  • In this 211th installment, Jimmy reaches back and has a little “Nostalgia Day” and gives Billy Bob (Grote GR35 MT) a little “blues love” and some play time. This guitar was first introduced on the channel 3 years ago in Feb of 2021 and another fun “335” style from the herd! Surprisingly, still available on Amazon! Thanks for watching!!

    From Leo: (the other one ) Thanks for revisiting that guitar. Many times we see a guitar and never see it again. It is good to know that the neck did not become problematic as it settled in with age. Straight traditional blues are always fun. Playing them on a semi hollow just feels right.

      Hi David….thanks so much for watching and commenting. So glad to hear you enjoyed it! I have a number of good, decent playing/feeling/sounding 335 style guitars in the herd. No HB 335 style however. The Firefly 338 is another favorite…and they had the Monoprice Boardwalk (my orange finish in the video) on sale recently as well. I have full reviews and demo’s of them all here on the channel. Happy shopping and thanks again for stopping into the channel! 🎸👍

    Awesome JS🎸《☆》Nice demo Brother👍🏾🍺🤳I had an Epiphone Casino I got on Craigs list. It was a Package deal including a VOX AD50VT amp. I kept the amp but sold the Casino. It was a Natural finish John Lennon custom shop model. I wouldn't mind having another semi hollow guitar. The Casino retained the smell of pipe tobacco from a previous owner. It smelled kindly nice. Go 49ers🍺😁🏈Who said that✌🏼😎☯️

      I almost forgot, if you (or someone else who has one) happen to get a moment while you're around your collection and wouldn't mind measuring the 3-way switch nut on the IYV thinline tele, it'd be appreciated. I just need the size number so that I can order one (e.g., M6). All the best!

      @JimmyStewart1  5 месяцев назад

      Hi Rob…thanks so much! So glad you enjoyed it! I forgot all about trying to measure that 3-way switch nut on the IYV…my bad. I have a set of calipers that I was going to use, but don’t know if that will actually give you what you are looking for. I think you will also need to know the thread type along with the inside/outside diameter, right? I do know that it’s not a standard hexagonal style nut…it’s round.

    I have two of the dark red versions of that Grote. The humbucker version uses the name Redid on the headstock. Other than that, it is identical. Absolutely love them both. I wish the green version would have been available at the time as I would have opted for that. Can't really complain though. The Ebay guy only had red and sunburst which I did not care for. They were very well discounted since I bought two and he threw in free shipping.

    Thanx jimmy I love your reviews but I can decide between a Harley Benton with p90's or a Grote. My only real concern is ceramic pick ups. As long as the grote has alnico p90's I might give it a try.

    • @JimmyStewart1
      @JimmyStewart1  5 месяцев назад

      Hi Timothy…thanks so much for watching and commenting. I have never pulled the pups on the Grote to verify what they are to be honest….they are some of the better sounding “stock” dog ear P90’s in my opinion. I know that HB uses their “in house brand” Roswell pickups. Their humbuckers are a bit enemic for my taste, but I don’t have a HB model with P90’s…Truly appreciate your stopping into the channel and glad to hear you are enjoying it! Much thanks…🎸👍

    Good Sunday evening dear Jimmy, very nice video of a great guitar. I have a Gretsch similar in color but with 2 HBs. Those P90's sound fantastic. I'll have to get a guitar with them in the future but I'm currently in the effects stage, 2 more reverbs will be delivered tomorrow. A total of 25 effects since November last year, I have to stop the madness, also for peace in the family😀. Greetings Pavel CZ.👍👍👍

    That Grote is definitely unique-it’s NOT often you find a 335-type guitar with P90’s. That spalted maple FF338 looks unique, too! So did you figure out the issue with the Ace Frehley LP yet? BTW, I seem to recall you also have a Trampas Green Firefly LP, right? HERE’S A FUN FACT: Trampas Green was actually named after Trampas Ferree, the employee at PRS who originally came up with that color. I wonder why Firefly decided to offer a PRS color on one of their Gibson-style models…

    • @JimmyStewart1
      @JimmyStewart1  5 месяцев назад

      Hi PG….Yeah, Billy Bob is unique….me likes! 👍
      The Spalted FF338 I installed a Duesenberg Les Trem ll on…it’s also very nice. My FFLP is a 1st run “Olive” color…it wasn’t until later batches that they changed the color slightly to “Trampus” green. The colors are actually different as well…not sure the reasoning…perhaps they thought it would sell more? 🤔
      Thanks as always for stopping in my friend…always appreciated! 🎸👍

    • @zuperdee
      @zuperdee 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@JimmyStewart1 I guess it’s possible… Trampas Green is famous, after all, so I’m guessing it probably wasn’t too hard for them to change it from Olive to Trampas… In other words, maybe it was just a little work for a big gain in color recognition. 😂 So what’s the deal with the Ace Frehley LP? 😉

    • @JimmyStewart1

      Yeah…I am sure it was more of a selling point for them.
