Here’s one example of how I might expand on previous ideas in the moment on a gig. You can hear me using some of the same ideas as my previous upload of this tune from a couple years ago, followed by some continuous variation and experimentation while I’m “on the spot” playing for brunchers at Queens’ Provisions. Very beautiful .... brings me peace Your dogs seem to love it too!
Let's go dude that was sweet
Very cool, really like your playing, and specially the tunes you pick, thanks
Such good work, bravo!!!
Thanks for this…..wonderful.
Wonderful sound. Enjoyed that very much.
Thank you.😊
Bravo!!!
I always enjoy how you get harmonically inside the standards. Nice!
This got to be new york city
@@Frank-jb9cs yep!
uuuhhhhhh heheh😅
Really beautiful...great arrangement
Ohhhh, that's sweet. I worked in NOLA on the hurricane recovery technical effort, living in the Quarter. I do miss it. Sadly, I'll probanly return for the same reason.
I was there with Americorps NCCC back in 2010 working with Habitat for Humanity. Had a big impact on me. Would love to go back soon now that I have made friends with some folks that play down there
I like your playing very much. This guitar is beatiful, what guitar is?
Thank you! The guitar is a 1937 Martin C 1. One of the few archtops they made. Here I’m playing it with a Dearmond pickup from 1948 through a 50s tonemaster amp
Very nice.
What a great arrangement! Great performance!
Bravo Sir, what a great performance!!!!
perfection
Sick
Relaxing and soothing
I'm going to assume you're fond of this tune, as you posted another treatment earlier, on a flattop. I learned it through the Dorsey Bros' record, from '28. Your material always amazes me. I was considered an oddity thirty years ago, when I was in my 20s, for being a student of '20s-'40s jazz and pop standards. It's refreshing, and vindicating, to find that younger generations are finding this music and playing it with this authenticity.
Yes this is one of my favorites! I first heard the Lillie Delk Christian/Louis Armstrong version, then Annette Hanshaw a few years ago. Just a perfect song I think. I keep coming back to it
Wow! The history of this song, so cool! Nice job!
Beautifully done, as always. Thank you for sharing.
This is so very gorgeously uplifting. Thank you!
Nice job! Coincidently, tonight my jam group did "Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans..." and I come home and find you playing it. Serendipity...
Wow! Love the slight breakup you get when playing chords. Can I ask what pickup and amp you use?
Thanks! Yes the pickup is a ‘48 DeArmond Monkey on a stick. Amp is a 50s Tonemaster/valco. I’m also getting some saturation from a strymon deco pedal
Fantastic! I am working on an arrangement of this great tune currently. I appreciate you sharing your music very much.
Wonderful!
Great arrangement and performance of a beautiful song.
Beautiful! Didn't know the tune, but I love this era of songwriting, and it retained that style beautifully 🙂.
what was the first song you learned in this style?
Hmm that is a good question. Could you describe a bit what you mean by “this style” ? I’m curious, and it would help me answer you :)
Well done!
Love you Erik
That was great!
I shouldn't be by now, but I'm always surprised to find you playing another favourite of mine. Your solo work is so fine, full of beautiful little details and song era-appropriate atmosphere.
I really enjoyed your performance! Getting to hear your efforts and work at these great tunes keeps me enthused in my own pursuit of arranging these tunes. Thank you Sir!
Blind Blake may be my favorite guitar player. Nice job!
How simply gorgeous.
Wow i love this. Thank you for uploading
❤
have you ever heard of suna no hoshi - trigun anime?
Thank you. Eddie Lang fan here, you would make him proud.
Thank God the algorithm led me to this! So beautiful 🙏
Yeah!!!!
Makes me want to dance!!!
Just discovered you this morning, what a treat!
Beautiful
Well Erik, your playing here as convinced me I'm adding this to my Erik McIntyre guitar lesson list :-)
Love the vibe of this one!
Marvelous playing, such a nice song
