Geez that has binds even after
Hope you feel better. Back injuries really stink.
I remember as a kid I had a VHS of the I love Toy Trains series and it was probably one of my first major exposures to O Gauge. I've recently gotten back into the hobby and started a small collection, mainly because I plan on including all the fun accessories that seem to be prevalent in the the world of O Gauge.
Use rubber bands to hold the split frame together instead of a clamp like the vice grip you used to avoid too much pressure or marks on the frame.
I prefer your channel with DC because I like the mechanics of it. Like working on a car. DCC is very technical and not as entertaining. I have both in my collection. Folks really should master repairing DC because if your machine ain't working right, than neither will their DCC
Nicely done. True value is closer to what sold price is on evilbay. There was a time around 2012 ish Greenburgs price guide was fairly close. I agree values have dropped on all of postwar except for the very rare pieces. Overall you did very well.
As usual I’m a 33% er I just picked up basically three plus full sets of pre war Lionel’s instead of flipping as is I’m considering restoring all the engines and a few passenger cars
One thing that ruins the look of a locomotive or a caboose or really any train with no glass on the windows. I just take the package from some food with flat clear plastic. I cut a small piece of the plastic and put some CA on the inside of the model and with a pair of tweezers voila! You have glass! If you need it to curve get it warm. Its cheap and looks great. Sure it doesn't flush into the window but it looks great.
I have so far fixed 3 Kenmore vintage sewing machines with cracked gears using 2 part epoxy, and as I get back into N gauge Im sure Ill get more cracked gears, especially from stuff bought on Ebay.............
I've run into this a few times, get temu they have rechargeable 9v batteries. You always do a good job on these videos and repairs
Great 😊
Thank you Ron and Dave. Great fun to watch.
3 db lower is a 100% reduction of your perceived loudness level so 5 db is really good. I didn’t think you would reduce the noise by that much really. And I like graphite grease not the liquid stile. The grease helps the graphite hang in place.
You could have added tiny holes so that you could oil the shafts now and in the future. If you were really fancy, you could get some small letter stamps and imprint "oil" next to the holes.
PS 1 The land of clinks and clanks.
I don`t know of any prune juice that would give me more runs. You know the thing.
Awsome stuff, glad to see some of your o gauge get to stretch their legs
Watching those locos slipping on the track reminded me of the little engine that could
Frog Snot you can make your own traction tires with it by just brushing it on the wheels and it will stop the wheels from spinning under load.
Wheels need a clean surface for electrical pickup. I dont believe in frog snot.
@@classicmodeltrains you don't have to do all of the wheels just one of the back ones or two
I have a K -Line 027 big boy steam locomotive. Only paid $400 for a brand new conventional only. So much cacophonous noise. It gives you a headache after a while especially if you have more than one locomotive running just like to smoke units you can run enough steam engines with their smoke until you turn on the smoke alarm.
Yes I agree
Ron, a really great O gauge MTH Proto 1 fix it video, highlighting akaline battery capacitor leakage and corrosion problems that resulted. In high heat and recovering from back injury, you prevailed 😊!!
It took awhile. Just glad I didnt drop anything to the ground. Very hard to get down there and pick it up
Havin' a bunch hangin' around, not getin' em' all to connect up... I can so relate.
:-)
Very helpful . I needed to know how to disassemble to install a DC operating CAN motor and your video saved me making mistakes. Thanks . Two thumbs Up 😄 👍👍
Glad to help out Robert
I hope they're finally getting their due! I alwyas loved the brown box Tycos. I still have a few. :)
They are finally!!
Thank you for sharing with everyone! Great
Thanks for watching!
As a guy who is fairly new to o gauge I dont mind running a little bit of everything old and new
I like the way you think
I drilled my MU-2 motor rivets for 00-90 then threaded them 00-90 drilled out the rivet lips disassembled the motor then put back together with 00-90 hex head screws. worked just fine.
right on
Hi Dave, I was wondering if the sound effects for the locomotive could be ran through a sound system. How cool would that be?
Hello John. A feller could install a wireless sound transmitter (lapel mic, guitar pickup, etc) if ya had enough electronics knowledge
Santa Claus brought a 2026 to me in 1953. Never pulled more than 3 cars without derailments, slipping, etc. What a fun video! Thanks for sharing your fun! The Big Boy is so beautiful!
sorry to hear your 2026 gave you a lot of problems
@@classicmodeltrains Thanks. Actually, it was a good engine. As you know, it was pretty hefty in weight, but just not a heavy puller without magn-atraction. It came in what I think Lionel called its Scout set for lower income folks, with O27 track and only a tanker, gon, and caboose. I was sorry to see it go when "Santa" decided to switch us HO in 1960. 😁
Joy to see you playing trains. Keep living your life with your creative happiness. Good on ya!
Thanks, you too!
Glad you found a modeling buddy in Local Dave, Ron. Hope youre healthy and doing all right
Im glad to have found Dave as well. Still waiting for the back to be all better.
@@classicmodeltrains thoughts and prayers
Just a thought, if the train is still not able to pull the cars and you need more weight, you can go find some earlier 1940'-1950's dicast shells that add a lot more weight to the loco
Sure a feller could do that but I liked this particular factory color so I added weights to this chassis
@@classicmodeltrains I had the same problem with a Varney Illinois central f unit. I found a custom painted dicast A unit online and bought three more undecorated dicast kits to go with it. With some painting and detailing they look just as well as the newer plastic factory painted version and run a bigger load too.
What a great way to spend a day! Thanks for sharing. Was really hoping to see what was in the trailer. It sounded very healthy. LOL Thanks for sharing.
Thanks John. My neighbor has a 9 second some sorta class I cant remember. It looks like a t-bucket
The first thing you should have tried was power it up and leave it alone for 5 or 19 minutes. Then try to run it. Of course then there would have been no reason for a video. Simple things first.
I did do that before I ever took it apart and found that battery completely exploded inside
It looks like you need some helper service on that hill. That looks like it was a lot of fun.
been a long time since Ive run em that large
Ron, you are truly a treasure, that very rare ability to have fun, informative, and just a regular good guy, dont ever change, you are what this hobby and the world needs,my greatest respect, regards, Joe
Thank you very much Joe for those kind words
Great fun, Jersey Bill

Wow…I felt like a seven year old…my friend had a layout and gear like that, in the 50’s…his Dad was an engineer for Canadian Pacific Railway…I wanted a Lionel, but my Dad opted for the Lionel HO for my first train…good days those, thanks for sharing…love the night shots…Cheers to you and Dave from 🇨🇦
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Ron for another great wrecking ball and rebuild tutorial.

Awesome. Some really good runners and a few that need some love to be the best they can. Great video. 👍
Thanks Norm
Glad I got into MTH Premier engines w proto 3, way after the proto1 white battery hiccup they put out.
Every company seems to have growing pains with there products
Excellent video, as usual! Nice to see vintage Lionel riding the rails ----- especially the Pennsylvania Steam Turbine.
thanks Mike
Two happy 8 year olds who road in on there Big Wheels and are playing trains! Does not get any better!
we even walked down to the convenience store and bought soda's
@@classicmodeltrains Not sure those were sodas…. Jeff
These O scale three rail videos are the best…!!! I have an idea about how to manage more, a whole bunch more, smoke flowing out of the steamers…. I don’t think it will work on HO but there’s got to be plenty room in the O scale. Wait!?! Is that “Old Milwaukee” wobble pop, I’m spying?
There may have been an old Milwaukee or two
