I served in vietnam and the model 10 smith/wesson in 38 special were carried by air force crewman, like on a-6's , f4 phamtom, spotter planes. The army issued the 1911 45 acp 4th inf div. Pleiku S.vietnam.

Rifleman loadout is 2 canteens 3 M4 double mag pouches 2 3 mag shingles the etool carrier and a IFAK. The Grimlocks on the Camelbak carrier are for attaching to the back of the OTV or IOTV as they will not attach to the FLC. You have 2 types of Camelbak carriers issued to the Army the one you have with the grimlocks and I have the version with backpack style straps. My Digital Camo FLC is set up sorta like the Rifleman but I added a extra M4 double mag pouch 4 grenade pouches and a flash bang pouch along with pistol mag pouches and a LBT USGI surplus holster and drop leg panel to my setup.

They were like for a cross over between the military and police or something. $300 and i thought id chew it over next week all gone never to be seen again. Because of that i an unsure it was look at a few mins in the shop. I remember they were a bit short so i thought it would have big recoil so thats why i thought about it

I wouldn’t feel too bad about getting extras, it gives you options (if you ordered the right quantity, you might’ve gotten the cracked one). Plus you can fleabay the extras. You might be surprised by what people are willing to pay even for damaged original parts. I once offered up a relatively crappy Kar98k stock from an RTI project rifle when I got a decent replacement stock. The bidding on the crappy one went much higher than what I paid for the nice one… and based on the feedback, the winner was extremely happy to get it.

Triple K sells new reproduction grips for the MAB model D. Yes, they're not original, and the fit is fair. Also, for grip screws check Jack's First Parts.

Coswell's Electroless Nickel plating kit for the S&W. ALso good is the Black Nickel for that exotic look. The trick is to polish the base steel to a high degree of polish before plating or bluing. That's the secret to getting amazing blue or plating. A old gun will have lots of dings and deeper gouges on it but you can still do a halfway decent job on it.

no screws for the MAB grips ? if they are made of baquelite and worp you can not put them back to shape ,if they are hard rubber tipe gutta percha you migth get lucky to steam them up and flatten them between some soft wood plates in a vice but you have to be super cautious because you just can and will snap them, they look britlle and dried out . if they are made of buffalo horn you can heat them up or steam them and will be much easier to straigthen them up with a similar method as the hard rubber ,,, its a gamble .. myself, i wont even try . just put on the best ones and keep the rest as back up. the S&W looks much better with its original grips ..

I think if the 54 is converted for 9mm they would be called type 213. because have two with the 213 one is the kind that is most common and the other looks like the 54 but converted differently than the regular 213.

Yugo M57 has angled slide grip grooves while the Chinese ones are vertical.

I saw a lot of Romanian Tokarevs for around 200 last year.

I picked up one of their X Grade Tokarevs last time they had them. Great gun, only thing was some slide pitting that was refinished over. If you have the opportunity Aim surplus X Grade is a good value.
