Hell ya.... you are awesome..... 💪💪
Bread 🥪🍞 YES!
The bestttttt 😍🙌🏼
What a joy to see your video in my feed and thank you for sharing
You're a pleasure to watch
How does your tempo pace usually compare to half marathon pace? And what does your hr usually sit at?
Tempo is usually around half marathon pace for me depending on whether it’s a high or low tempo🙌🏼but in this one I started low and went towards half pace 🙌🏼 Heart rate is so individual for everyone! It was 147 for the first, 154 for the second and 153 for the last effort 👌🏼
@ wow that’s so fast! 3.16/km for a half! And you must be super aerobically fit because I know so many people that run at that HR for their easy runs 😂
That was probably a tad quicker than half pace but I just go by feel a that felt good 💪🏼🙌🏼 yeh I do have quite a low HR! 😂
No1 as always a great film but I so like how you handle some quite sensitive topics.I am sure this will help many
Thank you coachie 🥰🥰
Nutrition is key
Absolutely 🙌🏼
I've been enjoying the lovely winter sunsets on my runs too. The cold weather is making my lips dry too! =[
Hi Hannah. All your tips help me a lot for my next and first half marathon. Gracias 🤩
🥳🙌🏼💪🏼 good luck with your training!
@hannahirwin_ thanks. On march 3th in Cancún we'll see how it goes 😎
Love this hannah. You help me with fueling a lot
Thank you ☺️🙌🏼💪🏼🥳
That looked like a great day of training and eating; if only all our running days could be that good, right? Good thing you managed to put those days of starving yourself behind you, that did not look healthy.
If the sun was out everyday it would be beautiful 😍🥳🙌🏼 I’m glad it’s behind me too!
Have you already tested the New Mizuno WAVE REBELLION PRO 3?
I have indeed! I wore them for my last few races and I LOVE them! 🤩😍💪🏼
I *had* a goal for a new marathon PB that I didn’t quite make last weekend, but I had committed to switching gears after that race whether I achieved my goal or not (I did not, but I still ran well). My next goal is a 5k PB, which is a welcome change of gears. Then maybe a swipe at a half marathon PB in the fall.
Even if we don’t PB, it can still be a great race 🥳which it sounds like it was! Good luck for the 5k 💪🏼
All the best for reaching your goals in 2025! There seems to be something about running and writing. A long time ago I worked at a magazine and that's when I became a regular recreational runner. My running partners were all writers and editors and we failed the talk test because we were better at words than running and could talk about everything under the sun no matter how hard we were going. I'm over 60 now and my PBs are well behind me, so my only real goal is to still be running at this time next year, and maybe to be more consistent about weekly long runs than I was in 2024. Outside of running, it's to finish a few of the little halfway done projects I've got laying around. It doesn't matter too much which ones, just check a few of them off the list.
Oh I love that!! 😍we are talkers!! Those are great goals to have!! 💪🏼🥳
Celebrate hair victories!😁 That was a really big day of training. Well done fitting in all of that and thanks for giving us a peek.
Thank you ☺️💪🏼
Consistency is a brilliant goal! That's on my list as well ✔️ That's where PBs come from... not from single hero-workouts. It's fun to have several goals. Sports, work, family, gardening... ok, that was my list 😂
Absolutely!! Even if it sounds cliche, consistency really is key 🥳💪🏼
Looking forward to following your journey, get after those miles and best of luck with your goals and PBs! Here's to a healthy start to the year!
Thank you ☺️💪🏼🙌🏼
❤❤❤!
As I own a bookshop I can't disagree about the power of reading! Goals for 2025 are just to run regularly (difficult at my age!) which means taking the same approach as you, Hannah. Any niggles or sniffles - do not run! Easy to say but I find it amazingly difficult to do. Run a good local park run on September 6th - the day after my 68th birthday.
They’re great goals 🤩😍🥳
Good luck. Hope you smash your PB’s
Thank you ☺️🙌🏼
My 2025 goal was to Get a PB in the marathon. I ran the Houston marathon last Sunday and achieved my goal with a 3:27 PB. It’s nice to achieve one of your big goals just a couple weeks in. I’m now training for an Ironman in November.
What a way to start the year 🔥 AMAZING!!!
Make your dreams a reality, you can definitely do it.
Thank you ☺️🙌🏼
hi Hannah i hope you can achieve all your goals this year.😎 saludos desde México
Thank you ☺️
@hannahirwin_ the most important is to stay healthy 😉
Really enjoy all ur video's but my favourite are what type of workouts u do
🥳🙌🏼💪🏼
You are so right about reading. I feel so much better when I don't get distracted too much with random stuff. Getting a British team vest would be an amazing achievement no matter what the pace is.
Reading just clears the mind 😍🙌🏼
My 2025 goals are consistency and pushing my VO2 max to...the max! Just want to see how fit I can get in one year and then re-assess at the end of the year. Hopefully 5k/10k times will increase as well =D! Hope you achieve your goals for 2025 :)
Great goals!! Thank you 🙌🏼💪🏼
To stay injury free this year. Had ankle surgery last march to fix Haglund Deformity, so pretty much all of last year was wrote off. Been building up the strength in the gym and building up the aerobic base on the spin bike. Running goals try to get a sub 20 5K at 61 years old.
Go for it mate
That’s a great goal 🥳you can do it 💪🏼🙌🏼
Listening to your body can be both the most obvious and the hardest thing to do, well done for taking some rest! My goals are somewhat similar to yours: I want to make it to the start line of my first marathon (Rotterdam, April 13) in one piece and in good shape. To achieve that, I need to be consistent, and right now I have to be careful not to let my weak knee flare up into injury again. Best of luck staying healthy and injury-free this year, and I'm looking forward to your book - I love reading too.
It really is! haha! So obvious, but so hard! My fingers are crossed for you! I think we can both do it :) Thank you!
@@hannahirwin_ I forgot to mention this, but you (sort of) asked what we liked to see, and I am a big fan of race reports. Not the easiest thing to do since you don't want to be carrying a camera while running a serious race, so you would need to enlist one or more friends to get some footage (or maybe get some footage from the race organizers, if possible). One youtuber that makes very good race reports is Emiel Berghout. Unfortunately all his content is in Dutch, so it may be a bit hard to follow for you, but he really talks the viewer through what is happening in the race, what his strategy is, and how he is feeling, all the while keeping you in suspense how the race might end. A good example is if you search on youtube for "emiel berghout bruggenloop". A bit closer to home, I think Nick Bester's race vlogs are also pretty good, and he has the added bonus of including 'telemetry' in his video, even though those are not always accurate.
I'll be buying that book 📖 😊
Thank you!! Need to finish it first!
Good luck (to both of us) staying injury free in 2025! Knowing that even elite and sub-elite runners pick-up injuries just like us more modest paced runners shows anyone can get niggles and strains. I just watched a video from the lovely Matt Rees (I met him post race at London marathon a couple years back) aka The Welsh Runner and sadly his dreams of running 2-20 at Seville have been scuppered by injury. I guess it's how we deal with them is what matters.
Injuries happen to all of us! It is just part of the parcel of the sport unfortunately! Thank you! I hope you do too :)
You can't tease writing a book without at least telling us the genre, all the readers want to know! Good luck on your goals
Thank you! It is a fictional family drama! I am about 2/3 through writing it but really want to get it fully finished :)
I hope you have an injury-free year Hannah. Hoping the same for myself too after some adductor issues last year that are mostly rehabbed! It's good to have goals and objectevs and "SMART" isn't a bad way of framing them, but they don't always have to be measured in an absolute like a 10k goal time. You might even limit your potential setting a time goal on a race if you're too "safe". I've come to be much more process-focussed with my running than focussing on race goals. I put so much pressure on myself that I don't actually enjoy some of the races so I've shifted focus! My coach, Phily B, has a few other athletes that are similar, it's nice knowing that my oddness isn't ucommon!
Thank you Iain! You're definitely not alone! A lot of us much too much pressure on ourselves! It just means we care and have high expectations for ourselves :)
My daughter and I really enjoy your videos, Hannah! Hope you don't mind me asking a few questions, don't feel like you have to answer any of them. What is your opinion on starting out running and competing for an 8 year old? Is it too soon? How much is too much? is it too early to consider racing for her? Also, do you have an opinion on double threshold sessions and finding lactate zones for a more scientific approach to training? Do you have any advice on what threshold actually is if going by "feel"? and how to find your LT1 and LT2 zones without testing blood? (that question is for my benefit, not my daughters :) Really hoping to can have an injury free year with the results you're looking for. I wish you the best of luck
ahh thank you so much for watching :) I started running when I was 6 years old but I only ran once a week, otherwise I just enjoyed all the other sports at school...I did this all the way until I was 13, when I ran 2 times a week (once a mini workout) and then otherwise still only other sports :) I did not properly start to train until I was 17 :) Maybe later than others but that was when I trained more purposefully. I raced the school races from U13...but I didn't train for them, just raced :) It is very individual but that is what I did. I was due to do testing this week but due to illness was not able to. I think lactate is helpful to ensure you don't push too hard, but it is not essential...effort is more important to me. I also do not do double threshold sessions as currently I would just fall apart, haha! The only way I know to find your zones specifically is through testing, but you can go according to feel such as '5k feel/10k feel/ tempo feel' Thank you so much :) I hope this helps!
Enjoyed this Hannah 🔥
Thank you for watching 🥳🥳💪🏼💪🏼
So in 2 years you was a 41min runner to a 32'40 ? It's crazy 😱
❤❤ we are inspired but YOU Babe!!
now im relaxed
Hi Hannah hope you're ok. What mizuno you're wearing on the gym ?
I was just wearing the wave sky! 🙌🏼 they’re the same shoe I do my easy runs in, but I just put on an old pair that I don’t run in anymore for the gym 💪🏼
@hannahirwin_ thank you
Nice GB Louise cameo!
That was a good video. Mixed it up a little. Like seeing you run with friends too. Reminds me that the most fun I have running is not by myself. It also keeps my pace honest since the "talk test" is the easiest way to know if you're pushing too hard.
Absolutely a great test!! And always good to mix it up and run with others sometimes 😍🙌🏼
❤freezing beach footage, fun!
Side to side squats... I'm always unable to move for like 3 days after those 🤣
Quite a relaxing video, thanks Hannah! Love your work!
Thank you for watching ☺️🙌🏼
summer is coming... true, but it will take another 4 months at least. well, where i live. but we have to try to make the best of it.
Everyday it gets a little bit lighter 😍🙌🏼
Must have been good to run with Louise Small I know she's got a good strong pace too - Great effort #HannahIrwin_ @HannahIrwin_
Solid training Hannah, well done👍
Thank you 🤗
I hope summer is indeed coming, I was cold for the first 4km of my run this morning. Btw, if you really want to run a 10K soon, there's an interesting one in the Netherlands on February 9, the "Groet uit Schoorl" in the North-Holland dune landscape. It's often hosted the 10K national road championships, though not this year. Of course, it's no warmer here than in the UK. Have you ever raced in the Netherlands?
Me too! I love the summer 😍🙌🏼 oooh I’ve never raced in the Netherlands but would love to one day 😍🙌🏼
Great insight video Hannah. Can you do a video on your 2025 plans and goals?
Absolutely 🥳😍🙌🏼great idea 🙌🏼thank you for the suggestion!
You are killing it .. and those legs wow
I have for 30 years now time to retire. Lol
