    UPDATE: I just found a cached version of the Firefly pages on their “Rosewood” Teles and Strats… They say it is a “rosewood composite,” which suggests some kind of engineered wood to me. Even if it isn’t “real” rosewood, this still seems like a big upgrade over the fake rosewood veneer used on others like the Harley Benton TE-70.

      Yes…some of these are currently being received by those who ordered on the West Coast…they are indeed a type of “engineered wood”. Early reports are very positive. Weight being a possible concern for some…Appreciate your stopping by PG….much thanks! 🎸👍

    • @zuperdee
      @zuperdee Месяц назад +1

      @@JimmyStewart1 That makes total sense… Real natural rosewood would almost certainly be too expensive for them to produce these at the $269 price point… But if they are able to use this “rosewood composite” even for the neck, then I imagine it must be pretty strong and dimensionally stable, so I’m already VERY impressed-this indicates a level of genuine innovation that we haven’t seen from Firefly before, which makes me wonder what they might be capable of in the future! It always seems like they drop the returns before the big drop. So its hard to judge when they are into the new guitars. They had a composite wood strat that was meant to look like rose wood but was really a composite decking type material. Looked nice but it was gone in a few minutes it seemed.

    • @JimmyStewart1
      @JimmyStewart1  Месяц назад

      @@johnoch6545
      Thanks so much for stopping in. The “rosewood” Strat and Tele sold out in minutes. They are “engineered wood” body’s which look great and should be even better as far as holding up to stress, temperature and humidity changes. We shall see as folks start to receive them…a solid rosewood body/neck/fingerboard would be far to expensive to build and the weight would be impractical. Even Fender did those as a “pancake” style body, chambered as well and they still weighed a ton…🎸👍

    There are quite a few Firefly models I would like to buy, however, Firefly will not ship to the UK, I don't know why they don't sell to the UK.
    Jimmy maybe you could find out why they wont ship to the UK?

    • @JimmyStewart1
      @JimmyStewart1  28 дней назад

      @@AndrewAHayes
      Hi Andrew…thanks for stopping into the channel and watching. Currently, Firefly can only ship to the lower 48 states. This is due to a number of factors. They are a small company, that can only manufacture a limited number of guitars per batch. They would simply not have enough inventory to fulfill orders worldwide. Their distribution warehouse is located in California for stateside shipping and as such, has only been setup and contracted for stateside shipping. Overseas shipping is very expensive, and different countries have their own fees, taxes, tariffs which Firefly is simply not equipped to deal with, nor do they have the personal/staff to handle it. They operate on a very thin profit margin, thus the savings they can pass on to the customer. All of their employees are located and based in China…(only a handful or so) which makes logistics, communication that much more difficult due to language differences, time differences, cultural differences, etc…etc…
      Your best bet is to use a proxy type of shipping service from a stateside shipping address. Lots of folks have done this, but it can get quite expensive and will negatively affect most of any savings you may have been hoping for. Thomman (Harley Benton) out of Germany is another source for European customers looking for a good budget instrument, fairly priced. They are a much larger company, and ship internationally. Truly appreciate your stopping into the channel, and hope this helps explain a bit…🎸👍

    I bought one the first time around and I love the neck and the lightness. The tuners and pickups left much to be desired back then and I replaced both. Finding decent open headstock tuners reasonably priced was not easy and I'm still not happy with the third set I've tried. Slick P90's sound great in this body for sure. I also swapped out the tail for something more substantial. Overall it's a winner!
