With the exception of the rosewood fretboard, I would imagine that this tele is some sort of other wood, dyed to look like rosewood, what ever it is,it's a very attractive guitar, firefly has really stepped up their game, offering some fine signature guitars.

    1) WOW! I can’t believe you actually got one of these-they must have sold out in the blink of an eye, because I never even saw them go live on their website! This Firefly DEFINITELY looks classier and better to me than the Harley Benton TE-70-that high gloss finish they did over their fake rosewood veneer just did not look right somehow, nor did their maple neck with the fake rosewood veneer on the headstock. The Harley Benton TE-70 seemed all around like a “poser” guitar, but this one looks like it is aesthetically AND functionally more like the real thing!
    2) It sounds VERY articulate AND very rich on the low end! But 10 lbs makes it as heavy as a vintage Les Paul. Heck, some LPs out there are even lighter than that! If it’s true that Firefly’s rosewood Strat is in the 7-8 lbs range, I might just get have to get one of those instead of the Tele. 😢 I wonder why the Strat would be so much lighter than the Tele…

Hi PG…thanks so much. Yes, like I stated in the video, they literally sold out in minutes. These are MUCH nicer than the HB version from what I have seen, though this is only via pics of the HB. The weight was always my concern as even using “engineered rosewood” I anticipated it being a bit on the heavy side. I have heard that most receiving them reporting mid 9 lbs as like all guitars, they will vary in weight. I have not heard examples of weights for the Strat.

Wood is a funny thing…getting it just right for a build is not as easy as some believe. Composites are in general, more stable when done correctly. I am not a full believer in the whole “tone woods” myth when it comes to electric guitars. Tone is subjective, and comes mostly from the player’s hands, pickups and amp…

Bob Benedetto was honest in his book showing that it was design and execution by making a guitar with knotty low grade hardware pine. I have worked with Rosewood many times my pieces didn't need a finish just the light sealer or oil finish. Rosewood can take a high polish by itself and it is an excellent choice for Fine Jewelry. Rosewood can be light or heavy depending on if it grew inside of the tree or close to the Bark Side.... 269 is insane I would have bought it even if I had to completely rebuild and rework it

Harrison's Mahogany Tele WAS solid Mahogany as it was the "prototype". It weighed a ton ..hence why the tributes were chambered.

      @@worthmoremusic
Thanks for stopping into the channel. Well, based on what I have read and researched, Harrison’s Tele was indeed a prototype but was not a solid rosewood slab, but made of 4 pieces (two for the front and two for the rear) and chambered for weight relief, according to Martin Kelly, guitar historian and co-author of The Golden Age of Fender: 1946-1970. Here is a bit of Kelly’s article for Guitar Player:
“The first Rosewood Tele was constructed from four pieces of rosewood glued together - two on the top and two on the bottom,” Kelly explains. “Harrison's prototype guitar was made from four bits of rosewood, whereas production examples seem mostly to be made using a solid slab of rosewood on the back and a solid slab on the front. All Rosewood Teles feature a thin layer of maple sandwiched in the center of the body.
All Rosewood Teles feature a thin layer of maple sandwiched in the center of the body
      Martin Kelly
“George’s guitar was chambered - perhaps more so than production models - to alleviate weight. Rosewood is a dense wood, and production Rosewood Teles can often be very heavy, even though they’re chambered. They vary a lot in terms of weight, but I’m reliably told George’s guitar is lighter than most production examples

      @@jimmyj4811
It’s a good question JimmyJ and one that I don’t positively know the answer to. I believe the fretboard is rosewood. I think the rest of the body/neck is some type of “molded/engineered” wood. Obviously very solid and certainly looks the part. I don’t think they used any veneer for the top/back nor pieces as I can not find any seams at all except for the obvious “middle” which gives the impression of a “pancake” build like the originals that Fender did. I have asked of course, but this is basically the only info I am getting from FF. Whatever they used, it seems to have worked well. It’s possible that they made up a formula that uses bits, pieces, saw dust, shavings of different types of wood, pulp and resin to form the body/neck. Sand and stain…but I am only speculating at this point in how it was done. Thanks so much for stopping into the channel. Much thanks man….🎸👍

Hi Matthew…that’s the golden question, right? Well, seeing how well they sold and the potential demand, I would say yes they will. The other part of that question is when, and I would assume that it will be as soon as they possibly can. I would guesstimate somewhere between the end of summer, beginning of fall if they have contracted to have more built already. So, hopefully soon! Appreciate your stopping into the channel! 🎸👍

From Leo: Great into jam Sir. In fact all your playing was top shelf, you did get great tones from those pickups. It sounds and looks really good but over 10 pounds for Tele is pretty heavy. I have a Rosewood Tele from another brand, but the high gloss finish is so dark it looks like a black guitar if it is not in direct sunlight. I like the finish on the firefly better.

Hi Mike…thanks for watching and commenting. Trust me, we all draw from the same guitars as anyone else. Most any guitar you order on-line is going to need a setup once it reaches you. It really is a special “surprise” if it don’t. Did you get your Explorer from Amazon? Just wondering…a new set of strings (usually a must) along with a tweak in the neck/bridge will get that buzz out…not sure what you mean about the vol controls being “reversed”….

Hi James…thanks for stopping into the channel. As I stated in the video, these sold out within minutes after going live for purchase. Usually, Firefly will remove the listing from the website once a particular model sells out. You won’t see the sister “rosewood” Strat listed now either. Once they return in stock, Firefly will list them again. When that is however, is anyone’s guess. @@ranman58635
Inflation…no, not really. Inflation just makes everything cost more as the value of your currency is worth less today than it did yesterday. In the used guitar market, pricing is based on player perception and supply/demand. How many 59 LP Honeybursts were made…how many “NoCasters” etc…etc….funny thing is, not all “old vintage” guitars were good guitars. In the case of Firefly, they are doing things right. Supplying well built, budget instruments that one can use/mod to their hearts content without breaking the bank. Not “overproducing” any one model, which keeps demand up. People walk into their local Guitar Center and see a nice FF 338 or LP/SP hanging on the wall with a price tag of $295 and the Epiphone hanging next to it at $385-$400. I am talking used now…they play both and realize the FF plays/sounds just as nice and offer GC $275 for the FF guitar. Sold they say! They didn’t realize they could go online and buy a new 338 for $189 - $219 and even with shipping, come out ahead. Happens every day…especially with Firefly as they are a smaller brand with limited models and many different finishes that become hard to get once the batch is gone. As far as budget guitars and resale value, they certainly hold their own in that respect. 🎸👍
