wow..... I am speechless! I recently rekindled my interest in playing the drums again after an absence for decades, starting out again - went and got myself a nice Tama kit. I've always loved the throwing copper album, especially the drumming. I originally came onto RUclips hoping to hear some of the songs again to try and get a feel for them - Never in a million years would I have expected to find this channel and Chad the man himself playing and sharing this with us lucky people. I am speechless but smiling from ear to ear :) thank you so much for sharing your work with the world Chad!!!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate the props and as I have said before, I am doing these vids for people like you. Thanks again and enjoy those new Tamas!!
I'm 62 and six months into learning. I've always wanted to, so I'm trying to get in 30 minutes a day. I watched your video about five times and think I understand what I'm seeing but feeling it and doing it are very different. Definite progress but I'm seeing a limitation by my age and thinking I might be able to feel it and do it together:)
Hi there. That really cool. Patience and little breakthroughs important here. I am self taught as well. You have a distinct advantage as you get to watch these videos....I had nothing like this when I was learning!! Please enjoy and thank you for watching!
I'm very happy that you answered me, it's an honor for me. I have your entire discography and The Gracious Few album... When is a new Live album? I've been waiting for this for years ^_^@@chadgraceyLIVE
Such a powerful song with even more powerful drums...you are an absolute treat to watch Chad... great drumming, these songs take me back in time, thank you. 🇮🇪 ☘️.
Hi. Yes I know what snare I am using....😁 That snare is 5X14 titanium DW snare. I also now have a 4X14 Brass DW snare that I have used in couple. I have not used the Pearl Free Floating piccolos for some time. Thank you for watching!
@@chadgraceyLIVE I love those tunes. I guess those didn’t make the later set lists? By the way, I always loved your drumming and how you and Patrick were always so locked in. Great stuff!
I may or may not be over analyzing this in the near future to learn to play it myself. I learned many guitar parts from stopping and rewinding over and over again on a vhs tape I have from Live Unplugged. Pretty sure that tape is totally warped and worn out now.
Love this Chad, great to see this channel....I saw you guys in the early Throwing Copper days, still have my ticket stub somewhere from the Highbury Garage , London, UK feb 1995, I think, tiny little place, but you guys were awesome!!!
Thanks, Chad!... this song is the song when i first heard it on the radio i was like.. "what... is... that??" it was mixed in w/ the pearl jam, the stp, alice n chains, etc... but, it was different. it was cleaner.. it was crisper. and, the drums seemed to drive the song, which i loved.. a credit to you. at the time i was like "whoever this is.. this is the sound i like". question: throughout live's performances, you would come in on this song at different times. sometimes in the first verse (like the studio version).. and sometimes after the pre-chorus.. i just wondered who made that call and which did you prefer? met you in greenville sc at a small club that's no longer there (the handle bar) when you played w/ the gracious few. nice getting to meet my fav drummer.
Very cool on meeting in Greenville. Sometimes I would come up with starting at a different time then how it was recorded or someone else would suggest it. I really appreciate you notes bud!! Thank you!
@@chadgraceyLIVE thanks for replying! as for these videos you have posted, I would love to see you play Top and /or Century when you get time. Really appreciate you taking time to engage with your fans
@@chadgraceyLIVE Nice man!! for some reason a flat snare is best for me. but i have seen great drummers doing it at an angle. very much a preference thing!!
@@chadgraceyLIVE titanium, wow. Yeah i heard the brass snare on your other videos. Love that brass sound.. is titanium not as ringy? It almost sounded like the aluminum Ludwig i had.
@@scottmartinetti4875 Titanium is a weird metal becuase it's super strong but also brittle. So I think that give is a little less ring but still has crack.
@@chadgraceyLIVE the original drummer is skinny cool handsome young man with the reverse hat... hahaha.. sorry just kiddin.. i knew you still dedicated and loyal member on this band until this day, at least i had your attention.. thanks for replying my comments sir and i still follow your ig until now.

You are very welcome. Glad I could be some part of it and thank you for listening@

Awesome !!!!

This is freakin awesome. Does anyone know what snare he's using in this? Sounds great. It's not the Pearl piccolo I don't think

Your use of slashes was always very tasteful and perfect for the song.
Grande baterista! Viva a banda LIVE!
I only recently realized it's a large Tom and bass drum alternating rhythm in that build section

Live is not the same without you.
I have to ask, what's with the angle on the snare drum. I get better slaps when its flat. I'm just curious what the benefit of the angled snare is?
Hi. There is no specific benefit...it's just how I evolved playing. I guess the angled snare works best for my body mechanics.
@@chadgraceyLIVE Nice man!! for some reason a flat snare is best for me. but i have seen great drummers doing it at an angle. very much a preference thing!!
Need that brass piccolo
I just got a brass 4" snare from DW that I used in some other vids on here. This snare is 5.5 titanium snare.
