    Jeez Glenn, just watched ‘cips wood chips’ demonstrating a set of carbides. It was a tutorial in what NOT to do. I’m in shock!

    Thanks for another informative video. I came to turning very late in my seventies but find it very therapeutic. I have watched several other woodturners but find yours informative and always amusing, keep up the good work.

    Hi, I have a newby question about wood (UK) do you buy it ready or collect it from the woods etc or drying yourself.
    Thanks.

      A bit of everything. We've had wood donated to the channel too, both wet and dry. We have purchased kiln dried wood and we have collected from local woods too.

    I am not that creative or artistic when wood turning but have made a couple of bud vases and I put a small glass test tube in them so can add a little water to allow a small cut rose etc to last just that bit longer.

    Hi Glen, I started woodturning earlier this year and am enjoying the process. I was wondering what you use to hold the disc sander into the chuck on your lathe, and where to buy one? I have bought your basic three carbides and they work really well. I'm not sure when they need new carbide tips though. Love your videos. Best wishes from Edinburgh

    You produce some good projects but as an international tutor and demonstrator l would never advocate touching a rotating piece of material, more expecially a piece that has bark attached. I have seen many turners do this and receive nasty wooden spelks in fingers. Two things to do if you want to check your material is round or smooth. One, stop the lathe or using the back of the gouge on the rotating timber check that way. Just a couple of small points but l have never seen a turner touch rotating timber as much as you do.

    • @glennteagleofukwoodcraftca5308
      @glennteagleofukwoodcraftca5308  2 месяца назад +1

      Touching the wood is not the problem, it is how you touch it. I have been turning for 43 years. I am a professional turner and turn 7 days a week. Touching the piece when it is turning has never been a problem. I have never had a splinter or cut a finger while doing so. Anyone injured in doing so had not done so correctly. It’s the same as getting a catch. Catches only happen when the tool is not presented properly. Present the tool correctly and a catch will never happen.
