Oh lady I think you’re going to need more than what you have. Don’t underestimate the power of the pull that vintage textiles have on people. As a customer when purchasing I will always ask myself if I will ever find a piece again as well as if I will have regret of buying when I have the chance. Even if you do take more than what you sell you have your workshop as well as the new shop space AND you can’t keep up with online sales. Especially do up packs. I’m so crap at curating bits together but I really like having someone give me a head start and building from there. You could do starter packs of the Gosling Quilt for example and even if people have already got their own Gosling started they would buy the pack anyway to use what’s in there for either another one or the start of something else. Put a sticker or stamp everything with your logo so that you can easily be looked up. Doesn’t have to be all of your details, just as long as you can be found if people ask the Google. At a craft show it’s so hard to forget where you got things from. Take things that are pretty uniquely you. Like the neon zippers and things that other traders don’t do. Have as many samples as you can so people can see what the packs will make. Might not be the exact fabric but if they can see something physically in front of them they have more of an idea of what it will look like in the end. These are only things I’ve listed as a customer and are my own personal preferences so take them as suggestions only. You will be fantastic. ❤
I’m absolutely sure you will be busy at the quilt show. And I think you will need much more than you think. You are exactly what is on everyone’s wish list at the moment. 💙 Keep making bundles. They will be great for the new shop if they don’t sell at the show. Always better to have too much than not enough. And you can also take more down to the Green Door. 💙
Another great video Bec! I love that you showed that needle book. I showed my granddaughter her finger knitting on the RUclips and she said what you got paid, you need to pay me for my finger knitting.
It must be so difficult to guess how much stuff you need to package up for a show especially when it’s your first show. All I’ll say as someone who’s been to countless craft shows (but only as a customer, never an exhibitor) is take as much as you can get ready and transport. As you say, you can always put what you don’t sell online or to stock your new shop, but the more you have, the fewer disappointed visitors to the show you’ll have. Of course, if you do run out of a particular pack, you can always make extras up when you get back home and post them out. I’ve always appreciated exhibitors who’ve done that. Good luck with the show and I hope you sell out on the last day! 🍀🍀🍀
I agree. As a shopper at many Sydney quilt shows over the years you can never have enough, especially your vintage kits. Slow Stitching is very popular at the moment, Bundles sell well. Also as your on your own, take food and drinks, the lines for food and the toilets are very long for most of the days.
Awwwe Bec. All will be well. People will see your lovely things and could not fail but to love them too. I would buy your vintage pieces but cannot get there. Really want some of your vintage puffs but been unlucky online and in store. Will keep trying as you always have such lovely things to sell ❤️❤️❤️ Feel the fear and do it anyway
Also, bring your #8 perle cottons, templates and stacks of checks (they’re making a comeback). And bolts that have been there too long - maybe sell a bit cheaper as a show special. Just suggestions of course.
People are going to love your booth! I am so happy with my purchase and it arrived to the states safely and quickly. Hopefully you will make yourself a little stitching time soon! 🌸🪡🎀🧵
Hi. I wish I were in Australia! I would buy so many things from you...I'm positive you wil sell more than you expect..so excited to hear how you did and waiting to see the new shop videos..I'm in Upper Michigan USA..good luck..
I think you have the perfect amount of stuff for Sydney. People's eyes will POP when they see your booth..if there is to much stuff it can overwhelm..the perfect amount will seem special and "curated" and people will think to buy before it runs out!!! You will do fine. You have very special things and a special style!
Thankyou for the early morning eye candy! Please post lots of photos of your booth…will definitely try to get there next year, it’s been a long time since I went to the amazing Sydney show…❤️from 9 deg C Perth!
Looking forward to seeing you there. You’re going to need a lot more (what you’ve got, will probably sell out in the first morning) and please bring heaps of your quilt patterns - you are going to be swamped by customers. The show used to go from Wednesday to Sunday, so more people will be attending each day and also because it’s back at Darling Harbour.
Facebook pages like 'Vintage Fabric Destash Australia' and 'Fabulous Fabric Vintage and Sheets' are wonderful places to find vintage treasures. Good luck with the Sydney Craft and Quilt Show!
Love seeing your shop and your process of getting ready for the show. You will do great , You have a lot of cool things. I only wish I lived over there so I could come to the quilt show. It's great being part of your life since the Roxy sisters were there. I always love seeing your little stitch books they are so cute. If I can ask what do you soak your textiles in I have collected for over 40 years I've always used certain things and always got them clean but I just wondered how you do it what kind of soap you use what how long you soak that type of thing. Thanks so much and blessings. 💕💕
So excited for u and trying to figure out how much a flight to Sydney from the US is so I can come see your smiling face. 😁 You are SUCH a people person, fun to listen to, and so REAL! Those will take you far, and I'm praying your booth will be a huge success. Enjoy every second of your trip!
Hello Becca, do you have any more of the vintage kitty fabric peeking at me at 3:35 minute mark in this video? I simply have to have it and I am in the United States so I will not be able to make it to the Quilt and Craft show.
Does it count as quilt show sales if you are shopping in the bins of vintage textiles before they go to Sydney? 😂😂 i couldn’t let go of some of those embroideries. You will do so well at the show, you have such a special eye for fabrics
I hope you can find a few minutes to sit down and do some hand quilting. That might be enough to help calm your nerves. We're all cheering you on from the sidelines. 😊

Thank you! I oscillate between being worried I will disappoint people and being embarrassed that I thought I needed all of these packs!

Hi Bec. Are you holding a stall at the Melbourne Craft and Quilt show too?? Please!! 🙏
Hello Becca, do you have any more of the vintage kitty fabric peeking at me at 3:35 minute mark in this video? I simply have to have it and I am in the United States so I will not be able to make it to the Quilt and Craft show.
Hi - I just have that one little bit!

Ha I hear you - I’m wondering if I am going to regret it!
