@@davebanfield6251 It's a shame that 90 percent of the people who bought Throwing Copper have probably never heard a single song off their best album (in our opinion, anyway). Mental Jewelry is superb, from start to finish. The Beauty of Gray is my favorite song of all-time. I saw Ed and the boys play a tiny club in Baltimore named Max's on Broadway in the spring of 1992. Definitely my most memorable concert experience ever. I was blown away by the depth/spirit/maturity of a bunch of 21 year-olds from small-town PA. I was in my late 20's at the time. I remember reading in a zine that some people were speculating that Ed's dad had written the lyrics to many of the songs, because of their maturity...and because he was their manager at the time, and traveled with the band. I'm sure that didn't last long. I didn't really follow their career much after that, other than hearing them on the radio and thinking how fortunate I was to see them in an unadulterated state. Lightning Crashes was brilliant--and the type of song I expected from them--but I didn't see that hard left-turn coming. And now I learn it was from all the fun and sun in Jamaica!

Did you ever go clubbing at Big City? I was wondering if they ever would play a show there! I saw them at their album release party at the chameleon club. Somewhere I must have the little flyer they handed out to announce the show. I had also seen them when they were still Public Affection at the New Music Fest at Reservoir Park in Harrisburg. They played and another band named Suddenly Tammy played, and they got a bit of national attention for awhile.

Didn’t most CDs? Being they started become irrelevant around 2000? I don’t think I’ve even bought a cd once since the internet became available.

I hated these guys in the 90’s but they grew on me over the years like a lot of bands from that time.

Great band.....The Beauty of Grey is one of my favorite songs. Throwing Copper is a great album. I think they still play every now and again.....I could be wrong.

LIVE were great. I saw them play back in the day and they had amazing energy. Nirvana and Pearl Jam were THE 90's bands but you couldn't get away from hearing LIVE's songs. They were everywhere. Candlebox too. Great video!

'Sweet Release' is a killer song from 'Birds of Prey'. It was released as a single only in Australia. I still have it on my iPod.

I was around 14 years old when Throwing Copper came out... I listened to it all summer while I worked on a Tobacco farm. Sony Discman in my pocket and earbuds. This history of the band is awesome. It was several years before what I thought was their second album came out. I loved Heaven and listened to it on the radio... then it seemed to disappear and Live was history in my rural community.
