Chad you deserve more credit you are one of the most underrated drummers of the 90s
Thank you so much!
Best drummer of the 90's heartbeat to the soundtrack of my youth
I agree Chad's drumming is powerful & tasteful with some very cool ideas.
The drum sound on throwing copper is also huge without being over-produced
I'd really love to know what snares were used on that record...
For sure!
@@StuartBrknJohns Wow. Thank you so much!
His drum fills are the best. slick, clean, nothing over the top to take away from the vocals. I remember in the mid to late 90s as a high schooler growing up in the Philippines listening to his drum fills over and over, touching the dust cap of the speaker to feel the bass (couldn't afford a nice pair of headphones) and trying to copy his drumming. I had to make a copy of my Throwing Copper cassette tape so as not to wear out my original copy, playing and replaying the darn thing over and over. Playing Live songs with my band on the weekends and on to the Super Nintendo afterwards for some multiplayer action. Throwing Copper Album cover on my High School binder. Thanks for the inspiration and the memories Mr. Gracey. Oh the 90s... where did the time go?
The time flew! I appreciate all of this and thank you for being so detailed in your description. I really dig how much you appreciate it. Thank you!
Live will NEVER replace Chad Gracey! He's the best.
Thank you so much!!
Holy crap this is some great drumming. Like, seriously.
Thank you so much!! I appreciate it!
I will never forgive Ed for ditching Chad. Chad is +LIVE+. He's an animal on the drums.
Great drumming.. he plays for the song 👍🏻
Yes sir. I appreciate the comment and try to do exactly that. Play for the song
One of my favorite song and favorite drummers. Got my first drumset because of this song!
I need this song for tonight's rehearsal. Thanks for letting me see how you play it. I will pay homage sir.
Sweet!! The perfect scenario for these vids! Kick ass!
Amazing!🤩
Thank you!!
I covered this song on my channel, it’s great watching the originator play this!!! Great job 👏
Very cool! Exactly why am doing this. I’m going to check it out!!
@@chadgraceyLIVE Thank You 🙏
@@chadgraceyLIVE Lol 😂 actually it was “Top”
Nailed it dude 🙌
Thank you!
My favorite drummer ❤️
I love it! It looks so hard!
Awesome! Thank you!
@@chadgraceyLIVElove the overhead view/perspective
@@chadgraceyLIVEi love the front and side too of course😅
One of my favorite Live songs of all time. Coming from a guy who had a hard time narrowing the list down to 2 custom CDs :)
I moved to the states in 1991, could not speak English but sang the songs anyways, had not idea what I was saying...great memories!! it was not easy for me at the time but your music inspired me to move forward... Today I'm back here in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 after 30 yrs, I own a Bed and Breakfast Breakfast that will open soon. Thank you for sharing these videos and thanks the guys for keeping the band together. Thanks for inspiring all of us.
Very cool. I have always wanted to visit PR. I need to get there some day!
I am opening my Bed & Breakfast next month finally after so much trouble. I am certified tour guide and know the island very well! Just let me know! I'm located by the National Rainforest/Yunque, beautiful place! Take cate, thanks again for the videos.
Dude, you’re by far my favourite drummer of all times and the reason I play drums.
Chad, if no one else has said it before (and I doubt no one has), you should take that slot in Foo Fighters, for their upcoming live dates. Throwing Copper was on repeat, on a surf trip a few years back, where we were ALL huge Live fans.
Let's get that going, Dave!
I appreciate that and although I know Dave (and knew Taylor) I did not get the call. 😁 I am very curious who Dave tapped.
So freaking cool! I love this! Great job, keep ‘em coming! 🤘🏼
The energy is so contagious
Thank you thank you!
Wowza such awesome power feel groove and melodic accents! Chad you a so awesome! And this is all the way from a huge fan in Trinidad and Tobago 😊
OMG cool. You are the first person I have ever interacted with from that part of the world. So cool to see our music reach far and wide! Thank you so much for listening!
Rifadisimo !!! Great great groove 🤟🤟
Fantastic Playing 👌 💥💥💥💥💥 🤩 🙌
You are Great
Thank you so much!
Hi Chad , this is great to watch , the international drumming community thanks you !!!
Can you explain how you ended up with your snare on that angle , looks pretty steep side on
Thanks again for these vids , the world is loving it ❤️
Thank you so much for watching and for the compliments! How did my snare end up at that angle....hmmmm this is almost like explaining how you have an individual gait for walking....I have no idea. 😂😂 Sorry. 😁
Just recently “rediscovered” Throwing Copper and absolutely love playing the drums alongside these tracks. Videos are great too watch to help with some of fills and beats. Great stuff!
Im making these vids exactly for people like you that are fans of the band and my drumming and want to see how I played it. Thanks so much for watching. I'll be doing more soon. I think Top, Lighting Crashes, and something off of TDTH are next. Have you listened to The Gracious Few? I will doing Appetite at some point too.
Hi Chad. Thanks for your message. If you did a drum cover of Run to the Water, I wouldn’t complain! Throw in Rattlesnake too! I hadn’t heard of The Gracious Few before, but after a bit of listening you couldn’t go wrong with Honest Man or Appetite. You are going to be busy! Cheers
Just found your channel and I'm so pumped!! I saw you guys play at Bentley University in Massachusetts early 90s and it was awesome! Rock on Chad!
Just awesome!
Glad you like it!
I'm so happy to see these play throughs Chad! I spent years trying to work out all these parts... glad to say I wasn't far off!
So glad you like it! This is exactly why I have done this. I need to get a few more done!
Dang! Good job! You sound just like the real dude from the band Live! Lol!
I know his pretty well and can play just like him....😂😂😂
Get it!!
✌🏻♥️☺️
They stood up for love , please..
yassss daddy yassssss 🔥🔥🔥
I'm so glad YT started throwing these videos into my "recommended feed". Makes me miss the 90's music even more than I did before. Pretty awesome to watch a Master at work too! I'm curious though...what do you listen to in your in-ear mix while recording these? Is it a little bit of everything?
I’m glad they made it to your recommended feed!! Spread the word please.
Truly one of my heroes from the 90's (and forward) and great playing as always! But, I'm finding the mix a bit weird. It's almost as if the overheads are muted at times. 🤔
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Absolutely phenomenal after all these years, Chad! I grew up listening and playing along to all the Live albums. At one time I even setup my drum kit like yours, especially a low tom to the left of the hi-hats as it was never was a common thing! How long ago did you switch from Pearl to DW drums? I think I recall you also had sometimes a 14" mini china by the HH's - do you still setup that way at all? Thank you for sharing your videos!!
thank you so much!! I did the same thing with Larry Mullen Jr!
Lightning Crashes and Top please 😊
Pillar of Davidson please.
Good call!!
Seconded!
How did you get the snare sound on this song? The snare on the original recording is one of my favorite drum sounds.
I used a couple of different snares on the record but mainly a pearl free floating piccolo snare. However a lot of the sound was done in mixing. Thanks for listening!!
@@chadgraceyLIVE ooh. Peak 90s snare! I love that drum! Working on getting one for myself
@@Jmilillo Nowadays Im using either a titanium 5" snare or a new 4" brass snare both by DW.
@@chadgraceyLIVE they sound great! I haven’t owned any DW’s personally but I’ve heard all good things
chad, by no means am i insinuating anything.. but, do you ever have songs that you wish you could go back and re-record cause you thought "it'd been so much better if i'd __________"? just wonderin'.. thanks!!
Hey there. No not really. I put all that had and rehearsed these over and over before we recorded. Then did a few takes and picked the best ones.
what did you do to get such a cool camera effect?
Hi. We don’t use any effects. Just 3 cameras and switch back and forth. 😁
Get The PHUNK Out of here..He is Awesome
Well, phucking thank you! 😁
Love this song, use to cover it in my old cover band
