FIXING a DUCATI Panigale V2/V4 REAR END (MOTODYNAMIC Tail Tidy AND Integrated Tail Light)
This time we install a Motodynamic integrated tail light and tail tidy on a 2023 Ducati Panigale V4. This install would also apply to a Streetfighter V2/V4 and Panigale V2. I go into detail as to why the Motodynamic integrated tail light is the best option for the Panigale/Streetfighter series.

    Hey brother, thanks for this. I discovered all these smudges and stains this morning, weather was very cold, by midday with a bit of sun it cleared. I used a high pressure hose at a car wash last week and I fucking knew I shouldn't have blasted the dash. This caused all that inner crap 100%. So just a heads up to whoever reads this im going to use that anti fog spray that you use on helmet visors when I remove it so thanks for the demo. Btw have you tracked your V2? I’ve had my V2 out at Sonoma and Laguna Seca where I’ve passed V4 riders. My point being it’s the rider that is fast, not the bike. Heck I’ve passed a bunch of liter bikes on my Ninja 400 which is a lot of fun. Of course they blow past me in the straights but that’s cool too. 😬

    You can do an Austin racing exhaust system for this V4 with an brentune ecu stage 2 flash. Heard Austin now have a different version launched for both Street fighter and Panigale V4/V4S models 😊❤

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY 5 дней назад

      I’ve seen the new Austin set up and it looks awesome. I think I saw one sound clip on RUclips and it sounded pretty good. I think for the price though I’d just spend the extra coin to get an FM Project. Brentune makes good tunes but they are a pain to flash back and forth. I much prefer the way UpMap’s flash the bike although they typically don’t perform as well as the brentunes. Appreciate the suggestion!

    • @madhavram146
      @madhavram146 5 дней назад

      @@ridewithKY guess both has prps and cons, I prefer the Bren tune even though you have to adjust the tune according to bike mods,fuel etc once it done it's amazing 🤩 nothing like smooth rideability in low to mid range

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY 4 дня назад

      It’s not about the adjustments it’s flashing it back and forth to stock. Anytime Ducati has an update you have to flash it back to stock in order to not risk losing the tune. It’s easy with the UpMap, it’s a pain with the Brentune because Brentune uses Dimsport as the flash tool. Same as SLR and Deussen. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea to get a Brentune. Their tunes definitely perform. My V2 actually has a Brentune. It just depends on what’s most important to the user.

      @ridewithKY I almost bought a v4s about a year ago at bev hills ducati. Had cash in hand but they're like 40 grand when they had a 21 rsv4 factory with 300 miles on it for 19k. I threw the SC Project gp22 slip-on on it and the noise it made was unlike anything I've ever experienced. F*cking awesome bike, as is the Duc. No more sportbikes for me currently tho, got a HD road glide now (and a superduke and an old 75 honda cb400)... keeping myself out of trouble bc I don't have the self control needed to ride these bikes on the street 🤣 been thinking about buying one of those new buell hammerheads tho, they look sick

    • @Stripping_Bolts
      @Stripping_Bolts 7 дней назад

      @ridewithKY also, idk about Ducati but getting oem parts for the Aprilia was impossible. Dealership couldn't even order me fairings after a car hit my bike and knocked it over

    • @ridewithKY

      RSV4 and GP22 combo is pretty unbeatable. I’m running the same set up. Loud as hell but it sounds and looks the best for these bikes. A lot of the other exhaust options for RSV’s are just a universal can hanging off the side of the rearset. Ducati parts are definitely easier to get than Aprilia. I’ve had to order a few factory parts here and there and it takes forever.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY 8 дней назад

      That’s not shrink tube, that’s silicone. Surprisingly enough that’s also not how shorts work. You can completely submerge a connection like that and not short anything. If you completely submerge both poles at one time in the same body of water, that would give you a short. Shrink tube on an area like that would be more for corrosion protection than anything else. Appreciate the concern however.

    svartpilen 401, 12kmiles, California. TL;DR: impossible to self-maintain as some required service steps (every 4650miles) can only be done with a dealer-only SW. True about the top speed: my wife and I call this bike "the moped" (we are from europe :D ), especially when compared to my prior ER6n and FZ09. The 401 quality is not that good compared to my other bikes. Lost the whole plate holder within 30 days (I have seen videos of other people afflicted by it). Husqvarna/dealer don't seem to use thread-lock... My understanding is that the plate-holder is a US/CA legal requirement, and is added by the dealer, same goes for the type of turn signals used. This bike is almost impossible to maintain by an average Joe because the regular maintenance of the shifter requires the dealer-only diagnostic tool (even if you got the HW, the SW is only for registered dealers as Husqvarna uses the same SW for presale-theft reduction). Adjusting the "next service mileage" is also impossible without the dealer-only computer. The instrument computer firmware is bad: too often it doesn't show the current mpg, and it always fails to compute the mpg for the trip as it seems to only ever compute instantaneous mpg. Fuel efficiency over 1 year / 12000 miles: 57.4mpg hwy mainly and rarely above 65mph. It is still a great fun bike when riding solo. Not great for 2-up (my wife complains on our 4H+ rides compared to the ER6n/FZ09).

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY 9 дней назад

      Some good points here but it’s definitely not impossible to self maintain these bikes. Even in the warranty paperwork it says: Service work properly done by the owner will not void the warranty. The shift sensor service is just a calibration update from KTM, if there even is one. I can’t speak for all dealers but my dealer said they would perform just the calibration update if I wanted to, assuming there was an update available. In my case there was no update available, therefore, the dealer recommended I not worry about it. Similar story goes for the diagnostic reading. This is a service my local KTM dealer offers on its own, but again, they indicated it wasn’t really necessary. Back in 2022, I was quoted around $280 for the first service. I elected to do it myself. All that being said, the bulk of the maintenance items can easily be done at home with normal tools. Like anything on a mechanical device, just because it’s easy, doesn’t mean you can’t mess it up. However, a basic tool set and basic mechanical knowledge can get you by with these bikes. They are very simple. With the interval at 4650, you probably want to change the oil more frequently anyways. These bikes are almost at redline everywhere you go. Pretty long interval when the engine is maxed out all the time. If an owner is really worried about the QS cal and the diagnostic service, they can just have this done aside from the maintenance done at home. Cheers man.

    • @GloobyBoolga
      @GloobyBoolga 8 дней назад

      @@ridewithKY "my local KTM dealer" : Excellent idea! I always forget that I don't need to go the original Husqy dealer and that any KTM serivce place can handle it. I'll defenitively start shoping around. "$280 for the first service." Nice! In 2023, 1st service 620 mls paied $420, 930mls paid $854 (CA, SanJose/SF) ... and I still ended up having to lift the tank myself as the fuel overflow hose was blocked because of a fold, which allowed water pooled under the filler cap to get in the tank after the 1st rain :( . " is just a calibration update from KTM": The Repair Manual 2023 (3403203en). ch20.2 p278; ch20.4 suggests that it is not just an "update" (like for the ECU). It has to "clear adaptation values", resets what it thinks is neutral, and re-calibrates the quickshifter. People who have watched a tech do it say it required the computer to monitor the sensor while the bike is running and gears are shifted . When I told my dealer about the neutral being a hit and miss, they said they "tried" to calibrate it but couldn't fix the reproducible issue... Time for me to checkout a different service place :) "Service work properly done by the owner will not void the warranty." : Things might have changed over time. Owner's manual 2023 (3402694en) ch 3.1 p10. "The work prescribed in the service schedule must only be carried out in an authroized [...] workshop and confirmed in the Husqvarna Motrocycles Dealer.net, as otherwise all warranty claims will be void.". Soon I won't have to care :D and can do stuff myself.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY 8 дней назад

      @GloobyBoolga per the KTM dealer it is a calibration update and it’s not exclusive to the 390 series… there is no adjustment on the quickshifters for these bikes anyhow. That’s why the dealer you visited couldn’t do anything about your QS being out of whack despite calibrating properly and despite the issue being able to be reproduced. It’s also illegal to void a warranty if the item isn’t serviced at a factory dealer. It’s the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act. Of course in other countries this may be different, but in the USA there are consumer protection laws that protect against the scenario you cited in the manual. This is why you see even the high end motorcycle brands such as Ducati, MV Agusta, BMW warranting catastrophic failures even if the owner did not have the bike serviced at an authorized dealer. The owner has to submit proof the bike was maintained properly, but it cannot be arbitrarily voided for not using certain service centers.

    Haha. Great video - thanks for pointing out all the things to keep an eye on here. Appreciate the experience and effort to share with us. I just picked up my first bike - a new to me 2023 Svartpilen with 114 miles on it. Right out of the gate, had overheating issues. The bike temp would max out after about 15 minutes of riding. Spent a few hours “fixing” the coolant system & dealing with the thermostat. Ended up deleting the thermostat, and now it is working/running fine. PITA on a new bike, but kinda cool that I could fix it on my own without going to the dealer 2 hrs away.

      Awesome man. Glad the video proved helpful to you. Enjoy that Svartpilen, they are great bikes although of course they have their flaws. Glad you were able to fix the coolant system on your own. Part of the beauty of these bikes is the simplicity. It’s very easy to work on these bikes with limited knowledge of mechanics and limited tools. Cheers man, ride safe.

      @@ridewithKY For sure - of all the things that could go wrong, a little thermostat delete definitely leans toward the “I can fix it myself” side of the scale.

    Great points all around. I came from an r1 and I love this bike more. With full mods and a tune I'm neck and neck with my buddy's gsx s1000 and that bike should have 20 more hp. I love the looks and out the box it's set up really firm which gives me confidence yet the suspension is still good on bumps. Like you, I've changed handlebars to near clip on height and I really am able to ride longer with less weight on the seat alone. 1 year 0 complaints.

    Nice vid! I've been watching your V2 vids. After watching your long term review on the V2, I'm curious why you went with the V4?

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY 10 дней назад

      Appreciate the view. After getting the RSV4, I got used to having that much power all over the RPM range. The V2 is not a slow bike by any means, but it doesn’t have the power delivery of a 220 hp bike like an RSV4 or V4. That factor and I just wanted to try something different. I have already had the V2 for over 3 years now and wanted to stay in the Ducati family. What better way to stay in the Ducati family but get something different by getting a V4? Thanks again man.

    • @IKnowFootball
      @IKnowFootball 10 дней назад

      @@ridewithKY Nice and makes sense. I have an 899 and V4. 899 has been track duty only for the last 4 years since picking up the V4. I think I want something different than the 899…but having a hard time deciding…V2, 990 RCR, or the Ape RSV4. Curious on your thoughts?

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY 9 дней назад

      @IKnowFootball I think the V2 and 899 are too similar so I probably wouldn’t get a V2. 990RCR is going to be a cool bike for sure but we all know KTM quality is very poor. Those first few model years I’d probably wait out for KTM to work all the kinks out. I had a Husqvarna for a few years which used all KTM running gear, I would not buy another KTM personally. That leaves the RSV4. I love my RSV4 and for the money I don’t think it can be beat. That 1099 cc V4 is special. Has a lot more partial throttle torque than the Pani V4’s do but still have that outrageous top end the Pani V4’s are known for. If it were me, I’d get the RSV4.

    I think america is like playing GTA. Anything goes. 😂😂. No point saying you cant because from what i gather you can start with a superbike from day one. Id be taking about the dangers of going fast without the skills. Motojitsu seems to encourage speed but highlights the dum things people do. Sadly it be too late for some young punk to go up the hills for a ride and going too wide from too much speed and the paramedics scraping you off the road. A smaller capacity reduces risk but dosnt prevent risk 😂 Usally its the kids that have good jobs are good to there mother but just love thrills as we all do. God bless America, and thanks for coming. 😅😅 Ive subcribed.

      @ridewithKY 11 дней назад

      Appreciate the view and the feedback. I’m 5’5”, so pretty much any sport bike is tall for me. Just have to work around it. What saves the v2 for shorties like us is its light and it’s very narrow. Compared to my v4 and rsv4, the v2 is pretty easy to handle despite being hardly able to touch the ground.

      It’s more for aesthetics than anything. Café racers traditionally had clip ons. Only functional difference is you get less wind buffering because you aren’t sitting so straight up and down. Wind buffering is just a naked bike thing and not exclusive to XSR’s. I think eventually you get used to the wind buffering but since I am used to fully faired bikes, it’s tough acclimating to the wind resistance of nakeds. Appreciate you watching, and appreciate the feedback.

    Cheers for the video mate nice bike too. I recently got myself a brand new 2021 Lava Red Factory with zero kms on it here in New Zealand lucky to get the carbon Akroprovic pipe and Race mapping in the deal. Still has 2 year warranty so i have to get my local Dealership to do it. Usually do it myself aswel though. Pulled it all apart for Radiator guards ect and while at it removed the servo and charcoal canister setup let those fans work better and less weight. First ride had engine light come on one of the top black injector plugs wasn't plugged in haha 7500rpm no power and light on 😢😂 sorted myself. Cant wait to run her in feels so much better than my last 18RF. I done the Full paint protection on it also, holy shit it was a long mission 😂.

    Heard both Akra and Termi. Went with the Termi (D18409400INA) for my V4SP. Comes with UpMap and race filter. The sound to me was a much bolder sound. Oil/Water cooler guards a must. FullSix matches factory Ducati carbon perfectly. So if you ever want to mix-match with OEM, that's your best option. And the number 1 performance upgrade would be CF wheels. Rode my buddies V4S and it's very noticeable in all dynamic situations.

    I've always thought a trail bike and a dirt paddock is the best way to learn bike handling. Trying to learn bike AND road skills simultaneously is often disastrous. I guess the environment dictates the approach somewhat but I'd rather see someone learn on a more forgiving machine

      Depends on if you are responsible or not. These bikes are FAST. But you as the rider are in control of how much of that power you use. Besides the horsepower, these bikes are very light, nimble, and easy to ride. If you are mature and especially if you’ve had some fast cars already, I don’t see any issue with starting on a V2.
