Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day Jimmy ❤😊
Thanks so much Amin…truly appreciated! 🎸👍
Great-sounding tele! But what exactly is "engineered rosewood composite"? Does the body contain any actual rosewood?
@@jimmyj4811 It’s a good question JimmyJ and one that I don’t positively know the answer to. I believe the fretboard is rosewood. I think the rest of the body/neck is some type of “molded/engineered” wood. Obviously very solid and certainly looks the part. I don’t think they used any veneer for the top/back nor pieces as I can not find any seams at all except for the obvious “middle” which gives the impression of a “pancake” build like the originals that Fender did. I have asked of course, but this is basically the only info I am getting from FF. Whatever they used, it seems to have worked well. It’s possible that they made up a formula that uses bits, pieces, saw dust, shavings of different types of wood, pulp and resin to form the body/neck. Sand and stain…but I am only speculating at this point in how it was done. Thanks so much for stopping into the channel. Much thanks man….🎸👍
Very nice looking Tele and very heavy to. I like the guitar 🎸 and the sound of it as well but I don’t think I would be buying this one because I have just bought a FFTL with the Bigsby and filtertron pickups and F holes and I really like this guitar. And as always Jimmy your playing is top notch along with the videos you are making and giving us great content. Thank you for your time and insight on the guitars you bring to us.

The new one looks bigger.
@@jackreston8188 Thanks so much for stopping in. Both guitars are the exact same size. Camera angle/perspective is deceiving. Same reason people think Tom Cruise is tall…😎
I checked the website and there are no rosewood FFTL guitars.
@@jameslanclos568 Hi James…thanks for stopping into the channel. As I stated in the video, these sold out within minutes after going live for purchase. Usually, Firefly will remove the listing from the website once a particular model sells out. You won’t see the sister “rosewood” Strat listed now either. Once they return in stock, Firefly will list them again. When that is however, is anyone’s guess. Seeing how well they sold and the potential demand, I would imagine they would be wanting that to be as soon as possible. Appreciate your watching and commenting. 🎸👍

@@matthewfarren5423 Hi Matthew…that’s the golden question, right? Well, seeing how well they sold and the potential demand, I would say yes they will. The other part of that question is when, and I would assume that it will be as soon as they possibly can. I would guesstimate somewhere between the end of summer, beginning of fall if they have contracted to have more built already. So, hopefully soon! Appreciate your stopping into the channel! 🎸👍

It's a tele. It's to be used to bash unwanted fans attacks also. It weighs what it should.
@@michaelmillican5592 🤣🤣 Gave me a good chuckle this morning Michael….thanks so much for stopping in! Much thanks….😎👍
With the exception of the rosewood fretboard, I would imagine that this tele is some sort of other wood, dyed to look like rosewood, what ever it is,it's a very attractive guitar, firefly has really stepped up their game, offering some fine signature guitars.
@@2dazetake Hi 2Daze…thanks so much for watching and commenting. As per Firefly, they state it is a composite “engineered wood”…so whatever they used, they did a fine job! I see no seams (except the middle) and they even went as far as to give it the “pancake” look with the middle between top/back like the originals. Truly impressive and thanks so much for stopping into the channel. 🎸👍

Too heavy for me. I have a Squier Classic Vibe 50’s Tele that weighed about 10lbs. I stripped it, gave it an arm cut & belly carve, and I gave it a smugglers rout and I was able to get 2.5lbs off that Tele. I refinished the pine body in transparent Purple w/a Black guard. I love the Alnico III pickups. It’s 10 years old now. I will never sell it.

I have worked with Rosewood many times my pieces didn't need a finish just the light sealer or oil finish. Rosewood can take a high polish by itself and it is an excellent choice for Fine Jewelry. Rosewood can be light or heavy depending on if it grew inside of the tree or close to the Bark Side.... 269 is insane I would have bought it even if I had to completely rebuild and rework it
@@fordsrestorations970 Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Truly appreciate your stopping into the channel and sharing your thoughts! 🎸👍
Nice playing Jimmy! I especially enjoyed your version of One After 909. I was lucky enough to get in my order before they sold out and I just received my FFTL Rosewood Tele today! It IS a heavy guitar - mine's about the same as yours, 10 lbs. 2 oz. I have one other guitar that weighs about the same - a Harley Benton TE-52. Funnily enough, the weight of that guitar bothers me. This one, not so much. I think it has something to do with how darn pretty it is!
@@BigBraddah Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Nice!! Congrats on yours and enjoy it!! I have a couple of Ash guitars that weigh in over 10 lbs, also a couple of LP styles as well. I agree with your assessment on this…weight somehow does not seem to be as important on this one…😎 Truly appreciate your stopping into the channel and congrats once again! 🎸👍
I wouldn't but a ffl if my ass fell off. No resale value. Just is.
@@ranman58635 Thanks so much for stopping in. Funny…I see a lot of Firefly’s being sold for more than new price, but most of us are not buying them for perceived “resale value”. I will most likely let my grand kids fight over that…🤣
@@JimmyStewart1, no problem, isn't that inflation? Eventually, it drops. Glad they get to play
@@ranman58635 Inflation…no, not really. Inflation just makes everything cost more as the value of your currency is worth less today than it did yesterday. In the used guitar market, pricing is based on player perception and supply/demand. How many 59 LP Honeybursts were made…how many “NoCasters” etc…etc….funny thing is, not all “old vintage” guitars were good guitars. In the case of Firefly, they are doing things right. Supplying well built, budget instruments that one can use/mod to their hearts content without breaking the bank. Not “overproducing” any one model, which keeps demand up. People walk into their local Guitar Center and see a nice FF 338 or LP/SP hanging on the wall with a price tag of $295 and the Epiphone hanging next to it at $385-$400. I am talking used now…they play both and realize the FF plays/sounds just as nice and offer GC $275 for the FF guitar. Sold they say! They didn’t realize they could go online and buy a new 338 for $189 - $219 and even with shipping, come out ahead. Happens every day…especially with Firefly as they are a smaller brand with limited models and many different finishes that become hard to get once the batch is gone. As far as budget guitars and resale value, they certainly hold their own in that respect. 🎸👍
Great video as always.

I enjoy all of your videos Jimmy especially when you go into details about the neck profile and such
1) WOW! I can’t believe you actually got one of these-they must have sold out in the blink of an eye, because I never even saw them go live on their website! This Firefly DEFINITELY looks classier and better to me than the Harley Benton TE-70-that high gloss finish they did over their fake rosewood veneer just did not look right somehow, nor did their maple neck with the fake rosewood veneer on the headstock. The Harley Benton TE-70 seemed all around like a “poser” guitar, but this one looks like it is aesthetically AND functionally more like the real thing! 2) It sounds VERY articulate AND very rich on the low end! But 10 lbs makes it as heavy as a vintage Les Paul. Heck, some LPs out there are even lighter than that! If it’s true that Firefly’s rosewood Strat is in the 7-8 lbs range, I might just get have to get one of those instead of the Tele. 😢 I wonder why the Strat would be so much lighter than the Tele…
@@zuperdee Hi PG…thanks so much. Yes, like I stated in the video, they literally sold out in minutes. These are MUCH nicer than the HB version from what I have seen, though this is only via pics of the HB. The weight was always my concern as even using “engineered rosewood” I anticipated it being a bit on the heavy side. I have heard that most receiving them reporting mid 9 lbs as like all guitars, they will vary in weight. I have not heard examples of weights for the Strat.
Beautiful but a beast in weight.

Beautiful retro looks, by George! Firefy did this one right, with a rosewood fretboard. Harley Benton came out with a Strat version. Pau ferro fretboard. Major fail. Grab one when they are available. @@calbrockocat8728 Thanks so much for stopping in Cal…Yes, Firefly did this (and the Strat) justice I believe! Not a big fan on the HB version(s). From Leo: Great into jam Sir. In fact all your playing was top shelf, you did get great tones from those pickups. It sounds and looks really good but over 10 pounds for Tele is pretty heavy. There are quite a few Firefly models I would like to buy, however, Firefly will not ship to the UK, I don't know why they don't sell to the UK. Jimmy maybe you could find out why they wont ship to the UK?
@@AndrewAHayes Hi Andrew…thanks for stopping into the channel and watching. Currently, Firefly can only ship to the lower 48 states. This is due to a number of factors. They are a small company, that can only manufacture a limited number of guitars per batch. They would simply not have enough inventory to fulfill orders worldwide. Their distribution warehouse is located in California for stateside shipping and as such, has only been setup and contracted for stateside shipping. Overseas shipping is very expensive, and different countries have their own fees, taxes, tariffs which Firefly is simply not equipped to deal with, nor do they have the personal/staff to handle it. They operate on a very thin profit margin, thus the savings they can pass on to the customer. All of their employees are located and based in China…(only a handful or so) which makes logistics, communication that much more difficult due to language differences, time differences, cultural differences, etc…etc… Your best bet is to use a proxy type of shipping service from a stateside shipping address. Lots of folks have done this, but it can get quite expensive and will negatively affect most of any savings you may have been hoping for. Thomman (Harley Benton) out of Germany is another source for European customers looking for a good budget instrument, fairly priced. They are a much larger company, and ship internationally. Truly appreciate your stopping into the channel, and hope this helps explain a bit…🎸👍
