I finally got to that shelf over the couch and back to the bedroom. It didn't go quite how I wanted it, but I am happy with the result.

    That exhaust pipe is way too close to wood between those two plates. You should've cut that wider or covered the tube with exhaust wrap. Also you will have to put plastic wrap under that fuel cap while you're going down the road or the fuel will splash out the vent hole all over the floor.

    • @genxers
      @genxers 3 месяца назад

      It was for sure. I reworked it in this video here... ruclips.net/video/3qT8B6Gstew/видео.html and created some extra space and lined it with aluminum foil tape to try and reflect some heat away from the wood. It worked really well and we have had no problems with it at all. As for fuel spilling out of the cap, it hasn't happened yet but I like your idea. I may need to do that as a precaution. We take some pretty sketchy roads on occasion.

      When I got divorced a handful of years ago, I purged a great deal from my life. Believe it or not, I'm a minimalist. The problem is that all that junk, well most of it, is needed for the bus and other projects we have on the go or coming up. I could quite easily get rid of 90% of it and be happy but a few of my hobbies are tied up in that mess right now. LOL. The bus build and camping are the biggest part of that mess in the garage. It's a work in progress. Most of it will be cleared out in the next few weeks....I hope. :)

      We have a diesel heater that puts out some really good heat and good insulation so we should be alright in the cold. But, we are not taking it out in the really cold weather for a trip until we get an engine heater. Diesels don't like the cold and trying to warm it up with the block heater would take a bigger generator than we have. But, we will get one in there eventually.

    Not fair. I want a shout out. Pretty neat when you get a shout from a local celebrity. I was volunteering this weekend with my sister at the Mustard Seed. Thanksgiving is about helping others that are less fortunate. That's how we look at it. We do what we can to pay it forward. Didn't see any busses that looked like yours this time though.

      A noble thing to do. Was there a bus like ours there before?

    I still have been thinking about the sailbus idea. I think you should give that a second chance.

      LOL. That one was hilarious.

    Hi friend and thanks for the shoutout! I really like the channel. The last few videos were a little bit dry though. Not your fault just the subject matter. Have you ever considered using a propane fireplace for heat? They are so nice and a great ambiance. Leaves are starting to change here in Vancouver. Winter is on it's way. Keep up the content this winter- NO EXCUSES

      We thought about propane but I hated it in all the RVs I've had over the years. I found that when it got really cold they didn't work as well. The diesel heater in our camper works great. Leaves are changing here as well. With the bus at our house, we should be able to continue to work on it through the winter. Just turn up the heat and go!

    I've seen several people get around the accidentally-running-out-of-fuel by leaving the heater's pickup tube in the main tank several inches above the bottom so it can't run you dry. But in my rig I'm doing the same as you, adding a seperate dedicated fuel tank for the heaters. Added benefit to yours and my method is you can use dyed/off-road diesel for the heaters and save a few bucks on the fuel tax.

      Using dyed would be a great idea. I might have to do that. I have access to purchase dyed for work. I could pick some up for myself as well. Most of the installs I have see that tie into the bus tank are putting a T in the main line. Putting a completely separate line would definitely solve that.

      That looks like a lot of hassle for having a separate tank. I definitely wouldn’t want to be fooling around with that out in the cold.

      I've seen a couple videos where people did that. I always wondered how they avoided pulling fuel back from the engine and losing their prime. Most of the videos I've seen they just drop a new pickup tube direct into the main fuel tank which usually involves drilling the tank or drilling a knock-out plug. A lot of the truck stops I go to for diesel has reefer (dyed) fuel available right at the pump, so after you buy clear diesel for the engine tank you hit "next" on the pump and then fill the aux/heater tank. Super convenient. I have a small siphon pump I keep in my toolkit in case I ever need to re-prime the fuel filter canister when changing out a filter so in a pinch can always steal some clear diesel from the main tank for my heaters on a cold night.

      @@robertjude8261There is a ton of room under the bus and it fills quickly. But, it is only a temporary setup until I get the underbody storage box and the actual fuel tank I want to use. A marine fuel tank with a quick connect.
