I really enjoy your videos and your ideas. You say you found the wood whilst camping, is it green and you wax it to let it dry or has it dried naturally…if so how have you avoided cracks or have you sorted through to find the untracked bits!? @@hydrogreen1111 ...the lathe? It depends on what you want to make. Also, you need to think about other necessary items...you'll need the tools...if you use the ones shown here, you'll need a way to sharpen them (if you go with carbide tools, you won't need to sharpen them, but you'll need to replace the cutting heads periodically). The chuck is generally a separate piece, so if you want one, add it to the list. Also, you'll need a dust mask and face shield...safety first. When I started, I wasn't sure if I'd stick with it, so I found a used benchtop lathe with some tools...made a bunch of pens, small boxes and vases. But the benchtop lathe doesn't have much power, so many of my turnings needed a very light touch. You might want to look for a used lathe in your area as it may come with some of the things I mentioned above...👍 Matt

What kind of sandingpad is that you use? I really enjoy your videos, I like how you use whatever is available. Great work. T8

Do you always apply this to bare wood or do you use sanding sealer first ?

Sometimes when the wood is really dry it soaks into the wood more. So I will add more coats than I would normally.
