FWIW My three kids are all neurodivergent. My oldest the most challenging with sensory extremes, meltdowns, etc. When my husband's father was suffering with dementia in his later years. I would watch my husband employ ALL of the same strategies communicating with his dad that he did with our autistic preschooler (decades previously). By the time my oldest was about 6, I started to recognize a pattern. I had never shed one tear about our own situation, but hearing other people's stories that were similar would COMPLETELY unravel me. I share this to suggest that integrating this new phase of life with your mom gone will likely require addressing layers and different kinds of grief that is quite different to the cleaner, clearer, less-confusing kinds. Expect to find yourself abruptly and surprisingly vulnerable to the stories of others that are parallel.☮

Hi Bec , My mom passed away in April and we all miss her so much . Mom spend a lot of her days making quilts and she gave all of us a quilt including all the grand n great grandchildren . So she made over 50 pieces which we now treasure so much. I got to keep all the bits n pieces and all the scraps of material , her sewing box has a lot of memories in it. So everyday I will pick something from one of her boxes to just add into my stitching. Looking at your video I will make a needle book w all her scraps to giving for xmas , but still thinking what to make for the boys in the family. Maybe a coaster 😉
