When you added the gold resin to the part that was weakened it reminded me of kintsugi, the Japanese art in which gold is used to repair pottery. Which is also part of a beautiful philosophy to stay optimistic when things fall apart and accept flaws. This is a very beautiful piece!
Whoa. This video brings to mind a story I read many years ago about a sculptor (Michelangelo, Rodin?) who could “see” a creation inside a block of stone before he ever even picked up the chisel. How you envisioned the vase emerging from that gnarled root ball is beyond my imagination. The whole process is an exercise in patience, creativity, and personal fortitude. Kudos.
Michelangelo - the sculpture is always in the stone all he did was remove what’s not needed. He also did the back of sculptures that would never be seen by Joe Public.. when asked why …. ‘because he would know ‘ …
The idea of NOT hiding the "break". Opening the idea of broken to something better. Is the term you used for the Chinese/Japanese rapairs to pottery and the like ( not sure of the origin ). Looks exactly right. Don't hide "mistakes". Own them, and show how you learned from them. Love it. It's funny. A wood and faux glass pot actually can inspire. THAT is why this is great work. I clicked on this video just meaning to run it ahead to see the end result. Instead, I was so fascinated I watched it all the way through, twice. Beautiful and fascinating.
That’s pretty amazing. I’ve only just seen this on you tube ( I fell asleep watching something else and awoke to this). You truly have a beautiful mind to have seen this when you started. The only thing I’ve admired about shrub roots… well any tree root really is they burn in a wood stove for a very long time. Which is good if you’re trying to stay warm while sleeping on a cold wintry night. Well done!
This was totally a “trust the process” video!! I’m amazed by the creative craftsmanship, and honestly the mediums you’re using to bring your ideas to life! I have a new-found appreciation for this art form after watching all the way through! Well done 👏🏻👏🏻
So many times I have seen you create something so stunningly beautiful that the rest of us poor mortals just scoff and say, ‘It can’t be done!’ You then calmly and methodically proceed to do just that. This one however is beyond the pale. The hardships along the way merely provided opportunities to further gild the lily. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us YTers who love to watch your skills grow.
No way to compare my work with this piece of art but I know the feeling when working with this kind of wood with my primitive tools. I never use resins but I rarely know the final result which comes oon the way. So dangerous when working on irregular wood trying to hollow it. (Both for my hands and the wood). Videos of this kind provides inspiration. Thanks
Such a dangerous piece of wood to carve, I am so curious about the 4 different colors of resin in the beginning and the final color. It’s also amazing that you used three different brands of resin in the whole project. I am mesmerized!😮
It was wonderful to see your technical expertise combined with your artistic vision. I like the fact that the final piece felt so organic and wasn't overpowered by space age materials.
The patience you have in creating this beautiful piece. My dad had a lathe and as a child I did not appreciate what he might have been feeling as he worked at it. He’s gone now, abd I think back on things he did that were just him. Woodworking, photography, grilling. He wasn’t just a breadwinner, there were things that filled his soul.
Please show us the final piece in it's final show room or at least in a draped box that only shows the art work w/o machinery as a background. Was your vision for this piece to be a vase, a lamp base or just a sculpture alone? The process was amazing. Thanks for sharing it!
I so appreciate you posting the details of both what did and didn’t work instead of just the successes, makes watching you work both a more in-depth and enjoyable learning experience!
Beautiful piece of art from a beautiful being who follows his mind and heart's vision with such inspiration, technicity, patience, and tenacity for an inedit creation. The video in itself is a gift. Thank you!
the mastery in this creativity was worth the watch!!!! even in errors made, it still was all part of the creativity and production of this fine piece!!! bravo & well done!
WOW WOW WOW!!! Totally captivated by your process with a little bit of fear involved. The finished product is stunning. I absolutely loved seeing an ugly mess of roots turned into this one-of-a-kind piece of artwork. Thank you for posting.
What an incredibly ambitious (and dangerous) project. What an amazing result. Glad you survived the ordeal, and I hope you were suitably compensated for that museum-piece!
I just like to see how things are done and find very satisfying to watch this kind of work. In this particular case, what had an impact on me is the idea that you may feel abandoned, dry and dirty but if you take your time take care of you and no matter the mistakes you keep going, eventually you'll end up being a piece of art.
Absolutely astounding, I will never get over the way something so beautiful can be made as long as you are experienced enough to make it. You are amazing.
Beautiful and cool work. It was fascinating to see what you took away from the stump and what you left. This video is a year old as I am watching it. So you may have already done this, but I wish you had a beautiful light box/ room place to show your pieces better. They deserve a blank background. Thanks for sharing your artistic gift with all of us.
the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
Honestly, that is beautiful. And I'm not really a `vase` guy. Random youtube suggestion, I had no idea what your work is like, and no clue where you were going with this. Fascinating watch. I can imagine the sinking heart feeling when you discovered that separation happened. Great use of a sort of `kintsugi` technique and it just adds another layer of detail.
Wow! I've never seen anything like it, the detail & craftsmanship is amazing! & very beautiful. What a great gift to have & thankyou for sharing how it's achieved. I will have much more of an appreciation for how much time goes into creating things of beauty & how that's reflected in the cost. That was one of the most unique & unusual things l've seen in a long time, but it's lovely to see hand crafted things. I'm not a fan of modern things for your home & appreciate second hand & unusual things. I hope the people receive it with love & enjoy! it, as it's definitely a lifetime piece. Marvellous! 🥰
Sometimes I watch these videos and at the start I can’t imagine how it can become anything worth looking at and then always, I’m amazed. Such a cool piece in the end. Bravo.

Kintsugi ("golden joinery"), also known as Kintsukuroi ("golden repair"), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum
Agreed. Well said.
So true
hello
This absolutely terrifies me watch you spin those types of logs. Amazing work, true inspiration
This was utterly captivating and the finished piece is gorgeous!
This is straight to the point
Gotta give it up to you. Everything I watch one of your transformations I am completely amazed at how incredible they turn out. You're a true artist and craftsman. Salute!!!!
This helped me appreciate how much hard work goes into art. No wonder it can be so valuable!
All I can say about this gorgeous piece of art is: stunningly beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!
The video was amazing. The visual and auditory experience was as creative and interesting as the object you created!!

Absolutely gorgeous! A lot of dedicated time well spent! I want it!!
I could not stop watching! Partly in awe, partly in terror of what came next. Your skill and patience is amazing and the result is a beautiful piece of art that could never be reproduced.
Thank Ir
I think it could be reproduced.
Потрясающе! Смотрела как заворожённая!
I clicked on this video just meaning to run it ahead to see the end result. Instead, I was so fascinated I watched it all the way through, twice. Beautiful and fascinating.
Exactly! Me too!!
Same here

See, people come together over beauty.
I really enjoy your poetic manner of speaking. Perhaps you are also an artist given the way you use words?
@@iamV10010 at first I read "pathetic" instead of "poetic", i had to re read that just to make sure I wasn't crazy. Turns out I can't read
Thanks
@@iamV10010 going by their name and the use of “beyond the pale” I suspect they may be Irish. And sure we are all poets dontcha know
Such a dangerous piece of wood to carve, I am so curious about the 4 different colors of resin in the beginning and the final color. It’s also amazing that you used three different brands of resin in the whole project. I am mesmerized!😮
It was wonderful to see your technical expertise combined with your artistic vision. I like the fact that the final piece felt so organic and wasn't overpowered by space age materials.
Wow gorgeous! not at all what i was expecting from your resin concoction i love it
Это шедевр. Какой мастер! Какое произведение!
Интересно, по чём продаёт.
He sounds like a wonderful father.
Please show us the final piece in it's final show room or at least in a draped box that only shows the art work w/o machinery as a background. Was your vision for this piece to be a vase, a lamp base or just a sculpture alone? The process was amazing. Thanks for sharing it!
Потрясающе красивая ваза! Какой искуссный необычайно креативный дизайн!!! Талант и воплощение в жизнь задуманного стоит восхищения! БРАВО АВТОР!!!
STUNNING heirloom piece. Thank you for sharing your expert artistry, you are a master worker.
Thank you!
I admire you not only for your creativity but also for your persistence. Great piece of art wood and resin.
Thank you very much!
the mastery in this creativity was worth the watch!!!! even in errors made, it still was all part of the creativity and production of this fine piece!!! bravo & well done!
Как же офигенно получилось. Но сколько пришлось пройти. Мастеру браво, одно удовольствие от просмотра.
Художник.
WOW WOW WOW!!! Totally captivated by your process with a little bit of fear involved. The finished product is stunning. I absolutely loved seeing an ugly mess of roots turned into this one-of-a-kind piece of artwork. Thank you for posting.
I'm glad I watched this in its entirety. Truly superb craftsmanship!
I truly wish it was mine you are an artist in the truest sense of the word.
Thank you for sharing.
What an incredibly ambitious (and dangerous) project. What an amazing result. Glad you survived the ordeal, and I hope you were suitably compensated for that museum-piece!
Thank you so much!
wow
Why is it dangerous? looked like he knew what he was doing :D
@@gordonbman2911 Well, good. Because it was dangerous. If he didn't.
Wauw, it's gorgeous!! 😍
Honestly the most gut wrenching turn video I've ever seen... I was just hoping the entire time it didn't break. Beautiful job!
I just like to see how things are done and find very satisfying to watch this kind of work. In this particular case, what had an impact on me is the idea that you may feel abandoned, dry and dirty but if you take your time take care of you and no matter the mistakes you keep going, eventually you'll end up being a piece of art.
Шикарная, неповторимая, художественная работа!!!
Какие руки у мастера!
Восторгаюсь.❤
Meu Deus!!! Que trabalheira!!! É muito talento e paciência. Uma verdadeira obra de arte. Parabéns!!!
Maşallah muhteşem ellerinize sağlık
Muito trabalho mesmo, na verdade um desperdício de trabalho eu acho.

Absolutely astounding, I will never get over the way something so beautiful can be made as long as you are experienced enough to make it. You are amazing.
5:25 that slo-mo is just incredible.
But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
hello
One of my ambitions in life is to own one of your pieces. This is beautiful!
Marvellous! 🥰
Thank you Alison!
Sometimes I watch these videos and at the start I can’t imagine how it can become anything worth looking at and then always, I’m amazed. Such a cool piece in the end. Bravo.
Crazy that you were attempting that by hand but even crazier that you were so successful! Lots of skill!
a masterpiece, made out of pure passion
MADE OUT OF A TREE STUMP YOU MEAN, AND AT 5K MIND!! BLOODY NORA I FEEL BLOOMING FAINT👴
This was a fantastic amount of work. It’s beautiful
Thank you!
The piece is beautiful and your comments about your "learning curve" were enlightening (and honest). I could not bring myself to stop watching. I hope you are proud of your work. P.S. It was good to learn that you had replacements and advice from the companies from whom you had purchased items.
Thank you very much!
I love the kintsugi effect joining the split seam of the epoxy resin and the tree bark. The piece was definitely worth saving. Beautiful work.
Thank you!
A lot of things are called art these days. This piece deserves the name.
I would want this on the little table in front of my glass trophy case containing my Emmy awards and Oscars.
Because yeah.
@@protorhinocerator142 if you only had any of them lol.
@@mainebearhunter3444 Minor detail
I kind of feel the opposite, lol. He just turned a hunk of wood into a hunk of resin.

Also a point of view 🤷🏼♀️
This vase is gorgeous. Been thinking of trying some of the super clear epoxy, this helps seeing it turned. Thanks again for sharing.
You are so welcome!
If I had not watched this video - I WOULD BE TOTALLY CLUELESS as to how much work and planning and skill was involved with this piece! STUNNING!
Stunning piece of art. I had no idea something like this was so labor-intensive. I will be much more appreciative of the time and labor artists put into their work from now on.
Thanks 🤌👊
Off the charts, Brother. Beast. Beast mode. Epic. Pure Chrystalline, Complete. My sincerest compliments. @@DavidAdamsen
Вау! Само по себе корневище уже было красивым, а в умелых руках НАСТОЯЩЕГО МАСТЕРА стало изящным произведением искусства! БРАВО МАСТЕРУ!

Incredible to watch this piece take shape would love to do a workshop to learn how stunning video amd cool to boot
Espectacular transformación de un simple tronco, en una obra de arte.
OMG 😍 😲 😱 WOW!!! One of the most exceptional, beautiful, and amazing pieces of art I've ever seen. I'm in awe , of what you did with a tree stump/ 🌳 Roots. Very lovely. You are truly gifted 💜
SHUT UP!!🙄
I am amazed at the transformation of the root to a beautiful work of art. I also find watching your videos soothing to my soul. Thank you.
Wow David this is all so impressive!! Your vision in seeing the vase… all the process of creating it.. and the amazing video/documentation of it all ! Well done ❤
Thanks so much!
We don’t usually watch this kind of thing. But my 11-yr old daughter and I were amazed watching a shrub root turn into this astounding work of art!
Guess what she's going to want for Christmas!
Tell your daughter the truth! The shrub got killed for the sake of stupid art. Tell her the truth of global warming, pollution, climate change. How affects the animals and us people as well. How ignorant people like the man in the video are responsible for Earth's doom!
THIS was absolutely glorious to journey with you.
It felt for me, like taking a ride and trusting the driver to an unknown destination, while being open to whatever was found on the other side.
The finished production... a soul stirring contribution of worlds, come together in harmony... and the spirit song sang, did infact move me... deeply.
Well done indeed.
So grateful to have crossed this unexpected path.
A genius at Work, just mind Boggling the thought process , the effort, the creativity, patience , perfection to detail, just cannot keep adding adjectives. hats off, lot to learn from others, this is one such masterpiece.
Absolutely amazing work you’ve done, I hope you get every penny you deserve for that masterful piece of artwork you deserve, if you’re selling it.
I have NEVER seen anything like the finished piece!! What an amazing piece of art! I’m glad I watched the whole video. You are very talented, sir.
This became a art piece for sure. Thank you also for explaining the mistakes.
Beautiful piece. Goes to shows that with expert craftmanship (and a lot of elbow grease) even 'throwaway' parts of a tree can be given new life.
