The flavor you added to that middle part when you played this in your Unplugged set was amazing! I wish it was in the studio version. That show is easily in my top 5 Unplugged performances list. Your drumming in that was phenomenal!
No quasi-messianic persona. No name dropping, taste maker thrust. No media overkill and false "dig me!" humility. Just a dude from York, PA drumming like a tempered force of nature on some of the most criminally underrated recordings of the past quarter century. Those of us who know, know. Thanks for the music and ultimately for letting your drums do the talking, Chad. Salute!
You nailed me. 😁 I do think of myself as just a lucky dude from York, Pa with natural talent and in the right place at the right time to be apart of timeless songs. It’s very cool and I am grateful for people like you who see it. Thank you!
@@chadgraceyLIVE I did a full cover of the entire Throwing Copper album in one sitting but I could never get the audio and video to sync up right… might have to revisit that project. Was super happy with how the solo came out on Shit Towne. Would love to share with you!
Hey chad im huge fan of Live, Gracious few, theturn etc. Your a brilliant drummer and Live is a brilliant band. I met you on the Distance to Here tour and you were incredibly nice and you even went and signed my bands page at the time.
@@chadgraceyLIVE I appreciate it! Mental Jewelry was literally the first CD I ever purchased after hearing “Pain ..” on the local college station. I’ve been a fan of your playing ever since.
oryt yeah!!🤘🏻🥁 1 hit song 1994 album Throwing Copper...all songs are great...looking forward the rest of the songs, White Discussion, ShitTown, Top, Waitress, The Damed at the Otter Creek🤘🏻🥁
Awesome. You were one of the main reasons I started playing drums in the 1st place. Ever since I watched the Unplugged show in 94 as a young 12 year old. Such a huge influence on me. Got me through some tough times. Rock on🤘🙂
Hey Chad, you just responded to my other comment in a reaction video and you told me about your channel so now I am just enjoying your content. I have to find the beavis and butthead clip but I bet I already know what they say. What were your directions in that video, just wonder around the set? Haha, I always thought they didn’t give you anything to do in that video. Anyway, thank you!
Hey, hey, you guys remember that one time Beavis and Butthead were making fun of Chad dancing around in the back of this music video? 😁 ...back when we all still had lots of hair
I loved this song in 1994 as a freshman in high school, and I love it even more now as a 41-year-old man. So good! Thanks for the great music and beats, Chad. I'll be jamming to Throwing Copper just as loud when I'm 80.
I can listen to throwing copper every day for the rest of my life and not get tired of it. One of the best rock albums of all time and you are a killer drummer brother
I’ll never forget you guys played our Union County music fest in Cranford NJ in 2007! I was listening to the one of the best bands of the 90s period, play a block away from my house. Awesome show. Incredible
STILL my favorite from y'all. AMAZEBALLS. And for all you aspiring drummers... Just a simple tip - fundamentals kids. See exhibit A here - your playing should always service the song as a whole. Case in point here - rimshots in the opening/pulling back in the verses to balls out during the choruses/knowing when and how to switch up/etc. A masterclass right here. Thanks again Chad. LOVE this channel!!! 👏🏻👊🏻🤯💯
Crazy cool to see you on this platform. Both this video and your channel deserve so much more attention than what they currently have. Anyways, cheers!
This track got me interested.in your band back then. Still one of my favourite albums! I have only recently taken on drumming (coming from percussion), and this is just pure joy to watch!
LOL... I remember this video... everyone else could air-play their instruments and sing... you just had to dance! 🤘 ruclips.net/video/FNrQOUtXYOo/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Well the damn director made me do the dancing. haha. We had drums on the set but then the director says "I dont like the drums not he set'....😳 I said "what am I supposed to do?" Director "dance around".....History is made with Beavis and Butthead....Perfect! haha
Chad. I’m 17 years old, been playing since I was about 10. I’m a jazz drummer, but I originally leaned to play rock. The first time I heard Pain Lies on the Riverside it blew me away. Your drumming has always been a huge inspiration to me. Enjoy the new year. Peace!
Hey there. Thank you so much Joseph. Jazz drumming is amazing and our my purview haha I’m honored to have influenced you! I just made 3 more vids. Please spread the word about my channel!
Hello Chad, Im Ricardo from Ecuador, Im drummer and a big fan, you creative style and your sound are inspiration man, Can you play "Freaks" Its my favorite song #DrmmerVibes
Hey Chad! Huge fan! Awesome to see your videos and setup here on youtube! Big Live fan and loved your playing man. I've done two drum covers (Lakini's Juice and Sirens Call) I'd be honored if you swung over to the channel sometime and checked them out! Love your setup, beautiful kit and beautiful sounds
Hi Chad. Do you accept requests? Because I would love videos for Pillar of Davidson and Heropshycodramer. Thanks for the channel. I hope we're get more videos soon
Epic drumming on an epic song. Thanks for all the inspiration. By the way, is it true that you used a pearl steel piccolo snare on the entire Throwing Copper album?
The new drummer, Robin Diaz, is a really bad fit for Ed. He completely overplays, loses all sense of pocket, doesn't play with good dynamics... Robin is a mess.
Robin is a great drummer but his style is not conducive with mine....I dont think Ed cares. Just my opinion. I will not listen to any vids or recordings with the new band. I know I will not be happy with what Robin does....again nothing against him, just doesnt fit.
@@chadgraceyLIVE I made a video today on Instagram and tagged Ed in it. It's a video of me playing the songs on drums, but playing them, you know, in the pocket. Robin is an example of the industry: one guy used him, so he must be great. He's beyond rigid. His version of Lakinis Juice is so bad. He's started to double time the hats in verse sections, starts the song with all sorts of noisy, weird and out of place cymbal hits. Messy, way on top of the beat, rigid drumming.
One word sums it up. Awesome. The best drummer ever. The drum beats are the reason i fell in love with live.
Thank you. Great to have my art recognized and appreciated!
