Hey Rus, Dan here. Isn't it wonderful all the creative things we can make from limbs. I used to think only logs were worth using. You continually prove otherwise. Thank you for the video, I can soon start turning again after shoulder replacement surgery. Until next time.
Hey, even roots are fair game for a Turner. That's an interesting piece. I'm guessing IMPULSE BUY PRICE $25.00 - $35.00. However, with inflation what it is.....? Wakodahatchee Chris
Do you ever have problems with cracking as the wood dries? I made some birdhouse ornaments from branches and the roof edges cracked. Honestly they looked nicer after. Added some character. Just wondering if there is something you do to prevent that
No not really. Like you said, sometimes it looks better. That happens with some of the vases I turn. If I'm turning something I don't want to crack I usually use wood that is dry.
Dear Santafedave, I must of missed all of your woodworking videos, please point me in the right direction so I can critique them properly 🤨 nice bud vase by the way 👍
Avid woodworker here and I can’t believe anyone would be interested in whatever it was you just turned let alone buy one sorry but I just don’t get it.
Do you really not know what it is, or see the creativity in it? The problem is it's hard to find the right piece of wood to get the effect. So I can't make enough. This is one of my best seller's. I'm curious. What do you make?
@@RcWoodturning ...thanks...I've seen $25 for small shows up to $375 for the large ones here...still considering trying it out...well, the smaller ones anyway...😅 Matt
Taking the shape and running with it. Looks great!
Thank you! I love making these.
That is really beautiful. I live in Japan and something as "simplistic" like that design is so functional it's off the esthetic charts here.
Thank you! I try to leave some of the nature in my projects whenever I can.
Lovely job rich .
@@indianatone218 Thank you! Who's rich?
@@RcWoodturning I dont know your name but it begins with R so im guessing Richard
so is it Rob lol .

Thanks Matt!
And ,another very nice turning.
Thank you!
I appreciate you watching!
That is a lovely vase. Thank you for sharing your creativity and passion 🌞
Thank you Ray!
It's a lot like doodling with an eraser, ain't it? A glass tube insert would make it usable as a bud vase. Nicely turned! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
That option is there.
Bud vase with test tube insert is what I thought you intended
Nice work, thanks for sharing
Thank you Allen!
Appreciate you watching!

Well, that’s just neat. I thought it was going to be a goblet at first.
Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Always love your work...wouldn't mind see you doing a few bigger pieces though....well done.

I have one coming up.

Hey, if it will fit on the lathe I'll turn it. I sell this one for 15.00. But I'm not in it for the money.

@@RcWoodturning that’s what I thought you would say but figured I’d ask
I love the creativity, well done! You said you sell these at craft shows, what does a piece like this sell for?
Thank you!
They range from 10 to 30 dollars depending on size. I don't do it for the money so my prices are probably low.
Not fair , you need the artistic eye , and i havnt got it 😂👏👏👏👏👏
It starts with inspiration then imagination next thing you know...

Ya, I didn't get a response either. I guess just another talker.

Agreed, I'm actually surprised he still has all his fingers.
No, I don't see creativity, and no,, I fail to see the value of it being useful in any way.
Before you ask, I make voltage regulators and voltage conditioners for a company. 40 hrs a week.
@@ericeakes7733 Don't give up. You'll get there.
What are you using for a finish?
Homemade friction polish. Shellac with a little finish oil mixed in.
Very nice project. I just stumbled across your work! What lathe do you use?
Thank you!
I have a shop fox and a harbor freight lathe.
How do u know which piece of wood to use?
I look for pieces that have protrusions or knots for the rim.
I fail to see value in what’s made here..What is the object used for? Help
It's a vase or twig pot.
What kind of prices do you get and do you only sell at shows?
Thanks and great videos.

Most of my stuff ranges between 5 to 25 dollars. I've only sold at local craft shows.
@@RcWoodturning thanks and keep it up!
@@RcWoodturning ...out of curiosity, what are the craft show entry prices out there?
Matt
@@_zhawkeye_9808 The shows I do range from 20 to 60 dollars. But some shows go higher than that.

You can put a test tube or cigar tube in them.
Yes then call it a bud vase and put live flowers in it.👍
I like your videos and what you make but I wish you would narrate. Tell us what you're doing. What finish you use.
Thanks Dennis!
I've mentioned numerous times that I use friction polish I make myself.
