    I've just bought one and it really is special. It has everything; detail, sound, power and much more. Highly recommended.

    "Krell just makes everything sounds really great" - ain't that the truth!

    I live in CT and was a Krell fan for many years. The signature sound that Krell products had was the work of Dan. The KCT preamp, and such amps as the 450MCX’s were really the last of the great products from the company. I’m not saying the new stuff is bad, just that it no longer has the Krell “house sound” that we were all accustomed to. I subsequently moved away from the Krell line only to find that there are other products that are just as good or better for less money and have never looked back. I had a long relationship with Krell, however; Bill M. Who was president at the time kind of turned into an a**hole which was a big part of my decision to turn away from the brand. Unfortunately the new owner is faced with a long uphill battle to resurrect Krell and I’m not convinced that the company will survive. As a side note, I will never do business with any company that is associated with Bill M. And I know a lot of audiophiles who feel the same way. I wish Krell all the best, but the future for them looks bleak and Itis a brand I will never purchase again in my lifetime.

      So you there is an update to the KRELL saga that you have missed. The company was Taken over by Walter Schofield and Shari D’agostino. The A-hole you mentioned has been ejected as have the cheap parts. The house sound and First class customer service are back, if not better. And it is Dave Goodman That has designed everything that Krell has ever released with the exception of the first three products. Those first three products are all that was ever designed by Dan. Walter Revamped the company and gave Dave Goodman access to the best parts available. Walter is the only reason we picked up the line. Don’t take my word for it though. Read the reviews on the new XD line of product.

      Thank you for the information. I have heard about the recent XD upgrade and have heard very good things about it. I may give Krell another look at some point now given the things you have pointed out.

    I have this amp for 3 years and I still don’t regret it. I feel this amp doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Where do you find an integrated with not just 1 but 2 hdmi inputs. It makes my magico A1 speakers sing.

    The kav 300i was plagued with overheating issues, d'agostino was sacked/quit, & they started manufacturing in china.

      I dont know about the 'manufactured in China' part, but I do know from engineers who are into hi end audio that Krell has gone downhill. And yes, d'Agostino left the company years ago.

      Hi, Thought I'd add some reality, as opposed to pure speculation, to the discussion. 1) Krell has NEVER been "Made in China". Period, 2) The D'agostinos did, more than a decade ago, (unwisely, in my opinion) seek additional capital from Wall Street, and the partner that was taken on, through underhanded tactics, forced them out (surprise, surprise!). During this period when they were not at the helm, which lasted several years, the "bean counters" held sway, and some substandard (cheap, Chinese) parts were used in construction, which, unsurprisingly, degraded the performance of some of the products. Several years later, Rondi D'agostino was able to regain control of the company, with a different (and presumably honest) source of capital. Many Krell products produced during this era, can be upgraded for a nominal fee. Dan struck out on his own, and as many of you may know, is now very successfully producing some extremely high-end gear, under his own name, and remains on good terms with the folks at Krell. Regardless, all Krell products have, since 1983 or so, been designed by David Goodman, not by Dan, so his departure was not the proximate cause of the problems Krell has suffered.
      Unfortunately, these same "bean counters" also decided that Krell should manufacture a substantially less expensive series of products, ("to a price point" presumably), that were, in a first for Krell, NOT designed, nor intended, to operate into comparatively low impedance loads (below 4 Ohms), unlike all previous Krell designs. As was inevitable, some of these units were, in fact, used to drive speakers with very low impedance. Unsurprisingly some of these units experienced overheating issues. 3) After regaining control of the company, these "substandard" (for Krell, at least) products were discontinued.
      Any "slagging" that Krell has received is the result of internet trolls, who" know not whereof they speak".
      Regardless of what transpired with Krell products 10 or 20 years ago, their current line-up is, once again, very high performance. I would encourage anyone looking for some high performance audio in this price range, or perhaps any price range, to audition the current Krell line-up.
      Though I am a Krell owner, I am not a Krell employee, investor, supplier, (etc.) or affiliated with the company in any way. Thanks for taking the time to read my comments.
      Happy Listening!

    • @olsonshifi3714
      @olsonshifi3714  3 года назад +2

      They defiantly don't sound alike. Krell is more forward in the top and is more dynamic in the mid and bass sections. Parasound is a little softer all around. The A21+ and JC5 sound great, Just a different sound all together than Krell so its hard to compare.

      I would try to listen to both. I favor the KRELL sound over Mcintosh myself. KRELL XD has a very tube like sound and analytical top end. Mcintosh top end is a little to juicy for my taste. Just my personal taste.
