- Finally, the bus is running after a long summer of tracing and chasing problems.
The IPR valve was shot. That's the injection pressure regulator. Without that, the injectors would not fire. So, no matter how much fuel the new pump was pushing up, it was not being injected into the cylinders.
Now, with the new IPR and the new fuel pump, things are running smoothly. The engine is running much better now due to the new pump pushing plenty of fuel up to the injectors. The old mechanical pump was barely working. The engine was starving for fuel all the time and running rough.
We are so excited that it's running now and we have a renewed passion for getting work done on the interior. But, first, we need to take it camping!

It's running better than ever. With the old mechanical pump, it was barely getting enough fuel to run. This new electric one is pushing plenty of fuel to the injectors.
I'm going to have to research your biodiesel idea. I'm curious about it.
If you ever have to change it again, or anyone finding this video, they make a speciality socket for IPR valves you can buy online for fairly cheap. They're pre-notched to get around the electrical plug and you can use an extension on your socket wrench to get the right angle around the tight space. Sorry I didn't have this advice for you before you got that part replaced!!
We knew that existed but upon research we they tend to break.
