Hi, my name is Mike. I've been a youtube content creator since the early days, but wasn't very serious about growing the channel until recently.
I enjoy building things, and fixing stuff. I do most of my own auto repairs, and home repairs. I also enjoy DIY projects. And I usually have at least one project car.
Speaking of project cars, I have an E46 BMW that I'm turning into a race car. I got it cheap, because it was really rough! I'm also modifying my daily driver to make it more fuel efficient.
If this kind of stuff interests you, then you might want to stick around!

BMW E46 Project: Disaster Averted! And a Test Drive
I've done a lot of work to the Basket Case BMW recently. Before embarking on another mod, I just wanted to go for a drive and enjoy the car.

Hurricane Ian Damage Report (Florida 2022)
To warm up my car in winter, i let the window defroster and then cabin heater run for about 10 minutes or until air flow comes out warm. The heater keeps the engine running and help's with warming up the fluids on both engine and transmission.
what seal kit this you buy I have ZF 32136759815 input shaft leaking
I used the same kit (from ebay) the 50s Kid used in his video. There's a link in the pinned comment.
Does the 68ohms, 5w resistor I keep the climate control and energy system showing on screen?? Cuz I install double din I lost both
IIRC it's just to keep the steering wheel controls functional.
Hi buddy. I’m confused become my small screen that came with the car says check connection to the ac. Steering wheel controls work for a/c. Auto and tamp.
If your wire welder is feeding crappy you can try blowing some air through the liner in the whip. Lots of times it will become filled with a dusty residue and cause feeding problems, in my experience. Good video.
thanks 👍
Thank you it was really helpful
U made it worse
That's what she said.
What do up set your tire pressure to?
40 psi front / 38 psi rear
engine and transmission ☠️ this vid isb2 years old and I bet u already scrapped this car
I still drive it every day.
Thank you!
I removed the + terminal first and made a short circuit :(
whoopsie!

The filter collapsed tells me neglect, the oil color is like mine after 5500.
That's basically what I was thinking.
@@michaelblacktreedid i see a plastic oil pan?
Mostly because people are ignorant, lazy or cheap. Or any combination....
true
Thanks!
Would an issue with lower control arms cause the car to pull right then go center then pull left and repeat? Even after an alignment
If the bushings are worn out, it can do that. A bad tie rod can do that, as well.
@ all that is good I narrowed it down the the axle I have a ripped cv boot I’ve had 2 places check all the bushings and inner and outer tie rods the only thing left is the axle and I think an owner before me hit a carb hard on that passenger side there’s a dent in the rocker so would a bad axle cause it to do that also ? I’m gonna change it when I get some time
Buy a new one. It comes pre pinned. You're taking a chance at damaging it and will have to do the job all over again. How much is your time and engine worth? This is stupid.
I took it apart to clean it. Then I put it back together. So you're telling me to replace it instead of cleaning it? That's insane.
@michaelblacktree yes. New part is cheaper than having to replace it aftet if it fails. You'll have to do it all over again. Cleaning a wear part and putting it back on with X amount of hours on it is insane. Ask any real technician. You'll see that they will say the same.
mkay
@michaelblacktree seriously. I'm helping you in the long run. It's a tensioner. I went to Diesel school . Two year program. Worked as a Diesel Tech for over 20 years. Especially since it was taken apart. You'll be crying after 1000 hours of operation. It's good advice but you won't listen because of arrogants.
So tell me, how many of those diesel engines had this particular tensioner on them?
the hydraulic tension can be damaged easily when not tensioned correctly and can cause it to lock up pretty much making it no good anymore i had damaged a few before learning how to use those. i always use mechanical tensioners from now on lol
cool story bro!
Careful that puppy doesn't pop out and learn ya a lesson...put a guard around or have great reflexes.
It wasn't under much pressure, so there was no real danger. I used the press, because my clamps kept slipping off the rounded ends of the part.
Sweet! Lifetime warranty EMP Stewart water pump w/metal impeller?
Not yet, but I probably should.

Finally made a pair. Good stuff. Recommend drilling through both legs at the same time to ensure a balanced fit.
how did you get the shifts that crisp and fast on the stock TCU? Is it just upgrading the boost valve? can I do the same on a ZF A5S325Z? Where can I get these parts?
It's a fresh rebuild, with a Transgo kit, and a Sonnax boost valve. I couldn't find anything like that for the ZF auto. Transgo makes a pressure regulator valve, but it doesn't firm up the shifts.
@@michaelblacktree Hmm okay. I'm quite limited to what is locally available here. Do you reckon a 6hp19 could be matched to an E46/E39 chassis with a M54 running on MS43 and stock 6hp TCU? In the E60 you can get that pairing afaik but the ECU might be different. I would love to go 8HP45 with maxxECU but if I do that I definitely have to go turbo, otherwise it would just not be worth all the work and money. Not sure if I'd want to do that. I'm just trying to get a fast shifting auto into an E46 for the lowest budget more or less since all cars are beat up/get beat up here anyways. Manual is not really an option bc of horrible traffic. I had lots of fun with a xhp on 6hp in the 335i, shift times are okay but not as fast as yours under full load, I'm very impressed.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with the 6HP series gearboxes.
Hi, it's a good lesson, but I bought a radio instead of a standard climate-controlled display. So I don't know how to connect climate control to work., any ideas?
Where did you tap in for the oil pressure gauge? I'm interested in installing one aswell.
I used one of these adapters ---> www.ebay.com/itm/143995903677 It's a tight fit under the intake manifold, but I made it work. Other vendors sell different (but more expensive) adapters that have more clearance.
If you haven't seen the transmission build video, here's a link. ruclips.net/video/znFoPWzU00k/видео.html
Is that where all the fluid comes from on the downstream hoses?
Either that, or the o-ring in the cap.
@@michaelblacktreeI’ll try this out, mine is leaking at the moment, previously I’ve replace the hose and PS reservoir but still had it, I always thought it’s the clamp underneath
You must use Liqui moly transmission oil 30ml pack, not ceratec, even if your car don't have a clutch
If it works and you saved money, nothing more to be said.
👍👍🛞💨
I had to order 4 condensers because they weren't packed well and the shipping service loves to throw boxes around. Just finished a coolant refresh and also replaced ccv system and disa as well as vacuum lines
Ac delete!?
Yep, also SAP delete... and interior delete. 😛
Guibo! Best part name ever.😂
Hello sir. Would the torque specs be the same for a 2010 beetle 2.5 since the bushings are also 23 mm and what are the torque specs for the end links? Does it vary from top to bottom 🤔.
The radiator fan saga is complete! Now I can move on to bigger and better things.
Your biggest mistake was buying a bmw😂
Specifically an older BMW. 😛
How is the review after using it to engine? Pls reply i also wanna use it
You will find out if that one burns out
Should’ve replaced the fan motor too, it could be pulling too many amps which is why the controller melted
Ok. Did you save money and or have fun doing it. If the answer is YES on either of them then yes it was worth it.
germayn here. Our product is not about fuel economy, Its about less friction and damage to the motor ! also it runs more smoothly, less rattling, overall.
Youre blacktree on pff, right??
yep!
Or just replace it all since its already apart.
Hahaha safety squint
I wonder what the controller actually does. I was thinking just putting power to the leads wouldn't work. I would think with the module. They would be using a 3ph brushless motor. Kinda how they do drills. Usually there is a ring that tells the module what phase it is in. And it can track the rpm. Then adjust the speed in this case by temperature, speed, or ECU command.
The radiator fan is not that fancy. It's a brushed DC motor. And the controller is a PWM unit. If you look closely, there are only 2 wires from the controller to the motor (power and ground). The 3rd wire on the controller is the command signal from the ECU. (It might also send data back to the ECU. I'm not sure.)
When you replaced the digitizer was the sun damage fixed, even though you had other damage to the lcd?
I ended up replacing the LCD screen as well.
Thanks for responding. My lcd display looks ok just bad sun damage. That’s why I way courios if the digitizer got rid of the sun damage issue even though your lcd was cracked and needed replacing.
no problem 👍
Thank you for your good video! 6:04 How did you replace a wire cowl(or room)? Are there any parts number?
it's a black plastic cover.
