Kruger - No Place Like it
Добавлен 9 апр 2023
The Kruger National Park is a unique national wildlife park with a vast array of landscapes and a spectacular variety of African wildlife. For some of us, Kruger 'gets in your blood', the diversity of the bush, the smell of Africa in the morning, the sounds of the spectacular and multiple species of bird life and the peace and tranquility of an African sunset. Around every corner and behind every bush, amongst every rock formation and in every body of water, Africa hides a secret which she reveals to whomever she will and whenever she deems to allow you to share in its special wonder. With this channel we have tried to capture some of that elusive African splendor to share with you our love and fascination for the bush and its wildlife - to share with you, Kruger, for there is no place on earth like it!
Sirheni, the S 56, and an Unbelievable Pride of Thirty-seven Lions
Our many, many years of visiting the Kruger Park have left us with some profound memories, few more special than a pride of thirty-seven lions we found on the S 56 near Sirheni Bushveld Camp. The s 56 is one of the most scenic roads in the park, replete with huge, old, and beautiful indigenous trees; frequented by leopards, lions and buffalo, and providing chance encounters with three of the awesome exotic antelope, Eland, Roan Antelope, and Sable. Giraffe and elephant are of course also frequent visitors to this exceptional road. Starting at Babalala Picnic site, it winds along the banks of two rivers, the Mpongolo and the Shingwedzi and culminates on the H1 6 near Shingwedzi Rest Camp w...

The incredible Masorini Archeological Site

In this Bonus episode of Sixty Days Overlanding in Kruger, we visit the incredible Masorini Archeological Site. Partially reconstructed on a prominent koppie according to archeological and ethnographi...

Disaster at a leopard kill

The worst thing that can happen while at a unique sighting is to have a mechanical problem which immobilizes your vehicle. This happened to us on the road to Shingwedzi, while we were stopped watching a leopard kill. We had a crack in the sidewall of our right front tire which failed at that specific moment, leaving the front wheel resting on the rim. We were seven kilometers from Shingwedzi re...

This is one of my favourite RUclips channels -- you guys are doing a great job, while enjoying it! Keep up the good work. I loved to see these eland, roan and elephants. Boyela seems to be a very special place indeed. I've never seen elands this close or in the open in Kruger.
Thats is the Boyela Pride , Krugers Largest Pride and hardly anyone sees it as they all think the Big Prides in the South>. Cars Yes but no BIG Prides >> thats in the North !!S56 , Boyela , Babalala is where I see this big Pride >> I have only seen them though with 29 Lions >> This is Not a Duiker standing Still Its a KLIPSRINGER >> A Duiker doesnt even stand like that and they always beat a hasy retreat wheras a Klipspringer STANDS .. Look at the Fur its grizzly Klipspringer Hide >> a Duiker has smooth Hide. Wrong: When A Duiker senses Danger it Darts off Fast .. Hence its Name Duiker ( Diver)
We go in Sept for 3 Months only in the Real Kruger >> North of Phalaborwa Camping with the Last 7 Nights at Satara to see how Hollywood is doing these days Lol
Only a few weeks to go for me till my 5 week visit. Last time I was there (15 years ago) I can remember pulling up numerous times to a sighting or waterhole, camera in my lap with coffee and rusks, I couldn't think of anything else in this world I'd rather do...safe travels and enjoy the rest of your trip !!! ...Andy 🤠😎
WOW you got to immerse yourself in quite a bit of history there, interesting episode, can't wait to see more !! 🤠😎
I really enjoy the archeological sites. One more coming up later on in our adventures.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I'm watching from TÜRKİYE and can't get enough of your videos 🍀🍀🍀
Thank you for watching. Hope you are enjoying travelling through Kruger with us.
Eland are best found between Mopani and North of Shingwedzi >> Boyela is Best .. They are not exotic >> they are found there >> Addo has Cape Eland >> these are Livingstone's Eland
Thanks for the comment and clarification
Best things happen when you spend 3 months North of Phalaborwa and Take your time as I proved . We often go to Phalaborwa to restock groceries and make it a Game Drive from Tsendze or Shingwedzi or Balule .. Phalaborwa pack Roams a Huge area from the Gate to Balule , Giryono Gate to Moz and past Mopani. was the leopard near Tsendze as there are 7 female territories between Tsendze and Mopani camp 10 km s !!!
Yep, I agree! Thanks for the comment.
Another great episode guys, even a detour to get a tyre fixed is highly worthwhile, not far now till my Kruger trip, haven't seen Eland before, hoping they'll turn up when I'm around. Safe Travels !!!! 🤠😎
Thanks for the comment Andy
Mooi video, thanks for sharing your experiences with us,I just love the kruger
No place like South Africa 🇿🇦♥️♥️
Always look forward to your videos and sightings !!! Which camp did you have the braai at...it looked like a great spot near the river ! Safe travels and look forward to the next one !!! 🦒🐘🤠😎
Braai was at Sirheni - yes, truly a great spot for lunch. One of my favorite camps.
There are a lot of people like myself who might have visited Kruger many many years ago or some who would like to. You mention only the odd animal/bird name but wax lyrical about the bush come on folk and show and talk all abut the wild life you come across that is what we want to see and hear.
Thanks for the comment. Up until this point in the trip we had lost the charger for our video camera and so were very limited in what we could show. It does get better, and we share some incredible wildlife experiences in episodes to follow. The series is however focused on the roads and drives in Kruger - but I get your point. Thanks
I have binge watched your series up until now and i'm eagerly awaiting the next episode. Thank you so much for letting us go on the journey with you. Loving every minute of it. Feel like we are right there with you and i especially like the way you tell us which roads you are on and where they lead, and overall your knowledge and enthusiasm. Just a query: did I miss the episode where you did a walk through of your unit and the camp at Mopani? I saw the fish eagle restaurant only? I found the hippo behaviour at Shimuwini very interesting and especially loved the two giraffe on the road when you had a close encounter with them all by yourselves. My favourite animal. Gail i have to mention that the colours of your swimming costume are gorgeous and Stuart, all your meals looks 😮scrumptious.
Thank you Helen. Lots more to come - hope you enjoy each episode as much as we did making them.
Your wife is a lovely narrator 👍👍💕💖
Thank you. She is a wonderful wife as well!
Thank you for this lovely video all but for the disaster, im glad you had someone to help you. Always a great job, on your videos. What beautiful animals thru your journey. That buffalo was not happy and they can be very unpredictable. He acted like he wanted to charge? The leopard cubs were so cute. I hope mom can get them to adulthood. The cheetah was a treat too. Why did everything where the cheetah was looked burned? Idk if they do a controlled burning or not, but that is what it made me think of. Again thank you for sharing all the beauty Africa has to offer. I wish you both well on your journeys. May you both have many blessing along your way.
Thanks for the comment again. Flat tire was worse for the others at the sighting. We felt so bad spoiling it but the guy who helped us had to get his clients back. Always great to be in the bush!
@@noplacelikekruger oh I bet but it's not you intended for that to happen and that was out of your hands and im sure the others was kind and understood? Sometimes we need to be more patient and understanding with others. It's really the only way to have a relationship and build on that. We have to accept all things good and bad nothing is perfect. I always think you all do wonderful on your videos. I like the layout of it and you add music now and again then other times you have true nature and that is always and will always be a blessing. You just can't beat True nature. The way you do the video it's perfect. I always enjoy them. So for that I that you. It's always appreciated with respect.
Wildtuin is altyd lekker
Dis die waarheid! Altyd lekker om in die bos wees.
Wait, so you spoiled the sighting for everyone else? It's not like you were busy driving. Waiting there would not have been a problem until the leopards moved on. "I do not change tyres". As a woman I aspire to be useful to my husband. That attitude is derogatory towards him and "beneath you". The poor man.
We waited for hours but eventually we had to get something done and the kind operator who was going to help us had to get his clients back. We hated spoiling this sighting. The only consolation is that the leopards would have come back to their kill eventually.
Some disaster??? Merely an inconvenience. Such drama queens
Perhaps an inconvenience for us - but that was not the case for the other five cars and two operators who were there waiting to see what was going to unfold. The disaster was that we ruined an awesome sighting by getting out of our vehicle to get our tire inflated sufficiently to get us to Shingwedzi!
Rolled my eyes when I heard that!!
Always lovely to see a new episode, and I share your sentiments about being in the bush, a flat tyre just adds to the adventure !!! Safe travels and happy sightings !!! 🤠😎
Unfortunately, it ruined the sighting for everyone present as the leopard disappeared into the bush as soon as we got out of the vehicle. Thanks again for the comment.
What were your dates of travel for this trip? What would you change if you were to do it again?
We were there late September to November. The rains did begin early last year but I would suggest July - September as being the best time in Kruger. We are going to be there in July-August this year. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.
Engelhard Dam, beautiful location and great to see the African Fish Eagle eating the fish right in front of you, we should have known that 2 years ago when we had lunch in Letaba and from there drove to Olifants via the S94 and S93, very Shame.
Yes, this was definitely one of the best drives in the Letaba area. If you take the S93 to Olifants it is always good to start on the S46 and not the S94. Thanks for watching and we appreciate your comments.
@@noplacelikekruger Thank you for your advice.

Glad you are enjoying our videos - still plenty to come. Please subscribe and like our videos.
I think it is so true that one can never be bored, at least not long, in the bush there. I've thought before, upon seeing yet another herd of impala, "Oh it's just more impala." But then realize, how often do I get to see impala? Puts a different perspective!
You are right. So sad that these things can be taken for granted. Thanks for watching - plenty more to come.

Fantastic episode, the closeup of the four birds of prey in one shot was lovely. You never know what to expect !!!!
That's so true, you never know what is waiting around the next corner. These feeding birds were a great sighting. We spent, probably 50 minutes with them.
Like you guys, I have a passion for the bush, I feel at home with the sights, sounds and smells. Can't wait to be part of it in August !!!
Hope you have a great time in August. We should be there at the end of July, beginning of August as well.
The Elephants love to lay down in the damp cool earth and cool down plus to take some weight off their feet for a few minutes! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the comment, Please give us a thumbs up if you enjoyed the video.
They also take the mud baths for parasites too.
Stunning episode❤
Thank you. Hope you are enjoying touring through Kruger with us.
This was fun to watch.. Loved the Elephants.
Yep! As you can see from our videos, we love these beautiful creatures. Thanks for your faithful following of our channel.
Nothing I have seen in this video shows any strange behavior. It is very normal behaviour for elephants traversing down and up a steep hill to do this.
A possible explanation of the elephant "behaviour" ... I once saw a small herd of ellies eating lots of marula fruits that had dropped off the tree and lay fermenting in the sun. After some time, these ellies started behaving in much the same manner 😅 They were actually getting intoxicated (drunk) from the alcohol caused by fermenting marula fruits. Even the mature elephants were crawling about, stone drun,! Very comical! Perhaps the herd you saw had also feasted on some fermented fruits before you saw them.
Yes - it is really funny to see them stumbling around under the influence - these however were just having fun sliding down the embankment. One of them slid all the way down on its butt! I love watching their behavior. Thanks for following our journey through Kruger.
Another fantastic episode, that's what I love about the bush...the unexpected !!!
Always the unexpected that amazes you. Wait until you see some of the "unexpected" things I am still going to share in later episodes. Thank you for the comment.
How about miraculous!! Or heaven sent!!
Wow!! You are right, that was incredible. Those two ellies omg i was laughing at them because they were being silly but so so cute. I have saw them when there is a very steep incline bend their legs and scoot along like that but that one he looked plum exhausted the way she laid there and was throwing dirt on herself. Too cute. That was a gorgeous male lion. All of the video was great from start to finish nicely done. I could watch stuff like that all the time. I sure appreciate your work and you sharing it with us its greatly appreciated with respect. I hope all of your trips are full of blessings as this was. Kruger really has a lot of animals there. I think thats why i love kruger video's. The animals all look healthy as well. That says a lot about a place. I hope you all had as much fun doing this video as i had watching it thru your lens. Peace Love and Positive energy your way 🌹💖🌹
Thank you for the wonderful comment. That is just what we wanted to achieve with this series - take people along with us on a typical drive through the Kruger National Park.
@@noplacelikekruger I believe people when they tell me that visiting Africa they feel like they reset themselves. I mean with all that African action and seeing the lions, staring death in the face I bet it does feel that way. What a way to feel alive!! It would just be one real awakening from inside deep in your soul. Idk but I know I would love to visit but may never have the opportunity so I live vicariously thru your lens. You have some great videos as well and for that I thank you.
You are welcome - so glad you are travelling with us. Enjoy the rest which are still to come.

I always thought Dutch word for sandwich was strange. Also how Dutch use butter as condiment on sandwich is different as well. Like Ham with butter sandwiches.
