i was thinking the same thing when you said that some were complaining about your voice overs. they can go watch your ASMR videos if they dont like the voice over. great work on the cleaver. also when i use the dole method i cut the slot for the tang slightly under the thickness of the tang for a tighter fit up, but thats just how i do it

This is the first video I've seen from your channel. Half way through the video and so far really enjoying watching you create this knife. I do enjoy some knife making videos with no talking, almost like asmr.. but as someone who has never made a knife, the talking and and the information you give is also really enjoyable and appreciated! All you need is a heat source, a hammer, and something to hammer on. You could get away with a chunk of steel as long as you can secure it to something to keep it from moving around. The heavier the better. Many other countries take a solid round and put it in cement and forge on that. People are recourceful.

I love your yapping. Its what makes it interesting to watch. I also watch a channel og a guy unclogging culverts in the middle of the woods. Hos videos are often an hour long, and 20 minutes is unclogging. The rest is him driving, talking, enjoying the nature, teaching about beavera and so on. And I love it. I would love a Q&A video from you to learn more about why, how and when you started forging.
I watch both types of videos, with & without commentary. I like the ones with commentary because many describe what the processes are while making the knives, which for me is educational. I don't have the resouces to make knives, but love seeing the process behind it.

Legit, part of the benefit of the internet is being able to connect with other human beings across vast distance, en masse. It's the voice, the person speaking that makes this kind of video interesting. It's the *human* element, not a pair of disembodied hands doing a task.
Thats a beauty of a cleaver . I recently learned about CA glue on wood, and I've been gluing the hell out of everything. I was shocked at the finish you can get with it . Another great blade and another great video. (with commentary)

Also, the variance of pattern is actually awesome, with the other steel you used for the center coming through gives it flavor as Damascus is not always the same on each side unless you used flat steel. It's a beautiful piece and you should be proud of it!
Thanks. I'm always proud of my work though I must admit I am very critical of my work. The last thing I want is a customer receiving the knife and thinking it isnt what they expected in quality. Ive seen all kinds of knives from different makers. None are perfect but the flaws i see in mine shine bright to me because i did them 🤣

i cant believe the white paint and pressing from top to bottom isnt the standard. it works so damn perfectly. i dont forge anything, but im shocked other youtubers dont do it!
I used to do it differently but the white paint is a game changer because of ease of application. As for the pressing from top to bottom i learned in a video with Steve Schwarzer. Ive never seen it anywhere else but he is know as the father of canister damascus for a reason.
That's a cool looking cleaver. I don't forge, I enjoy watching the process, I find it therapeutic. As for the talking, personally, I much prefer videos with narration.
Yeah san mai build! Perfect mix as it give a nice style and good cutting edge. As for voice over.... Majority of people in many channels said that they prefer when makers explain and share their issues and ideas of build, as we learn more that way. What people DONT LIKE, and I saw that many times on discords is.... talking heads. No one like channels where guy slap camera on his face and ramble like drunk. No one like that. Show build process? Yep. Talk over issues and ideas of it and explain what you do? Yep. Make fun of people that post mean comments? Yep again as everyone love those :D
I also prefer to do commentary because all i have left is using music and that really isnt my style. So i choose commentary instead and its been fun to do ever since so i dont plan on stopping because a few people love to complain about having to watch it like someone has a gun to their head forcing them 🙃

I restored my knife handles and coated them in apoxy resin. It worked for me. Beautiful cleaver.

i cant believe the white paint and pressing from top to bottom isnt the standard. it works so damn perfectly. i dont forge anything, but im shocked other youtubers dont do it!
I used to do it differently but the white paint is a game changer because of ease of application. As for the pressing from top to bottom i learned in a video with Steve Schwarzer. Ive never seen it anywhere else but he is know as the father of canister damascus for a reason.
That's a cool looking cleaver. I don't forge, I enjoy watching the process, I find it therapeutic. As for the talking, personally, I much prefer videos with narration.

I have not seen many people use the dowel method other than Black Beard Projects. It is something more knife makers should try
It is practical for preping ahead in quantity but for one time uses it seems a bit time consuming to me

As for voice over.... Majority of people in many channels said that they prefer when makers explain and share their issues and ideas of build, as we learn more that way.
What people DONT LIKE, and I saw that many times on discords is.... talking heads. No one like channels where guy slap camera on his face and ramble like drunk. No one like that. Show build process? Yep. Talk over issues and ideas of it and explain what you do? Yep. Make fun of people that post mean comments? Yep again as everyone love those :D
I also prefer to do commentary because all i have left is using music and that really isnt my style. So i choose commentary instead and its been fun to do ever since so i dont plan on stopping because a few people love to complain about having to watch it like someone has a gun to their head forcing them 🙃

hey you got a good speaking voice you talk in a comfortable manner and you are giving some good info if people think you talk to much they can mute you or go find a quite corner of RUclips to sulk in (you should make video in a way that you enjoy) thanks for the content
