    So if you are a senior in your 70s and you have a normal swing speed for your age how do you determine what weight is best? I will assume a soft senior flex is best to get ultimate height on your shots?

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit День назад

      The only way to know for sure is to find a place where you can try different shafts as the real answer is it depends, how fast, how you swing it fast, your release, and so on could steer you in a softer flex but it could also steer you the other way and believe me I’ve seen it all.

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit День назад

      Sure that’s a good starting point from there I would then just base it off of feel and results the one that gives you the tightest dispersion on the face and optimal launch conditions then you know you have the right one.

    Interesting video. You’ve earned a new subscriber. I am a little baffled by initial weight positions causing a small fade and final result was adding a touch more weight to the toe? I would have thought the result would have increased the fade. Glad you got it sorted out!

    Ok, explain to me why a heavier shaft 80g S gives me the best results? Swing Speed is 98-101 Ball speed 142-147mph Carry varies on conditions generally 224-239 Age 65 Hdcp 2

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit 20 дней назад

      If I were to guess it likely has everything to do with your timing. Even at your age you likely have a fast take away and quick transition and the weight is what is helping you keep everything in sync. I will say at your speed you’re probably leaving about 20-25 yards on the table and there’s still some optimization left to be performed. Thanks for sharing

    I see quite a few discussions about blending iron heads but have never come across anyone talking about blending shafts in a single set of irons. My set is the TM RSi TP, a forged compact CB design from 2016 with traditional lofts PW 48°, 7i 34°. Over the years and aging (66yo now) I've replaced the shafts starting with lighter shafts on long irons moving to mid and short irons as I go along. Right now PW-7i are on KBS tour light stiff (steel 99g), 6 & 5 irons on UST Mamiya Recoil stiff (graphite 80g) and the longest iron 4 on Fujikura Vista Pro regular (graphite 70g). The 4i head has also been replaced with a TM RAC-OS from 2002 that matches 23° loft with the original head. Swingweight remains constant at D2 throughout. Of course it felt different at first but didn't take long to adjust and it works for me.

    Not sure if I should be using shorter clubs. I was hitting good straight shots with my new standard lengths irons but I can’t tell if I should get shorter irons and that would help me hit balls further, not sure if I am extending early, I took a video but idk what a normal extension looks like

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit День назад

      The easiest way to determine is pay attention to where your pelvis in correlation to your shoulders, if you see your shoulders in front then you are good, but if you see it stacked under your shoulders then you’re likely early extending.

    Do you think its best to get fit for driver at cruising speed rather than full speed ? I got fitted recently and they wanted to fit to my full speed swings. I get the feeling they wanted to sell me extra distance. I swing at 115mph on my GC3 but on course im no higher than 110 especially now its freezing in the UK. In the fitting if i hit at my cruising speed the spin dropped to low for what i like. Maybe just a bad fitting experience?

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit Месяц назад

      So when I fit I like to see if the Driver has multiple gears and a properly fit driver should be able to work and 3 different speeds, if it only works at full tilt then it is way to stout. So to wrap it up I would want the driver to work 105-115.

    Im playing 9 ° driver qi10, with ventus black 6x ss 105+ mph. Still slice it, down or up in shaft weight ?

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit Месяц назад

      In this situation I don’t think shaft weight is the factor, I think it’s likely more of the profile and how it affecting your wrist actions. The wrist action slicers need is more pronation through impact, turning a door knob or imagine playing ping pong, simply stated you need to feel like the trail hand is crossing over the other similar to that if putting top spin on the ball in tennis or ping pong, the key is that post impact the trail hand should be completely on top of the other with the face of the driver pointing down to the ground. Try this thought process with current shaft and if it doesn’t work then I would find a Ventus blue shaft and try it again.

    Just found your channel John. Very informative! I wish I found you a couple years ago when I bought a Cobra F9 with an Atmos ATMOS Tour Spec Black 7 shaft in a stiff flex. Unfortunately, As I approach 70 yrs old, my swing speed is between 85-90. My average drives are 210-220, But my contact has been migrating toward the heel which drops me another 10 yds or so. On the rare occasion I hit it on the button, I can go 230-240+ depending on conditions. So, I'm pretty sure I have a shaft (timing device) that is most likely not working for me. Could I ask you for a shaft suggestion? I live over an hour away from getting fitted and it's going to be one of those situations where they're going to try and put me in a $1000 club. My swing has good tempo with a smooth to average transition, applying the power as late as possible. My natural ball flight is a slight draw and my misses are a push or push fade. I can also hit a straight ball that draws too much if I'm not paying attention. My clubhead is a 9* but it's set at neutral 10.5* Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit 2 месяца назад

      With your speed and type of release I’m going to say the shaft will feel very stiff, kind of like no bend in the downswing and now release or feel at impact. The Fujikura speeder blue series would be a good suggestion, and what’s cools is they have tons of weight options so you could go lighter weight and may even want to try a little lighter flex to help you get the shaft to load and unload a bit more. But at your speed I would say 240-250 total would be really good if you can achieve it more often. Hope it helps.

    If you got melted a qi10 that is already close to the moi uses limit does that put it out of compliance?

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit 2 месяца назад

      That’s a fair question but adding weight should have little to no effect on MOI as the mass won’t make the head more or less forgiving. So although it can make it perform and play differently when used to address an individuals swing flaws, it’s not necessarily going to turn a standard G430 max driver into a 10k version by simply adding more mass or hot melt. The reason for the extra mass really comes down to timing and launch as weight dispersed to different parts of the head can have a profound impact there.

    Love this video and love the insight. Looking into a possible career and own venture into something like this. Through previous comments I see that trackman university and just diving in feet first are the biggest tips. However, are there any classes (I.e. certificates and such) that can maybe aid your entry into that kind of career? If there are any, what would be the first certifications that you would go after just starting out?

      The Ventus red is a great shaft stiff in The handle but responsive in the tip section to coincide with your fast hand speed.

    Did not mention lie angle which can be adjusted without changing length of shaft.

      Yes you are correct lie angle can be adjusted without changing the clubs length but that doesnt always mean a bend is going to solve the center of face strike problem and in this video we focus on how length will affect someone’s posture and ability to find middle of face. Thanks for the comment and support.

    I’m 6”3 and weigh 342 pounds and I swing the driver around 100-105mph and I have the kbs tour lite 100S shafts in my 2021 P790 irons and as I’ve got facet joint arthrosis(arthritis in the spine) plus 2 bludging discs(L4&L5) plus arthritis in my right knee,when I can get the money together I would like to make the switch to graphite shafts in my irons and wedges and have been looking at the Mitsubishi MMT taper 95 & 105 plus the TENSEI AV White AM(2) Iron shafts in 100 gram stiff flex and was wondering what ones you would recommend for me to try,I tend to hit the ball too high at times and both shafts would be a good fit I think as I want to stay around the 100gram mark for proper gapping with the weights of my other clubs

      I think the MMT shafts would be the better choice.little more stable in the tip section

    Which club are you using to begin your fitting ( 7 iron)

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit 3 месяца назад

      Yes all iron fittings will use the 7 iron head and when we change combinations we will change heads and shafts but they will always be a 7 iron and a 7 iron length shaft.

      @@SwingFit great video. To add to previous comment is there a possibility that a player needs different lengths for the other clubs (5-6-8-9-pw)? I understand everyone uses the 7 as a standard but why don't fittings at least give the opportunity to try the 5, 7 and P? If you are told you need +0.5 inches on your custom set, how do you ensure it's the case for every club in the set ...

    I play all of my woods 0.5” short. With irons currently I struggle with toe misses and overdrawing the ball. I have wanted to cut my irons down -.05” to see if I can get more over the ball.

      Well generally speaking if you miss toe side cutting them shorter would only make the miss worse. If I were a betting man there’s a pretty good chance you are either early extending or you have too much weight in your heels. Early extenders will almost always got to your toes but you will notice that your hips thrust towards the ball from the down the line view. If you stay down through the shot but notice that your sitting back to far in your heels then the weight shift is going to pull you away from the ball. The secret is to never be in both heel or both balls of your feet at the same time.. I call this gas on gas off. In the backswing you should be right heel and left ball, and then in the downswing you should be left heel and right ball. Get this weight shift down and you will likely fix the toe miss.

    What about shaft stiffness, when most people shorten the shaft they cut away at the handle, but to me that means taking away the stiffness, and if you cut away the tip , that would make the shaft stiffer ... wrong or right. my Club Pro says the opposite. Who is right?

      I’m a firm believer when you take it all from the grip you take away the feel. So when I make my cuts I will take it from both sides so a 1” cut will generally be cut 1/2” on each side, this protects the feel, and when the shaft stiffens up it will be done so evenly.
