KRELL K300i Integrated amp. How I became a KRELL convert
Would you put stand filler in these KEF stands?
The KEF stands can be filled with fillers, but they are pretty heavy duty already. I can't think of a reason to ever fill it.
@@sakio327I have concerns on how stable they would be with heavy R3 metas on top of these stands? And thought if filler was used it would make the stands less prone to being tipped over
Having purchased the R3 Meta from Olson's a couple months ago, I can tell you that the R3 Meta is a phenomenal speaker. I paired it with the Yamaha R-N2000A and it seems to work well. I guess the best way to describe the sound is "neutral". It's not overtly bright like the KEF's of old, but not exactly warm (say like a Klipsch Heresy IV or a Wharfdale Linton). It certainly sounds better than the LS50 (I guess being a three-way helps). What it is lacking is low end. The speaker is capable of really clean sound until it hits its limit at 58hz and just rolls off abruptly. That may be OK with most classical music (except for anything with a pipe organ), but it will not be enough for bass heads. A subwoofer is definitely recommended. That being said, I bought these so that I don't bother my neighbors with booming bass so I can listen to classical music fairly loud without setting of the complex manager. Overall, I do recommend it.
A good subwoofer for those is the Rel T/7x.
Can you preview the Reference 1 with oem stands as well. Plus the address the optional 2 provided ports that alter the bottom end frequency? Amplification with these as well? I’m sure I’m not the only one interested in the new Meta Ref 1. Thank you
I'll have to stop in and listen to them!
Opened for the first time. It's a audio orgasm.
Thanks for doing this important video for us.
That's not enough space above that amp to breathe.
Just got the R11 Meta and waiting delivery and installation. All reviews point to these being amazing speakers.
Horrible music 😮
After 30 years, the ferrofluid in the tweeters will have evaporated and will need changing. The woofers' foam dust cap and suspension will have dried and crumbled. The dividing network's capacitors will also most likely need changing.
bro.. why did you stop making review videos.... you have the presence and really give a good review.. im sure you would have only gotten better.. please make more.. i just subscribed
Appreciate that Brian. Im actually working on getting some new videos going. I appreciate the bump
Hi, 3 R11 for LCR or price/performance 3 R7 is better? I will be using them with subs 👍🏼
i have fried every paradigm speaker up until the founders! i run a 400w rotel in a open living space. high ceiling lots of glass. i bi wired the furthest from the amplifier.these 4 speakers give me all that i can take.3 years still rocking out. i might need hearing aids now 😅
Thanks for the song tips I like them a lot especially the cascades and love&hate
At first I thought he said, I smelled the fingers. Either way, I love it!
the lack of eq haunts me.. I need some room modes to be tamed
Emotiva xpa3 over power to this speakers?
What preamp is used here?
Hmmm.... Great find. But it takes 20 years for the Ferrofluid in the T33 tweeters to evaporate and turn into gunk. And the woofers' foam suspension and dustcap are also most likely dried up and have started to crumble... A restoration is needed on these new speakers... ;-)
I have this amp for 3 years and I still don’t regret it. I feel this amp doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Where do you find an integrated with not just 1 but 2 hdmi inputs. It makes my magico A1 speakers sing.
Someone else here mentioned that the amp goes from Class A into Class AB . . . not B . . .. that is an important distinction because this great amp never operates in Class B ! Just saying :-) For this level of sophistication and build quality, IMHO it IS a great value! and apparently a superb match for electrostatic speakers.
I have one of the older STATEMENTs with the original power supply. I too have been Roon'd by it 😅
Awesome 😎👍, Very rare find... Wonderful 😊👍👋...
Thanks for the great review. Would you consider a NAD M28 purifi amp tight and controlled enough for the 100Fs? Do find it keeps my current speakers really tight but they’re in a lower league than the founders.
Can you review the r6 meta as a LCR set?
I have spent a fair amount of time with a Pair of R7meta and a R6meta. That is an extremely close comparison. R7 & R6 identical driver config. Sound very close to the R11. both have less bass. both have the same dynamic mid range.
The Zen has been the foundation of my system for over 5 years since it is both a Roon endpoint and Core. Together with my Lampizator Amber 4 the music just takess on life.
My brother has a t7x it feels a lot of than 30hz as the specs say. I've got a 1205 mk1
Felt the fingers? Not something I ever want to hear you say that again

For perfect masterings and recordings id recommend MA speakers. For 90% of my music collection, i dont recommend any of them lol
Are you saying they are too good?
@@LTD078 Not really, i dont like the MA house sound. Dry, bright and lacking musicality especially with the wrong amps!
I have never been so surprised watching a RUclips video ??? I own the evo 100. It looks from the first few seconds of your video as if you have tube warning light 1and 4 showing. that said mine is the best sound I have ever heard so far.
That must have been the light hitting those causing a reflection. Thanks for pointing that out
Are you still happy with it John? I'm thinking about buying it this week
@@adamlitchfield3371 I bought it because I new that if I bought a solid state amp someday another one would catch my eye. I will never regret it. When I feel like experimenting all I need to do is try different valves 👍
@@adamlitchfield3371 A second answer: I have no experience with any other valve amps. I have heard (YT) people say they like Manuel bias adjustment as it allaws them to run the valves hotter as they say they prefer the sound.(Despite the fact that doing so must shorten valve life). perhaps some day you might let me know ?
Well, I'm not a $20k Audiophile, but an Audiophile nonetheless. Parasound it seems, from the totality of reviews I've read and heard, is consistent in its sound reproduction. I believe this has much to do with it's use of toroidal transformers (not ignoring John Curl). These provide what I call a hybrid sound, between tubes which are warm, and solid state which has a quick attack. I've just purchased 2 used A23s from reputable dealers to use as monoblocks. While waiting on the other to arrive I'm using one in my system as stereo. The sound is superb, sublime. The bass has weight and authority, and the mids and highs are smooth and detailed without fatigue. I've been looking for a review of either the A23s or the A23+ has monoblocks. I haven't found one. Is it possible to request Olsen's do a monoblock review of then? Thanks for reading.
Canadian here, We pronounce Aluminium like you ''Alumanum'' not like the british do...love your review btw.
Wow -so that’s what they looked like coming out of the box! I bought mine in 1994 straight off the dealer show room floor. Thanks for doing this video Olsen HIFI!
You've failed to mention the subwoofer specs.
This review is my subjective listening experience. I avoid talking about things readily available on manufactures site.
Ya want to use them for my side surrounds with my 120 Founder
It seems that many JC5 owners don't know about or forget about the Halo line flagship JC1 mono blocks. Also, that poor amp is going to cook itself with no breathing room on top to dissipate the heat from 12watts of class A bias. That's about 300 watts of heat at idle which needs to be dissipated.
Hi, nice brief review. I placed an order ls60 with sub kc62. Is that a wrong set up to choose with these speakers having sub kc 62 i/o mentioned sub kc92? Listening room size 35m2. Would be good to know if kc62 in this spec is a waste of money or the difference not big as it may sounded in your video. Listened some reviews that kc 62 actually better sub than kc 92, so I don't know what to think of it. :( Thanks for clarifying!
I want to combine this with my LS60 but I think I will need two of them
Can you do a KSA i400 video please and the vanguard dac with pre module?
I've just bought one and it really is special. It has everything; detail, sound, power and much more. Highly recommended.
Arendal 1723’s are much better.
And why is that? You can't say that and not give any insight.
Hi, Can I use a pair of REL S/510 speakers with Monitor Audio PLT 100 3G speakers in a room that measures 224 sq ft for music only? Thanks.
If you have the width for that, that would be a great match up. I have KEF Ref 1 and a pair of 510 in a similar room.
@@olsonshifi3714 Thanks for reaching out. Between MA PLT 100 3G and KEF Reference 1 Meta, which in your opinion is the better speaker?
I have the Prestige 800F's and a Paradigm Defiance sub ... I do love them. But I'm salivating over the 100F's ...
I just did a A/B comparison between the 800Fs and 100F - the 800Fs sound very very nice but the 100F are noticeably better sounding in every way - much more beautiful finish too
So Benchmark or Parasound??? Anthem is too expensive!!
If I owned a Hi-Fi store, I would be its best customer.
Von Schweikerts are better🙈.
I love these funny videos about tiny sound nuances in horrible listening rooms. This room has acoustics of bathroom or some bat cave.
I agree some of the really exceptional server/streamers are amazing. PC based is awful. That said, I’ve compared the Zenith MkIII to Auralic and Naim. The latter 2 were noticeably better. Larger soundstage and more focused details, especially on instruments. It is my opinion the Innuous fails due to the restricted capabilities of the USB interface. You can do all the circuit isolation and clicking but when the output re bundles the data into a single bidirectional stream, you’ve lost much of your efforts toward maintaining circuit integrity. At the very least they should be offering a unidirectional signal path, AES/EBU, Coax and/or optical. Ideally jump on the I2S standard that maintains multiplex signal pathway through the port and wire, no rebundling and subsequent deciphering required. USB digital signal is something we typically only see in <$100 dac’s and PC based streamer setups. This is honestly embarrassing for a product in this price range to be so limited. Go compare this streamer to a Naim NDX2, you will be amazed at the difference.
