I always loved this drum track since it has a lot of those gallopy double snare hit patterns (e.g. on 2:33 and 2:45). They feature in many of your songs and for me are part of what make your drums stand out and awesome. I wonder if you'd noticed this yourself, and if it is perhaps a favorite of yours to play as well. Keep on rocking! <3

Back in the early 90’s, my brother lived in Philadelphia and worked in York sometimes. He knew about your band and played me Mental Jewelry and I played that CD to death. I was a teenage drummer back then. I loved your playing so much but you guys weren’t popular yet and it felt like a little secret. Then I saw Neil Peart give you a shout out as one of his favorite new drummers in a Modern Drummer article and I was so excited. I felt like I had good taste! Funny to think back to my teenage logic from 30 years ago. I’m so excited to see you play this on RUclips. Still sounds amazing after all these years.

I think I’ve watched this like 50 times. Man, I think you’re the soul of this band. Honestly I didn’t get it before but it just clicked. Hell, I would say Patrick’s parts are pretty amazing as well. Chad T is like the weakest link and Ed is next.

I won’t go see Live without this guy his feel his dynamics within the parameters of these songs can’t be replicated by anybody else his fills are unique they’re not overtly flashy but they don’t need to be. Drums are the oldest instrument on the planet and to be unique on the instrument is nearly impossible but Chad gracey manages to do it I can’t pay a higher compliment than that.

Chad, you were one of my favorite drummers to play along to when I was learning. thank you! did you use the same snare on Secret Samadhi that you used on Throwing Copper? it's one of my all-time favorite recorded snare sounds.

Always liked the "unplugged" version of this song, too. The fills in that one with the rests and spaces really tie it in🤘

His drum fills are the best. slick, clean, nothing over the top to take away from the vocals. I remember in the mid to late 90s as a high schooler growing up in the Philippines listening to his drum fills over and over, touching the dust cap of the speaker to feel the bass (couldn't afford a nice pair of headphones) and trying to copy his drumming. I had to make a copy of my Throwing Copper cassette tape so as not to wear out my original copy, playing and replaying the darn thing over and over. Playing Live songs with my band on the weekends and on to the Super Nintendo afterwards for some multiplayer action. Throwing Copper Album cover on my High School binder. Thanks for the inspiration and the memories Mr. Gracey. Oh the 90s... where did the time go?
