (inside light switch closest to the door) is because the convention used by electricians is such that when someone walks in the door, the closest switch to the door will illuminate the room’s light.
That makes sense. It just feels wrong to me trying to figure out what light goes where but totally understandable.
@ Yep, I used to think that way, too. Then, I remodeled a section of my house and the electrician explained the convention since I was asking for the switches to be as you were doing them. I completely think the other way now. When I walk into a room or into the house, my brain immediately goes to the switch closes to the entry. And, the same for my bathroom. The switch closest to the door is for the main light. The one farther away is for the shower. But, geographically, the switches are “backwards”. I no longer think that way anymore. The electrician opened my eyes to a more human factors way of thinking about it.
Wow that was a lot of dust bunnies, keep those videos coming. Thanks
I was thinking exactly what you said about warranties, then you said it right after. Warranty ? Yea sure !! Good video 👍

Pro tip: plug the sink and close the toilet lid in case anything falls down
@@ZeroColdx911 👏👏👏👏
Me as a plumber, I would never install that dumpster in line of the kitchen drain, you on the other hand, you are welcome to have me install and service or replace.
I second this. Just throw your food and stuff into the garbage. This breeds bad habits that only make issues down the road for both your sink.. and the sewer lines downstream.
Hey Emily, this video is seriously well-made! Your dedication to producing quality content really shines through. I actually work with RUclipsrs to help their channels grow even quicker, so if you’re ever interested in some tips, I’d be happy to chat. Keep it up!
I have no direct experience with either but the only advantage I can see with the 'press' system is cost of those copper rings. If you are a new construction builder and doing a LOT of this then perhaps that cost is your biggest factor. Still, I would have a hard time justifying bothering with it over just doing it all with pinch rings. So I imagine it's mostly the people with these press systems in their trucks already that are keeping it in business. IF they are already using these and the tools paid for they likely also have bought the pinch system too afterwards for all those cases when the press just isn't manageable or possible. Once you've invested in something you likely will continue to use it for a while. I think those systems will likely fade out though as either the tools wear out or the rings become too hard to find. Just as PEX is replacing copper to some extent so will the easier and more practical tools and such. I can't see buying a press tool like this today, seems obsolete.
I knew you'd know
Thanks, always wondered.
