Maaan! It's YOUR channel! If YOU want to put slow-mo segments into YOUR videos then just put them in. If slow-mo offends one person enough to write in and gripe about it then let that one person go and watch the millions and millions of other videos out there on RUclips. YOU just make YOUR videos the way YOU want to and we'll keep watching them. BTW, this project turned out just beautiful. Keep up the fantastic work and God bless!

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. As a power-carver and fellow woodworker, all I can say is that I am incredibly impressed with your work in general, and your work here specifically. In power-carving, if I screw up I simply keep going because you never know how mistakes become advantageous later. Not that it matters, but I am proud of you for sticking with this one and hanging in there till the end instead of giving up and moving on. I literally just put my lathe together Sunday, and haven’t even used it yet. Partly because I want to watch more videos before hand, and partly out of confusion of where to start. Watching you gives me something to strive towards. I am not interested in selling, but I AM interested in making beautiful things for my wife, and maybe a few family members, if they’re lucky, 😂. Thank you very much for allowing us to view your process. Sincerely, John

Glad I read through the comments. Those details are most interesting. It would be very cool to know such details about every piece you create.
      Stunningly beautiful.
The work, time & creativity you invest is prodigious...I was curious if you FEEL intensely positive...emotions as you work?
I ask because my favourite definition of "High/Fine Art" is, simply, "That which makes those who view it feel INTENSE emotion."
Further to that, I believe for emotion to be FELT at that point, the work itself was imbued with emotion during the creative process.
Be it a song or a voice making the hair on the nape of my neck stand up...or a dance routine which transports me to a state of awe...or a work of Art...I love beauty and the FEELING I get gazing at a VIDEO*¹ of your finished piece is...indescribable.
*As tech invariably REDUCES the emotional resonance of a piece: in that the intensity of emotion FELT BY one who views, say, an image in a video...or a photograph on a screen...or a poster...a high quality limited edition proof...an artist's proof...culminating with the ORIGIONAL...that emotion ratchets up in intensity as the veils of technology are removed.
To see your finished work in the "fibre" must be incredible.
I hope ~ but doubt ~ you arranged a voice or video call such that you could enjoy your client's reaction when they FIRST saw the result of their commission. I REALLY enjoy seeing (or hearing) the emotional reaction to my work...and the artists i support get a kick out of my reactions.

Love the slow motion. Haven’t done lathe work since high school and it brought the impact of the rough turning on the hands and arms right back. It’s good to show how physical this is. Also caused some anxiety as I was worried your chisel was going to catch and flip . Our shop room had a huge gauge in the chalkboard across the shop from the lathe stations from a flipped chisel. It was the first lesson in the lathe training!

Forget that dude who didn’t like slow motion. 🙄 that was as cool as heck. The music went perfect for the design of the artwork you made. So much wrk goes not only in the wood turning but your video and editing. Thank you. Love it. Most beautiful wrk out there.

Breath taking!! You are an amazing artist. How did you learn to do this? Where do you get those alien looking pieces of wood? Your equipment is a work of art and probably costs a fortune!! Good luck to you and I am sure your pieces will be in museums all over the world!

I have to say friend, that is very, very neat.
I admit I wasn't sure how that was going to come together when you were painting the wood burl edges, but when it was done it looks fantastic.

I especially love the organic way you enhance the beauty of the wood. The pieces are always so intriguing! Like Michelangelo, you take away what does not belong, and leave only the art you foresaw. How DO you clean up all the scraps and ribbons.

The cinematography of this little video, theatrics, lighting, and videography you have it going on with that alone but the woodwork is absolutely amazing. I love trees and roots as is but I’ve never seen this kind of work. My dad builds but nothing compare to this. Is this what they teach in shop because I should have take shop! 😅 I would love to be able to do this. It’s so satisfying to watch and hear all the noises. Fantastically beautiful.

As an artist & craftsperson myself, I'm endlessly fascinated & impressed by how you can envision a finished result from your initial materials, and then work through to the remarkable final vision you had in mind? Every episode keeps me constantly guessing right to the end!
The impressive range of cool tools you have for getting there is awesome, too!! 😁 (The curved tool for hollowing out the bowl & spiky round attachment for smoothing the base were particular highlights this time, in that respect?)

Wow David. Not only do you make turning wood an art, you also make filming about it. An extraordinary video and an extraordinary turned object. Chapeau. Opinion can be divided on the choice of neon colors and their use with epoxy resin, but as always, the beauty of art is in the eye of the beholder. Pollution is the use of so much epoxy anyway. Often, and even a little in this case, I don't understand why you can't leave such an exceptional wood and turn it like this, with all its cracks, holes and flaws. The beauty of the grain and the root wood would have been enough to justify not using plastic. Obviously you have access to such exotic pieces of wood, why don't you try something without this epoxy, just let nature work its magic. I and the oceans and our entire environment would be happy. Many greetings from northern Germany, stay healthy, Schorschi.

Pure wood will always unite nature and art more closely than wood and resin hybrids, but that doesn’t always tickle the fancy of customers. This commission would have been impossible without resin.

This really is spectacular. I know you're going for a Halloween cauldron vibe but under normal light it reminds me of some alien planet with incredible coast lines. Under black light it reminds of a nebula picture, like something we might get from the JWST. Either way, I hope this gets used for more than just trick-or-treat candy because it's too beautiful to keep hidden for the rest of the year!

Wow ! What a craftsman and artist you are. That’s the second one I’ve watched and I’m hooked.
It got me thinking about the fact that digital artists, those expert in computer graphics are possibly thought of as at the cutting edge of creating beautiful or unusual images, but seeing your films it shows that the ancient crafts, the timeless crafts such as working with wood are so much more beautiful. The way the natural object changes and evolves in the hands of the craftsman is mesmeric and deeply satisfying at a gut level.
That certainly brightened up this rainy Sunday on the West Coast of Scotland 😊
