Thankyou for sharing your needlebook and the lovely linen. Everything is usable with slow stitching and that is what I love! Bringing things to life again...❤
I think the centers of the flowers in the white work piece might be bullion knots. I really appreciate you sharing how you would use the vintage textiles you pick up. I've been collecting some on my own, inspired by what you're doing. I so admire the handwork done by previous generations. I have a hard time though, cutting into the things someone else worked so hard on. Unless there's a stain or other obvious damage. 😊
It is hard to cut into pristine textiles. I always try and remind myself I am actually admiring and appreciating previous makers talent by using their beautiful stitches in my projects. Especially if the pieces weren't being admired before!
Your latest needlebook is gorgeous as always and still incredibly inspiring. Thank you for sharing which textiles you'd choose and why, there is always one or two that I wouldn't have considered, the hankies for example. The stitch in the whitework is possibly a bullion stitch and it looks like that particular piece could be Mountmellick embroidery which is traditionally stitched on a cotton sateen with matte cotton threads.
Such lovely work Bec. Would you mind telling me what stitch you use on the edge of the white cut work page. The stitches are vertical on one side but horizontal on the reverse side. Very interesting❤. Is that done separately, or one stitch giving that result? I haven't much experience in sewing. Thanks.
