  • Again we break down! We just can't seem to catch a break. This time we have some transmission issues 370 ish kms from home. Not the best situation.
We did manage to get home in 6.5 hours. The transmission went into limp mode giving us reverse and 3rd gear. It was a long drive home and we were very disappointed. But at least we were able to drive it home.
I did a bunch of checks and research the day after we got home and discovered that the transmission control module (TCM) keeps popping its main fuse. So far, it looks like we need a new TCM.

    Sorry about your weekend plans.
It is never a good time when your plans get soured by bad luck.
I hope the bus is ok and that it can be fixed.
A new transmission would be expensive.
Maybe you can fix it yourself.

From my inspections and research, I'm 99% sure it's the transmission control module. I can pick up a new one for about $800 so not as bad as a transmission job for sure.

Hopefully no more issue🤞. That must be so frustrating when your weekend plans get ruined. Still hoping to see the 2 piece soon😊, she hasn’t been around much lately.

I haven't been on in so long, i just caught up on all your vids. Looks like you guys have your work cut out for you. Will you continue to work throughout the rest of the year? it must get pretty cold there, hopefully you have a warm area to work out of the cold.

It gets pretty cold up here yes. -30C is a normal cold winter day but usually warmer than that by a little bit. The plan is to work on the interior of the bus this winter. Providing we can get the bus warm enough to work in. As long as it's over freezing inside the bus we should be ok to work on it.

Is the bus warm in this cold weather?
Will it operate in the snow?

We have a diesel heater that puts out some really good heat and good insulation so we should be alright in the cold. But, we are not taking it out in the really cold weather for a trip until we get an engine heater. Diesels don't like the cold and trying to warm it up with the block heater would take a bigger generator than we have. But, we will get one in there eventually.

@ChristinaHicks-zh2ef When I am in limp mode I take Cialis. I tried Chinese medicine but my doctor said to try Cialis. It really works.

I think you may have bought a 🍋

It would seem that way except we have only had 2 issues thus far. The IPR valve which shut off the injectors and now the TCM. Both of which will take out a pickup as well. For as disappointing as it is, I think we still did good on the purchase. It's just a pain to deal with it in the summer when we really wanted to use the bloody thing.
