What a great midnight youtube stumble-on! Chad Gracey showing his skills up close! Instant subscribe! Mental Jewelry absolutely changed how I listened to music and Waterboy by far was my number one air-drum masterpiece. :) Absolutely sick. Live caught me at such an impressionable age...a freshman in high school trying to figure shit out...who I was and just trying to fit in living in an Allentown suburb. Finally comes a band who didn't need aquanet...who looked like me and played these beats and lyrics that just burned a hole in my soul... and they are from down the street in York?? After that I felt like I could take on the world. Thank you for this incredible gift of albums, concerts (I've been to 23!), and feelings. I can't wait for what's to come next! Peace and love sir!
Freaking awesome to hear Michael and I really appreciate it! We dont often tell this part of the story but we LOATHED hair metal because we were all into "new wave" and alternative rock at the end of the 80's AND the only places that would have cover bands around us ONLY wanted hair metal cover bands. I plan on doing more soon and will def do more from Mental Jewelry! Thanks again for checking it out!
Wow, just wow, not only do I love these songs, but your are awesome. I’m 49 and just learning to play, I’ll never get close to this, but I love watching you work.
Chad, As a hack drummer, I've spent so many hours over the decades listening to these songs trying to figure out what you're doing in each song. This is so awesome to see you playing up close and doing exactly what you do best. Thanks for sharing!
As I say to anyone that leaves a similar comment....YOU are exactly who Im making these vids for....a visual into how I play the songs. Thank you for watching and for being a fan!
I was hooked from the day I heard this album and have been a lifelong Live and Chad Gracey fan ever since. It's awesome to see the fire in your playing, and you are still crisp as hell.
For several, VERY significant years during my impressionable musical upbringing, +Live+ was THE band that I practiced drumming too almost everyday. I blame you, Mr. Gracey, for all the neglected homework assignments and failed high school exams that had led me to 30 glorious years of drumming and my own career in music. THANK YOU!!
@@jefftripolidrums Cool. To be clear Jeff. I will not be there. Im not currently playing with the band. Ed is the only original member on stage currently.
@@chadgraceyLIVE Awww, damn.... I was really looking forward to going. But I did see you guys play at SUNY Cobbleskill, NY during "The Distance To Here" Tour WAY back in 99-2000(?). Funny story about that gig was that you guys all had gotten sick and had to reschedule. But it was totally worth the wait!!
Dude, i just listened to a sample taken from the group on tour. The guy is playing your songs the way i did when I was learning to drum. Fills all over the place, all these fancy licks, etc. It ruins the songs. The way you did the parts for these songs can't be altered. It was the driving simplicity and the tension you created that made them so good. The guy on tour sounds like the typical 90s drummer who just wanted to do a steady nirvana teen spirit beat.. i was contemplating going to see them group on tour, but not now. My blood would be boiling listening to that drummer crap up every song. Love you CG! Thanks for the tasteful inspiration you've given my playing all these years
Love this version of my favourite song on the album. Great performance! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I would love watch you do every Live song this way
@@chadgraceyLIVE I was sooooo fortunate to meet you twice back in The Distance to Here tour! Seen yall 35 times as I was in Western NY and PA was very close. Saw you when I was a kid at Granflloons
@@chadgraceyLIVEhaha!! Yeah I realized this a few minutes after I posted this comment which resulted in an epic face palm moment 🤦😀. Love that you’re sharing this awesome content with the world!
I love watching these videos. I’m a guitar player first, and can get by on drums for demos, but these inspire me to work on drums a little more. Thanks for making and posting these!
WOW. that was awesome!.. please do "mirror song". i know it's not a "fast" one.. but, i recorded a song for my church band on the drums and i used "mirror song" and "selling the drama" as inspiration for that song. i took the chorus part of "mirror song" and used it for the verse in our song and i took the pre-chorus and chorus of "selling the drama" and used it respectively. thanks for the inspiration.
I used to sit for 3+hours on my kit, playing every song one after the other. From MJ to SS. Gotta see the way you did stage though. Lol. Tried watching that video from Brazil in 94, but can't really tell if your doing a straight 16 on the floor Tom, or if you're adding bass in between hits like you did on selling the drama

Yeah. That guy is a good drummer but WAY to complicated.
Love this version of my favourite song on the album.

Im working on it. More to come for sure!
Would love to hear Good Pain! The drum part for that is so sick. Lots of off beats, I love it!
Amazing
Super tight...so well done!
Thanks for listening and I appreciate that!
Love it! Would love to hear Top and Like I Do. Currently learning those two.
One of my fav drummers of all time!!! Hope you are doing well my CG!!!

I met Chad couple times seeing the band. Couldn't believe how cool he was to the fans.
Always loved the 1&3 on the hi hat with the 2&4 on snare. It's kinda trippy
FULL SEND .. one of the best songs you guys never play live haha
This is fantastic!
Great cover! Such an incredible album!
well technically not a cover as I am the original drummer and wrote the drums part. 😁😁 I appreciate you checking it out!!
